Mate this could be its own channel! I have been playing with a subdecay m3 for old korg ms20 synth sounds and find the sub 1 and sub 2 modes of the zvex "fat" fuzz factory really gets into this territory where the non-sub modes can be just not quite there. The catalinbread heliotrope and the malekko scrutator are sample rate fidelity reducing pedals worth a look for these granular things. Nice vid and I'm only 1 min in.
For pedals that allow expression control you should consider something called the "sidestep" which is a sort of automatic expresser - imagine if your foot had super powers of speed and randomness etc - this sidestep pedal would add a dose of randomness and inhuman sounds to any combination and just can do so much that a manually articulated knob or foot treadle can't do.
