I also have high praise for the Defender 110 with the straight six. I like those side steps and will consider getting them. For off-roading, I definitely recommend the 20-inch wheels. You need that extra sidewall to cushion your ride over rough terrain.
Wow - One of the best car reviews Ive ever seen. Straight to the point, no time wasting, honest and clearly an educated owner. None of the BS, artsy video and music. Absolutely awesome !!!!
I bought the Defender X in Santorini black with the black package and passed on the V8. I did enough mods that got me to the same price and ultimately a better car with a better exhaust and sound. The X has 400lb/ft of torque. More than enough for a truck of this weight. Plus the P400 engine is extremely reliable.
@@RJ-se9op it was a matter of price and availability. I knew I could have the P400 today as well as the things I could do to it. I heard one with the Quicksilver exhaust I have on it and it sounded amazing. Then when I drove the car, I was sold as it was plenty powerful. At this point I’ve spent a bit more than if I got a v8 but I have a powerful truck with a very reliable engine, better fuel consumption and an amazing looking car with the stuff I added.
@@ryu10000 My car with the current Quicksilver exhaust sounds a lot better than the stock V8. If I put this exhaust on the V8 it would be a different story. The stock system is very muted. I have plenty of cars with V8s with stock and custom exhausts. I dont need my ears checked.
As some who owns and fell in love with the LR4 and LR3 like, I was quite disappointed with the look of the newer discovery lines. But JLR didnt disappoint with the defender line. Its the unofficial successor to the LR4, and I absolutely love it!
Couldn't agree more, we don't talk about the Disco 5... Might as well get an Explorer. This return to form is exciting, I can just imagine my LR4 sitting next to a similar LR/Disco 6
@@Jabullz And the Dico 5 is "horrible" to drive compared to the Defender. I had a Disco 5 for 6 months before I received my new Defender. Is two different worlds.... Disco: Bad seats, too soft setup, and a lot of error messages. The Defender.. tight, has good seats and no errors :)
I'm glad I clicked on this video. I love these Defenders. Going to be my next car. The V8 is so enticing, but this has been my exact buildout. The 110x with the off-road package, all black, every option I can stuff in it. Even though it's the smaller engine it's still listed at 395 hp and this version just looks so nice. Delete all the boxes and stuff on the sides, body color tire cover. This is literally my set up. Totally going to do the fog lights and running boards. I feel like I don't want the roof rack though. I love sunroofs and feel like it would obstruct the view and make a ton of noise. Honestly though, deep down inside, a part of me just wants the Defender 90 V8. I mean, a 2 door Jeep wrangler with 518 hp? I might need to be talked off the 90 v8 ledge
Great video! Straight and to the point. Absolutely love the setup of your defender. I’m looking at making this my daily driver later in the year so I appreciate all your insights and experience. 🙏🏽
Great review❤ I’m sooooo confused, I have to get a car asap and I’m in love Defender, like in love😂. But whenever I go to the comment section and every other comment says RELIABILITY wth it’s suppose to mean ? I’m tired of reading that kind of comments, and thank God here I see some real Defender owners that have 0 complaints and it makes me happy and now I have some hope that it’s not going to break tomorrow. I’m in between Audi q7 and defender and seriously have no idea what to do.
I test drove the V8 model a few times and decided to go with the Defender X 110 P400 elder Gray and Black as it has enough power without the V8 pricetag. Love this thing and I just ordered the QuickSilver exhaust for it.
The car sits! The color is my first choice, but I would rather get a darker color for the inside as I want my cars to be dark inside out coupled with the tinting. The tires are a good choice as they enable the car to sit well.
Are the v8’s the ones people claim have issues? Was surprised to find this video because of all the opinions on the internet. But I have never owned one. Always make really sharp looking vehicles. 🍻
Glad I came across your vid. Defender is my all time fav. I keep vehicles for their life usefulness, because I don't like to waste money on cars. Can't wait to see more of your videos to see how I can save on getting this truck. I currently drive a Honda Ridgeline (2006), which I bought new in 2005. I currently have 430k miles on it and it is still going strong. After 18 yrs, it is time to get a new vehicle and the Defender is what I want. I've never owned a V8, so I am drawn to the V8 version. Love to hear your opinion.
15-20K off MSRP? wow interesting. I had decided to get pretty much this exact build (without roof rack) which I found at a dealer last week. (in Canada) MSRP was 125K, so pretty much loaded P400 X. I offered them $6K under MSRP. They came back to me offering $500 off MSRP. After me saying "no thanks" they offered $750 off MSRP, which I declined. They came back with $1000 off MSRP. I declined their counter offer, so no Defender for me right now. I do like the vehicle but I also discovered that insuring it would cost 50% more than my wife's (more expensive) BMW X7, which was surprising to me.
I love your 110!!! I am thinking of buying a new 110 Dynamic SE, all black with black package. I wanted to put a different set of 22" black gloss rims to set it apart. Any suggestions? Also, if I put fatter off road tires, which ones would you recommend and would that alter the ride? Im getting the air suspension for a smoother ride and will not be doing any off roading. Lastly, are there Urban Automotive centers in the USA? I live in southern Louisiana, close to New Orleans. Thank you!!!!!
What size are those Nitto’s? My similarly specked black X-Dynamic is scheduled to arrive later this week and want to upgrade tires on the 22s but all tire sites say the equal size swap for Nitto’s does not fit.
Facts.. adding you need to be able to afford 2 RR, because 1 is always in the shop I'm waiting for feedback on the Defenders to see if they are just like RR. fingers crossed
Crazy how people love to jump on this “reliability issues” I’ve had a Range Rover Sport and 3 Jeep Wranglers. Each one I’ve had people lining up to tell me how unreliable they all are. Never had a problem with any of them!!
The JLR dealer told me they went to the smaller screens starting in ‘23 due to the chip shortage and only 130 and V8 now come with the larger screen. Could just be a cost cutting measure but that was their reason.
Buying a Defender to not go overlanding and instead as some sort of status symbol has got to be the most diabolical shit I've ever heard. It's like not letting a horse run or a wolf hunt.
What's NOT addressed is the rather dismal reliability record and subsequent atrocious cost of repair, which is a factor for those that aren't simply going to have it sit in a 7,000 sq. foot garage and sold within a few years.
@@jimrothwell535 Over what period of time, two or so years?...hardly indicative of 'long haul' ownership. Range Rover is the reliability laughing stock of the automotive world. HAHAHAHA....

What’s the tire size? Also when you sell the cars do you sell them with mods (tires and/or suspension) or do you return them to stock?
