    As a 2016 owner of the same car, I'm not seeing enough updates to warrant upgrading. Same gated shifter, laggy shifts, and actually slower 0-60 now for some reason, on paper. It is a well-built machine--the engine is solid, the ride is confidence inspiring, it's just not keeping up with the competition. Cosmetic changes and a bigger infotainment screen are all I see.
    A note to any potential owners: f-sport seats look awesome, and feel good for 2-hour drives, but not ideal for long trips. There is no adjusting the camber, and with a staggered tire set up (225 front, 255 rear) there is excessive wear inside edges at the rear. Almost like they set it for 225 all around then added the wider tires on back (my 225 winters all around do not have this wearing issue). A minor annoyance, but it's an enjoyable ride every time. An extremely reliable car.

      BINGO! i was going to say what you wrote to a T, but you beat me to it. Toyota keeps touting how much work went into this refresh, but its simply not evident in the results, still seems to understeer like crazy at the limit, super slow (by todays standards) shifts, lackluster power output from an ancient drivetrain..... about the only real good update they did was add a mechanical LSD, but that's not going to change the nature of the ride that was designed to be "confidence inspiring" which is corporate speak for "boring ride".
      I'll keep looking at much better alternatives, like the Cadillac CT4 V, Mercedes A35-C43, Genesis G70, BMW 330i\340i, Infiniti Q50 3.0t (not the best, but huge potential with a few simple mods).

    • @elusivellama

      I can help answer, the interior room is adequate. I'm 5 11", slim, and can sit behind myself with 3" between my knees and the back of the seat, and the same space between the headliner and my head. It's not spacious like on a GS, but I think it's usable.

      I have a 2019 IS350 AWD F-Sport and I'm strongly contemplating upgrading to a future IS350 in the same spec, just like you're going from 2014 to 2021. It's the perfect blend of every day daily driveability, comfort, luxury, sport, AWD (for winter, + winter tires), and tech like blind spot monitoring / adaptive cruise, and so on.
      I think it's basically the perfect sporty sedan for me, even though the competition may be faster. The 330i has a 2.0T and it's faster than the IS350, but I don't care, naturally aspirated V6 for the win.

    I don't get the hate of all those who constantly whine about the lack of Lexus performance, lack of sound etc.
    This one is a gorgeous car inside and out. It's comfy to drive and has a nice pickup. I had people in my car and it's so quiet inside, they didn't know that the engine was running... just as I like it.
    I am one of those that prefers quiet cars that perform well and people don't hear them a mile away. You guys want noise, do a muffler delete, etc.
    I think it's juvenile! It's my daily driver from one photoshoot location to another (I am a photographer in NYC) and it has a great pick up in traffic and highways.

    It’s hard updating perfection . Keep making them reliable. Improve on tech without compromising the overall durability, it’s smart to not get in the tech race though because if you do, you’re forced to update and keep up with it and risk stuff breaking and going to shits too early like Benz but once you commit and attract those type of customers , you hVe to stay in the race. Lexus attracts different breeds of folks. We like elegance, reliability but Benz attracts the more tech savvy .. wave and trend riding folks

      yeah, I'm not a fan at all of the newest gen Lexus radio stack, period. My biggest gripe, which may be petty, is there's nowhere to put your phone where it's accessible. I understand that I could use a magnetic A/C vent clip, but even then, there's no ledge that the phone would rest on, so any bumps would guarantee to send the phone crashing down to the center console area. I think ever car should consider where driver can safely lay their phone. You should at least be able to glance at it if, for instance, you're using it for navigation. I never use the one built into the car.

      @jaysefmacmanus8858 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Dylan Matthew There is a lot more to a vehicle than numbers on a spec sheet, or performance data. I, for one, appreciate the conservative redesign. I will also gladly take a proven, naturally aspirated V6 over a turbo 4 pot everyday of the week, twice on Sunday. 0-60 times be damned.

    • @jaysefmacmanus8858
      @jaysefmacmanus8858 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Dylan Matthew Perhaps you meant the Lexus IS?
      I find the interior of the Lexus to be a nicer place to spend time than the 330i. Suspension is not too firm, yet it doesn't flop around when you throw it into a corner. I find the torque curve of the NA V6 to be far more predictable of the elastic feeling of a turbo 4 coming in and out of boost during throttle modulation. (The latter is especially important on track). Speaking of track driving, the Lexus have far better heat management than the 330i (oil temp gets lofty on the street alone). This means more time is spent driving rather than shutting down due to thermal limitations.
      I only mention the 330i because I find it to be its closest competitor. (the base M340 is costs more than a loaded IS) The MB C series is not even worth mentioning in my opinion.
      Look, I'm not really trying to change your opinion, more just defending a product which I think you misunderstand. I'm not even arguing that the IS is best in its segment, more just saying that it is not an "embarassment" either. Do with that what you want. Cheers.

      I rather have reliability. All that tech is why Mercedes Benz are junk, BMW, the list goes on. I wonder why Toyota is so popular and expensive when used. Rather spend more money on gas and luxury then on constant repairs that cost more than gas in a year.

      @Dylan Matthew The infotainment does suck, I'll give you that. I don't know which cars you have been sitting in, though. The Lexus interior outshines the 330i's by a long shot. Far more design elements, variation in material, the 330i's interior is more dull looking than a Crown Vic. The BMW's screen isn't even integrated into the dash, just stuck on like an afterthought.
      IDK, we just may have to agree to disagree, because I'm clearly not seeing what you're seeing.

    I don't understand why people complain about the interior, it's right about perfect. The only flaw in the interior that the pre-refresh one had is that the infotainment system had that stupid mouse and non-touch screen, the refresh fixes that. Maybe you could argue that the analog clock is stupid, but that's a minor detail. For me, it's the exterior that's worse, the pre-refresh one just looks better in the rear.

      Ikr. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy any of the car in this mighty channel.

    Agh! The trans/computer doesn't let you redline in the sportiest setting. You can see at 5:03 that the car shifts for you at redline before he even pressed the paddle shifter. The whole point of a manual setting in an automatic car is to let you have manual control of the gear shift, I want 0 interference!

    just letting you know that the transmission is not a 6 speed automatic as listed in the bio, it is a 8-speed automatic

    I would definitely buy one if they had put the B58 Turbo in it.

    So cabin is still the same except for large screen. Lexus is it possible we can get the large screen installed aftermarket if you have a ‘15 and up IS350 Fsport?

    Aesthetics of this car is excellent. Powertrain is sub par though. The very noticeable delay in paddle shifter shift time is very aggravating.
