I looked back two years and was astonished that no one answered the question: "What does Maputo mean?" It's the main city in Mozambique, a beautiful East African country.
Played this CD and song so many times rolling down the highway commuting to and from work. Love reminiscing about the life and times of those good old days. Bob James writes beautiful music.
Definitely Bob James is undoubtedly one of the greatest contributors of good and talented songs in the world of Jazz. I have been following his music since I was studying at the university in the 80's and these songs like Maputo, Restoration, Angela and others remind me of long nights of study in preparation for exams. Thanks Bob, I'm still listening to you and your songs.
But Maputo is not one of Bob's songs....he simply was featured on it along with Dave [Sanborn]. The song was written and produced by Marcus Miller, who also played bass on it. Give credit where credit is due, or perhaps you weren't aware....in which case that's why I'm writing you.
Hey , hi , how r u doing?? My personal FAVOURITE Bob James tune is Woman of Ireland , do you know &/or like it ??? God BLESS you n e way & His Peace REMAIN with you allways
I believe it's called aural suspension. The ear is under audio stress because it strains to hear what it deems the correct harmonics. If you play this several times and concentrate you will hear a different mode in the melody that is a counterpoint to what the ears thinks is should be...This suspension is resolved when the instruments are again all on the same musical progression and key at the ending of the piece. .
R.I.P. to a legend. Your wonderful music will live on.
R.I.P David Sanborn.
This performance is how I came to know him, absolutely love this live version more than the studio version because of him.

wow!!!!!!
Is it just me or is this amazing until about 6:10. Then it just brings discord to a new level. Completely wrong notes!
It made seem to fall apart at that point but that’s just the “greats” improvising!

.
I think it is called Jazz :-)
I just enjoy where the music takes me. It's always good when these guys are playing.
Improvization. I think the guy on the sound mixing board messed up. Can't hear the piano...
I know The Crusaders also made a version of this song. Both are very good.
When will you come again to MAPUTO?
No mention of the amazing Ricky Peterson on B3?
and tho Harvey was mentioned.... in 8 minutes, no display of flare from him.
What a performance in music!!!.

뭐만 검색하면 일본 라이브는 다 있어😂
Nathan East is not playing this song with correct feel.
Digital is not Jazz. Synthesizer is not for Jazz.
