      The months heading up to my July delivery date are going to feel like forever. Ordering a front bull bar and snorkel. And there is a very simple solution to not using so much gas. Stop PLANTING YOU FOOT SO MUCH. It is a 1.5L Inline 4, yes they can rev, but you have been doing it since you got it and you should have been taking it easy on the BRAND NEW ENGINE for the first 1000kms to drive it in porperly. I promise if you started taking it easier on the wee car, you should get the fuel use down to at 6.5 to 7L/Km. As a helpful hint, even though it is brand new, might pay to check the mechanical bit just to make sure all the thrashing you have been doing hasn't damaged anything as a precaution.
      It is a bit funny though, all the things you have mentioned are some of the reasons im getting one. I like simple cars, less to go wrong. I actually asked the sales woman if it was at all possible to get manual window winders 🤣

      It's fine if a car doesn't come with many electronics. What isn't fine is charging consumers the same price as a car that DOES have electronics.
      This new Jimny probably costs next to nothing for Suzuki to produce, yet they are charging a fortune for what it actually is.

    In a Jimny you have adventures, not car trips! Btw, my standard Jimny’s fuel consumption is 6.9l/100km. All the other things are true, but I like to think of them as adding character rather than subtracting space/tefinement/performance etc…😁 I shouldn’t, but I love it to bits!

    The fact is you stuffed your Suzuki Jimny. Changed the tyres, overloaded the roof, lose the rack and awning, you increased wind resistance, turned off factory safety controls and drove too fast on the highway. The 4WD Buggy winch is a good idea as are max tracks, carried on the spare wheel. A long range fuel tank would be a good extra. Keep the extra fuel down low and out of the cabin. definitely not on the roof.
    The original WW2 Jeeps topped out at 55 Miles per hour or or 90 Kilometres Per Hour. The cruising speed was lower 45 MPH or 70 KPH.
    The Suzuki Jeep is an off road vehicle. Drive it at 45 MPH and see how sweet it is,
    And it has 3 rear view mirrors, don't overload the back.
    A very versatile farm vehicle. Drive around the paddocks 5 days a week, into town to shop on Saturday and the Missus can drive you to church on Sunday. I love 'em, Jimnys not the Missus.

    That's a very cool Jimny!✌️👍😊
    l always loved our early Jimnys even with their quirks and fobbles. With the latest version, instead of taking it off of the UK market, why didn't they put in their SCross 1.0L, LP Turbo, 3 cylinder engine? That's a good unit, makes the - basically small SUV style estate car - SCross pretty lively, good and torquey and returns really good mpg too (not sure how long the motor or turbo will last, but hey it's a Suzuki, so probably a long time). Also some extra sound proofing etc? Perfect, small 4x4. I note on the new low spec Swift's though, they lack sound proofing too, come on Suzuki you're better than that😉✌️
    Very capable off roaders and very liveable with on road, merely horses for courses 😉😊👍
    Even on Eg the SCross with engine under trays, they get filthy, same through entire range from what I can tell - a nuisance at its worst, no biggy though.

    • @LifeofSmokey
      @LifeofSmokey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They just know their N/A engines will never break down in a Jimny. A 1.0 turbo engine is most likely gonna have problems when the car is stuck and does some high revving 😅. Or maybe they had a couple more thousand 1.5 engines just laying around and it was cheaper 😅

