agreed!! I think it's one of the coolest features, especially because there are more cartridges that will be released in the future. I'd love to see a reverb cartridge one day and be able to seamlessly change the order!
Line 6 did this with their single pedals around year 2000, like the echo park, basically you have a common chassis and footswitch but the effects, control and tone knobs were built like a cartridge that you could swap out, very similar to this configuration..
right?!? I'm a huge sucker for Nintendo-themed pedal effects... don't tell anyone but I ordered the RayGun FX Fuzz Boy simply because of the look 😂 but the difference is that these Console Pedals actually sound GREAT
@@emilyharpist whoever made this was definitely inspired by Devi Ever. That legend of fuzz graphic was first used on one of her pedals. Very video game like sounds came out of that pedal. Devi conceived the Devi Ever "Console". Came up with a design schematic and a Kickstarter. Had a bunch of independent pedal makers working with her to make cartridge pcbs. She ended up spending the $40,000 she raised and running off into the sunset. Cool idea I'm glad to see someone finally put it all together. The main difference is where the "console" had an Atari aesthetic whereas this is an N64 / GameCube aesthetic.
That is a great backdrop idea to hide the cables - simple but effective! Using cartridges to offer a variety of pedals is genius - a really smart idea. I'd love to see even more pedals doing this sort of thing, making customization and interchangeability really simple!
It makes you think, in an alternate history where the N64 had a sound chip or different processing of audio it might've been possible to use one as an effects unit/guitar pedal.

That is SO cool! I feel like these were made specifically for how Russ and Emily interact during the recording of these videos. Also they missed a real opportunity to call it the DOOMstortion pedal.
Haha that Zelda reveal was sweet. Also that's a doomy fuzz, never realised Link was a metalhead When the distortion was going you could really hear the contact with the harp strings, I don't think I've noticed that before! Me: Oh, a box cutter, this should be fine. Emily: *goes galaxy brained and develops an all new box cutter technique for maximum danger* As someone who grew up with the N64 and GBA (my controller was Atomic Purple) this is delightful, and puts the pedal obsession in context. Wow that’s totally awesome, Emily. I never thought I would see a v.g console inspired effect pedals. That is quite innovative. The effects sounded pretty cool. I dig the bit crusher, the distortion, and the fuzz. If they make a chorus and flanger pedal, that would be awesome. 😎🤘🏻🎸
I've watched this one a few times. What a neat idea. For a beginner who had no clue what pedal should go first or sounds better when put after something or before or...yeah pedals are a dizzying wonderful world of aural delight and this concept is going to make it easier for me to experiment with different sounds. I went and got these last night after your video. They can't come soon enough. Hope you play around with these on your livestream!
That fuzz sounds absolutely rad, and I like when you drop little serious notes like the sample. Also, I didn't even know you could GET double-bladed box cutters. Poor Russ didn't see that one coming.

as an effects fiend and an N64 fan, this whole thing just warms my heart 😁 I just noticed, when you adjusted the knob on the delay cart, it responded like an analog delay. I have the MXR Carbon Copy delay and a Boss ME50-B bass multi-effects unit (including digital delay), and being able to warp sounds just by adjusting the knobs is super fun! but the digital delay makes all these strange chopping noises (think of the "Why the long face" song from the last episode of BoJack Horseman), which is a neat sound in its own way, but I prefer the more subtle gradual shift on an analog delay, like you're messing with the pitch control of a record player by gradually speeding up or slowing down the platter. whoever put this together knows their stuff
Mind actually blown, holy cow!! I really love this as an overal concept, and would be super fun to just mess around with on the desk with a keyboard, with the fun of changing 'game' cartridges. Bravo to the peep(s) who made this come to fruition, super cool
