- Heyy! Thanks for being here on my booktube. This video is going to be very controversial i'm sure 🫣 and I hope we can all get along and appreciate how books can be loved and hated by different people. 😉 I read booktok romance books for a week as a little bit of a book taste test and the odds werent very good. I only liked 1 out of the 3 books I tried during this reading vlog. The books included here are Hooked, If He Had Been With Me & Magnolia Parks and I REALLY loved one of them!

I love that you tried both physically and audibly reading that book. I will wonder so often to myself if I’d only tried physically reading a book it could have been better. Or if I’d been listening to something it would have gripped me more and I would’ve enjoyed it. So I appreciate you telling us your opinion on both.

Hey! Thanks for watching 😘 I definitely find that I’m less gripped by a book if I only do the audio. It’s crazy how a narrators voice can ruin a whole story 😂

🥰 Well, this might not be an activity you would like, but maybe you can read a sports romance for different sports: hockey, football and baseball, etc. and compare them.

@@Jordan_elaine Yay! Hope you realize that I wasn't trying to act snooty or anything when I said I wouldn't have chosen these books that you did. Just stating my personal taste but now when I read it back, I sound judgemental.

I’m sure each dark romance is different but it’s very very “smutty” with a villain trope 🧐 I have friends who really liked Hooked so I think it’s about knowing what’s your type of book 😉

Thanks for the tips, but I wouldn't have chosen high school angsty love issues anyway. And love stories with choking is never ok with me. I hate controlling men like that. So I can't agree with your choices. I did make exception for your Chloe Walsh books and enjoyed them so I never say never. I don't know about Magnolia Parks personally, hmm... To each his own book, though! Hope your dog is ok! I have 3 cats and a small dog and they are everything to me, as my kids are grown.

I wondered if you would DNF Hooked. When you hauled it I was like 😬. I haven’t read it but heard it was pretty dark. I wonder if you would like The Ravenhood series by Kate Stewart. I wasn’t sure I would like it because of the content but talk about heart breaking. I still haven’t read the 3rd book because I don’t know if I can handle more pain. 😂

I read about two chapters of Magnolia Parks and was just bored. I want to read it and like it so badly. Bummed to hear about Hooked. That was high on my list to hopefully buy soon )possibly with the bogo 50 percent at target) but maybe not not. The If He Had Been With Me I keep going back and forth on for that reason. I have heard it is so high schooling and I just can’t do that with all the little drama etc. I love a good book that tears me up though so only reason I’m still wondering about it.
The end of If he had been with me really wasn’t worth pushing through the whole book (imo). And if you like A LOT of smut then try hooked but sadly it just wasn’t my thing 😕 I hope you can try mag parks again when it’s a better time you may be more into it 😉

Of these books, I've only read Magnolia Parks! I gave it 4. I liked it a lot but I never watched Gossip Girl and everyone compared it to that. Have you? I'm about to start the 3rd in the series. Thanks for another great reading vlog. ❤️

Re: Hooked…I know we’re supposed to say that all reading is valid but there are definitely some books that, I feel, do harm. Like the idea that some people find entertainment in certain things is really concerning to me.

I do see what you mean. Even with magnolia parks, a friend and I were saying how we hate the thought of a younger generation reading this in their teens and thinking this is what “love” is like. 🫣
