"In the shadowed depths of the world, far below the fair lands of Middle-earth, beneath even the roots of the Misty Mountains, lies a realm unknown to the sun and moon. There dwell creatures of ancient malice and mystery, beings of which little is known, even by the wise. These are the Nameless Things, creatures whose origins are shrouded in the mists of the Elder Days, if indeed they hail from a time that can be measured at all.
The deepest delvings of the Dwarves, in their quest for mithril and precious stones, ventured into the dark abysses, yet even they did not reach the profound depths where the Nameless Things reside. For in the heart of the world, in the uttermost darkness where the fires of the earth burn hottest, these entities roam. What semblance they bear, none can say, for they are seldom glimpsed, and those who behold them seldom live to tell the tale. Their forms, if forms they have, are veiled in shadow and terror.
Some, it is said, are remnants of the ancient world, born of the chaos before the shaping of Arda. Others whisper that they are the spawn of Morgoth's malevolent design, creatures he wrought in the dark pits of Angband and beyond. Yet there are tales, too, that claim these beings predate even Morgoth, that they are echoes of the discord that marred the Music of the Ainur, entities born from the deep dissonances that underlie the very fabric of creation.
In the records of lore, few references to these creatures can be found. The wisest among Elves and Men speak only in hushed tones of them, for to even name them is to invite their dark presence. Gandalf, the Grey Pilgrim, who ventured through the mines of Khazad-dûm, hinted at their existence. He spoke of things far more ancient and terrible than Balrogs, things that gnaw the roots of the earth. “Far, far below the deepest delvings of the Dwarves,” he said, “the world is gnawed by Nameless Things.”
The terror they inspire is not born merely of their mystery, but of the sheer primordial power they embody. They are creatures unbound by the constraints of the world above, immune to the passage of time and the decay of ages. Their very essence seems to be drawn from the abyssal void, an amalgamation of darkness and dread. To encounter one is to face the raw, untamed fear that lurks in the hearts of all living things, a fear as old as the world itself.
There are few who have braved the deep places and lived to tell of it. The Dwarves of Moria, hardy and brave as they were, spoke of whisperings in the dark, of eyes that gleamed like distant stars in the uttermost blackness. The Orcs, too, despite their cruelty and malice, feared to tread too deep, for even their black hearts quailed at the presence of the Nameless Things. They spoke in their guttural tongue of shapes that moved in the shadows, of talons and fangs that dripped with the venom of ages.
Yet, for all their fearsome reputation, the Nameless Things remain, by and large, a mystery. What purpose they serve, if purpose they have, is unknown. Perhaps they are but the remnants of a forgotten age, lingering on in the dark places of the world. Or perhaps they await some dark summons, a call to rise from the depths and walk the world once more. Such thoughts are best left to the dark corners of the mind, lest their contemplation invite the very doom they portend.
In the grand tapestry of Middle-earth, the Nameless Things are but a thread, albeit a dark and twisted one. They are a reminder of the vast unknown that lies beneath the surface, a realm untouched by the light of stars and sun. As long as the world endures, they will remain, lurking in the shadows, a testament to the ancient and enduring mysteries that even the wisest cannot fully fathom. For in the depths, where light has never ventured, the Nameless Things reign supreme, guardians of the secrets of the deep places of the earth."

Yes, there are definitely plenty of tentacles. I’m not sure if Tolkien read anything by Lovecraft, but they definitely had overlapping influences. Or maybe my mind just takes me to Lovecraftian places :o)

@@night-morrow My mind was mostly on Lovercraftian Mythos when I listened to that ambient. Your work is definately one of my favourites along with the worl from Rest of The Wicked producer. I am a avid World of Darkness and Call Of Cthulhu player and the ambient is amazing to set the mood. Keep up the good work!
