I got a double action ultratech because I had an accident that messed up my hand. I needed a good utility knife that I could still open one handed with my jacked up hand. Got the one with a serrated blade. I figured that'd shut anyone up about it being a weapon and not a tool. Man was I wrong. Love my knife, and my only complaint is really that some people turn stupid when they see it.
The texture on the trigger was annoying to me at first (nerve damage makes my hand weird) but now that I'm used to it I realize how perfect it is. Looks good and keeps grip. I was gifted a piranha auto (side opening) and I couldn't feel the button with my bad hand most of the time. Such a dumb little thing that matters more than I thought.
yup if you read on you will notice each county has the right to set up regulations of blade length or restriction Alameda County where I live the restriction is 3 inches on folding knives
ssbrosking36 but California is hot and right by the beautiful Pacific Ocean So what, a knife that's clearly dangerous and logically illegal is, well, illegal Yeah it's a cool knife but it's reasonable that they'd outlaw it

I have a giant military and police automatic knife (switch and button and opening assist) (with a glass breaker tip on the other end) and I'm pretty sure the blade is 3 inches or more so I hope one of these is legal to carry in Tennessee
you can by anything from PVKNIFE.com clearly states it's up to the buyer to adhere to all local state and federal laws. i've bought knives from josh for years. he's honest and reputable and not to mention a very nice guy. recently moved from Amherst, MA (my home state) to Las Vegas. they were busting his balls in Massachusetts. you'll find most companies will sell you autos based on the buyer adhering to local blah blah blah blah....

Over here in Oregon we're allowed to carry ballistic knives. Also the laws for concealing knives don't include carrying it in your pocket. It would be something like not telling the cops you had it if they were to ask or hiding it in your shoe or something. At least that's what google said
Australia. I don't believe we can import any double sided or "fighting" knives. It doesn't, but it doesn't need one. Unlike a regular automatic knife with a button, the blade isn't under any kind of tension. If the knife undergoes some kind of crazy mechanical failure while closed, the blade won't shoot out because there's nothing forcing it to. The act of sliding the action forward is what builds spring tension, meaning that moving the button requires a solid amount of effort, more than it would get sitting around in your pocket.
runningsandwich - - That being said (& please, correct me if I'm wrong): If someone were to be asinine enough & put the opening right up against their arm - - it couldn't potentially travel through the arm correct? My guess is there simply wouldn't be enough force provided by the button/spring action right?
I sadly live in California as well, I've been wanting to get an otf myself, but when ordering it always ask if I'm some sort of supplier or first response unit (which I am not), how would I go about acquiring a knife like this? I sure as hell ain't getting one of those CA legal glorified auto box cutters either, not for that price.

Hey man nice videos, but does this knife have a button lock? I've been looking at this I really wanna buy it but I don't want it to deploy in my pocket haha.
bryan #308 there isn't any mechanical safety but the spring tension in the mechanism behind the trigger is heavy some people actually have trouble activating the knife with their hands but this gives the benefit of it not going off in your pocket and the Blade deploying more powerfully
Shawn Clashes if I had to have one as a user it would be the ludt it's more reliable better working blade profile but as a collector's piece or or straight defensive weapon the ultratech would win
Danny Herlihy that's complicated state it is illegal to carry a knife in Illinois if you intend to commit a crime with however I do believe automatic knives are illegal unless you have your CCW or FOID card

What do you mean? You can have an OTF knife that is under 2" blade length in California and you can own it. It is not illegal to own or carry in California.
Kenyon Gladstone depends on who you ask OTF are not known to be the most reliable knife design that does not mean they're unreliable just more things to go wrong I would say as long as you keep it clean and in good working order yes but it's not the kind of knife you throw in your pocket every day for years and not worried about it
CA knife laws are actually surprisingly lenient compared to other states. Automatics are legal, only the blade cannot be 2+ inches. Double-edged are allowed.
