    Great video!
    How do you keep track of which papers you have already read and which are yet to be read? And how do you keep notes of the highlighted points of a paper you have read?
    Lastly, can you do a video on choosing grad schools and professors? I'm at the last semester of cs undergrad and would like to pursue a PhD as well

      afsara benazir in mendeley it says which you have read and which you haven’t and I write some notes in there. When I’m reading for an specific topic I will keep a draft with the main points for that topic. Honestly I don’t know much about the application process for grad school as I was recommended to apply for mine from a professor in my university that I’ve done my undergraduate and masters in

    Especially the Algorithm is in greeks myth. Can you kindly advice on how we could understand the Algorithm functions and formula stated in the Journal? For instance, the CAP Theorem and Models are written in Greek and mathematical symbol most of the time. I have been reading the same paper for two months now and doesn't help me to progress further to conclude the theorem in my research on Blockchain. Hope to hear from you soon.

      did you try to find any papers that cite the paper you are trying to read? sometimes the author does not provide the best understanding of the concept and reading what somebody else has said may help

    Awesome video! What if you have an idea you want to explore but don't have a paper in mind (unlike in this video where you do), how would you do a literature review? And a related question: how do you identify the "classic" paper on a subject that gets cited repeatedly and every researcher is expected to know if you're unfamiliar with that subject?

    • @PhDandProductivity
      @PhDandProductivity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi there. So this is me conducting a citation tracing from a paper that I know already for this topic. If you have not yet come across any papers for your topic you would like to research then you need to conduct a literature search (this I had done before and how I found the paper). I'm planning to do another video like this in the future where I share this process. You need to make a long list of keywords for the topic that you then use to find the papers. And then you can read the titles and abstracts and keep those you feel are interesting and relevant. Hope that helps

    Hello, l would value your thoughts on Mendeley. When l save files in Mendeley as a new document, if l move file for example from my desktop to a folder the link is broken and the file no longer exists. Have you found this? Thanks so much.

    • @PhDandProductivity
      @PhDandProductivity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I don't keep files on my desktop for that reason, only in Mendeley. So I always download from the browser using the mendeley browser plugin

    • @PhDandProductivity
      @PhDandProductivity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you move the file you need to re-upload the folders

    • @amirahwahab
      @amirahwahab 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      am using Mendeley software on PC. i would like to share how i normally saved my files. after the article is downloaded, i will drag and drop or add the file on Mendeley. then, i click SYNC few times before the file is deleted from my desktop (i just cannot see too many files on my desktop-folders). Double click the file until you see a loading % bar at the bottom. And terrrrra the file is open and ready to read and highlight. hope it helps😀

    how to propose our own methodology after finding a gap? for example this paper presented CBR approach if we have to have our approach how can we do that?

    • @PhDandProductivity
      @PhDandProductivity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Applied research can still be novel even if it is adapting previous approaches to new areas
