Hi Dan! I'm actually using a ThermoPen for checking the temperature of food! It works surprisingly well to give you a general idea of the barrel temp. I've since built my own cooling setup and may do a video on that one day. Thanks for watching my friend!
no control group!? TO see barrel temperature without the little gizmo? I'm returning mine - doesn't blow nearly enough air; I'm not waiting 10 minutes between strings and replacing a CR123 every trip to the range.
Hi Scott! Yeah, I didn't add a control group, sorry. I've moved on from this unit and built my own based on another video I saw using parts from Amazon. The new homemade unit really cools the barrel down quickly and I'll probably release a video on that one with a control group AND the last cooler I used. Thanks for watching!
Hello Sir, first of all, it's a nice explanation 👍. I have one qn...Is there any inbuilt barrel cooling technology for mid/large caliber guns ( like during automatic firing mode, when u take rest for a while, the cooling system starts itself and it can be on/off manually also) ?? As I'm a mechanical engineering student, I thought of designing such inbuilt cooling system, haven't found such ideas much on internet. So, can u help me in this regard??
Hi Umesh! Great idea! The challenge is that you're dealing with such great pressures in the chamber during the firing process and you'd need to somehow incorporate the cooling process into the rifle itself, which would be difficult. I believe that you'd still need to physically insert the cooler into the chamber like this one. Thanks for watching!
@@The4GunGuy Thank u Sir, for ur guide.😊 So, I'll try to design it ( I'll start with a basic rifle - AR 15 model , as different rifles need different inbuilt structure ) , and If I need any further help.. Can I contact here?? Or, can I have ur contact no. also.
Any thoughts on its ability to cool a mounted suppressor as well as the barrel? By the time my .308 barrel heats up into the 110's, the suppressor is so hot that mirage makes it very difficult to get a good sight picture. And, yes I do use a high quality suppressor wrap.
Hi Rodi53! I've actually moved on to a homemade version that pushes much more air down the barrel and doesn't burn through batteries. I'll make a video on that one very soon...Bought most everything on Amazon. Now, back to this one, I think it will take it considerably longer to also cool down the suppressor because in the initial barrel cooling stage it's still pushing hot air out of the barrel and through the suppressor, so you'll need that "barrel air" to be cool enough to begin cooling the Suppressor...Hope I'm making some sense here! Thanks for watching my friend!
Hi SM! I've actually built my own barrel cooler via amazon parts. It's a bit loud, but it's not the annoying high-pitch that this thing has, plus, I'm using a rechargeable fan, so I don't go through batteries now! I'll do a video on it soon. Thanks for watching my friend!
Thank you for the video and info on product. What is the barrel temp gauge you are using visible beginning at 8:46 of the video?

Any idea of some of the other barrel coolers are more or less loud?
