      It's not a fair comparison between solid axle and independent front suspension, you know that that suspension on this truck is designed for highway driving. To have a fair comparison, you have to bring an offroader with an independent front suspension, such as a G wagon or a hummer or a raptor or maybe a Polaris even it's not from the same category. You are just a fan of a solid axle and you don't 🙈 see any long travel independent suspension. Please show a real example and don't bring a knife to a gun fight

      Zr2 vs Gladiator would have been better to be honest, they both have front and rear lockers and are both mid size trucks. Also would have been a better comparison between ride quality and articulation because the Zr2 has those dssv shocks, that are really good off road and on road.

  • @officialyasir

    At around 9:50, the Silverado rear wheel was lifting up more than the gladiator because of the longer wheelbase, not because gladiator has a solid front axle as Tommy stated.

    • @Moab12
      @Moab12 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      10” longer wheelbase would contribute to it, but the SFA and the rear coil springs in Jee would absolutely be the main reason. Look how the Chevy passenger front wheel isn’t articulating into the fender like the Gladiator did.

      The Trail Boss is a mild off-road package that comes with a 2" level and 32" Duratracks (not 33" like on the Rebel). The suspension isn't off-road tuned, just raised for clearance. Also the locker is auto type, not a E-locker. Either way, that's a stock package, so it counts as stock.

    What is not mentioned by TFL is Trail Boss measurements are way bigger! More room for family, gear, towing and every day fun!
    Length 231.7”
    Wheelbase 147.4”
    Width 81.2”
    Curb Weight 5190
    Ground clearance 10.9”
    Gladiator
    Length 218”
    Wheelbase 137.3”
    Width 73.8”
    Curb weight 4691
    11.6” Standard Ground Clearance but it’s modified to be more then 11.6”
    So the Trail Boss did exceptionally well for being way bigger truck!
    Why doesn’t TFL point this out during articulation test and other clearance tests?
    Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss is the best choice for on and off roading hands down for this stock truck segment. Aggressive enough for some challenging off roading but yet family friendly for everyday use.
    Holds its own against aftermarket modified competitors.

    • @MrJamesLuz
      @MrJamesLuz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Uh.....GM hasn’t had much better reliability than FCA. The weak rear axle with G80, the cylinder deactivation system that is junk, and the interiors that fall apart. Give me a pre-recession LS motor, those are bullet proof. But new GM? Lacking.

    • @ryancoates872
      @ryancoates872 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MrJamesLuz I disagree. The new cylinder deactivation is improved, and if you don’t trust it, buy a cheap tuner to get rid of it, g80 is very reliable in my experience if you give it time to lock, interiors are simple and will work if taken care of with leather treatment and cleaning protection. Will be just a good as any other plastic interior on a ford or ram.

    • @SSMJ
      @SSMJ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan Coates Do you know why all the serious off rotors I know with Chevy trucks switch out the G 80? Because it’s not good to have an axle that locks with wheel speed, especially if you’re actually doing something difficult. The old G80 “gov lock” is famous for one thing, breaking axle shafts.

    • @SSMJ
      @SSMJ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also just gonna throw this out there, if you actually check reliability reports, wranglers and gladiators (I’m assuming considering the power train is identical to the wrangler) are very reliable vehicles. It’s the renegade, compasses, and grand cherokees and that are known for having issues and bring down the FCA reliability rating. Feel free to google that.
