Land Rover Defender OCTA walkaround: The most powerful, luxurious Defender yet

- Land Rover is pulling out all the stops to ensure the Defender is the undisputed flagbearer of the off-roading world. The British carmaker has globally unveiled the Land Rover Defender OCTA - the most powerful, luxurious, and capable Defender ever. The Defender OCTA borrows a host of equipment from its performance-centric Range Rover Sport SV sibling comprising the 626hp 4.4-liter BMW-sourced twin-turbo V8 and the 6D Dynamics chassis and suspension setup to eliminate body pitch and roll while maximizing suspension articulation for the best off-road performance. Additional modifications include special bumpers at the front and rear, higher ground clearance, wider track setup, and wheels ranging between 20 to 22 inches. The Defender OCTA gets a special OCTA drive mode which can be activated via a long press of a dedicated OCTA steering-wheel button, promising different tuning and an off-road-focused launch control. Special materials such as exclusive leather interiors and chopped carbon fiber finish across the cabin can be found as well. The OCTA can only be had in the Defender’s 110 variant with a five-seat setup. Land Rover will be selling the Defender OCTA in limited numbers with a special top-of-the-line First Edition model also on sale. As if the regular Defender isn't already a premium vehicle. They just took it once more to a higher notch with the Octa. For me, the Edition 1 (off-road version) is the creme de la creme.

Current Defender is good enough. The V8 is already too heavy and spoils the dynamics of the car. Take the extra cash and spend it something else the brings you joy ✌🏻

Why 20" wheels for off roading ...any specific reason

How does it matter how fast an off-road specific SUV can go or does it?
@@OlllOHD it’s a flex car. Most owners will probably never drive it. Also it’s a bed for JLR to showoff their abilities as well.
@@TheCorneaImpression I think 95% of the owners will drive the edition one models, first its a defender which means its not a flex car normaly, second its not that "real collectable" like others
@@berekbarna2534 by drive i mean you assume to the mall or to a restaurant. 99% will never off road it. It’s not a full on collectable that will appreciate but a car that will be noted in history. So will maintain some intrinsic value.

Went to the reveal and the regular OCTA imho was better. Maybe it was the way that it was spec’d but the edition one leaned too heavily into the off road appearance.
@@teriok6783 just preference i guess. I would go with the street style in this.
@@TheCorneaImpression another thing the guide told me was to go with the 22” wheel option no matter which one I selected because the computers are programmed different based on the tire size.

Consider not adding Jaguar to your discussion. It’s simply Land Rover, not Jaguar Land Rover.
@@glenwerline3876 Glen it definitely should be discussed. Jaguar had multiple special projects few years ago targeting collectors. It was the Project 7 and then the Project 8.
We can see a similar thought process being used for the Octa. Few months ago we also had the opportunity to witness the Range Rover Sadaf Edition and before that the Sport SV.
As time will go on their will be more exclusive products that the company will make especially after they completely adapt the House of Brands strategy. On our channel we had interviewed a couple of their top guys do watch it if you have the time. Also would love to hear your thoughts on why Jaguar should not be included.

@@GentlemanJamesWin you are absolutely correct James. That was my mistake. It is an 8 speed auto box. Had 10-12 minutes to film and the raw footage which has the correct take wasn’t handed over to us. Thanks for pointing it out.
Not chopped carbon it’s forged carbon
@@Vir.1999 it is chopped carbon fiber. Forged is made out of a different process. And they look different as well.