    • @musoseven8218
      @musoseven8218 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LifeofSmokey Thanks for the reply, I understand that - good points 👍😉😊 We used to have a saying when I first started work - back in the day in the motor trade - 'turbos double the bhp and halve the engine life'. We'll see with our SCross, at least the turbo is easy to get at if it's just wear and tear, if it let's go? That's another matter, a stuffed engine. Yh Suzuki could have lots of 1.5 motors sat about but, as the SJ is so popular in the UK? Change the engine, get em sold. Of course the elephant in the room is the hype around climate change (and our cuckold, useless, treasonous woke govt.). Don't get me wrong, there is some carbon climate change going on, but the real climate change issues are being ignored. The love of money and greed are basically the drivers for the changes we're seeing Plus smug self entitleds driving Tesla's in the Cotswolds? A) The Lithium supply chain is filthy and dangerous B) To the best of my knowledge, there's no LiPo battery recycling facilities (ask Elon Musk he even approached our military). C) After a battery goes the car is virtually a write off. Hadn't some manufacturers gotten petrol burning so good, only water vapour came out of the exhaust? Then there is synthetic petrol and, HFC's. The new SJ has gotten caught in the cross fire and then the pandemic hit. The headlong rush towards electric power? Would have been okay if LiPo batteries weren't involved and Nikola Tesla's free energy had been adopted instead - tptb wouldn't like that though would they, free energy for everything on the planet. BTW his experiments were successful and repeatable. Without Nikola Tesla's there wouldn't be the modern electric age, Edison was a dunce by comparison 😉😊✌️

    I was disappointed that they didn't come to the US, but then again they already had more tech on them than I wanted. I loved my Samurai. The only tech was an AM/FM radio that really din't pick up either brand very well. But what did work very well, was the truck itself. Very simple, very basic, and about 26mpg. I once snatch recovered a stuck Jimny while driving a Land Cruiser Prado. I didn't consider reduced weight of the Jimny and gave er gas like I was recovering a heavy normal rig my size. I also expected the usual point of tension where my vehicle stops and I use power to pull it forward. Well lol, not only did the point of tension not so much as stop (or even slow down) my vehicle, but instead, according to onlookers, the Jimny launched forward, rear tires in the air first, then it tumbled down the uneven ground "like a cardboard box blowing in the wind", never settling on more than one tire at a time as I dragged it, until I stopped lol.
    The rope I had was made to create extra tension, by stretching a bit, like an elastic, which creates extra energy to pull the stuck vehicle farther forward after the initial snatch, and they work great. Just not on lighter vehicles🤣

    The main thing that keeps me away is the fuel usage. The "Official" is 6.4L/100 for the 2020 model, but in reality that is probably more like 7.5-8L/100, add on a lift and big tyres and you'll probably hit 10L/100 for a 1.5L engine, especially if you live in a country with garbage roads. It's alot considering I had a 2001 Mazda B2600 with the 2.6L Petrol that used 10-12L/100 with a leaking injnector and no exhaust pipe for a year.

    I love the Jimmy such fun little cars. I don't own one, I have the escudor though although about to change that for a land cruiser. I really wish they would have out the 1.4l turbo booster jet engine that is in my Suzuki Escudor. It is very fast. 0-60mph in about 8 secs which for a SUV of that class is quite lively. Main thing it has plenty of torque and would make that Jimmy unstoppable off road, especially if you put on after market lockers on it. The booster jet engine is also way better on fuel economy. I can get 17k/l and more motorway cruising and about 13 just running around in general. I have driven the latest Jimmy and that 1.5l engine is useless totally underpowered even for a small car. The 660cc turbo k version we have here is actually just as fast and gets about the same fuel economy.But the car itself I do like a lot. Very capable off road, more than most people realise and they look so damn cool too. Basic as anything inside, but then as an offroader that is what you want. Reliable, easy to clean and you don't have to worry if you get a scratch on it. But that engine, it sucks, why Suzuki opted for that crappy engine when they could have simply put the 1.2L booster jet engine from the Ignis or the 1.4L from the escudor straight into that Jimmy.

    my dad got a jimny today. i was able to drive around with it for about an hour. i can see why people love it. it is fun to drive.
    but one of the first thing i notice is the lack of storage space LoLs theres that 2 cup holders. lolols.
    it isnt a family car. 2 grown men can barely sit infront. LoLs. its kinda like sitting at an economy class w your friend, sharing a chair arm together. LoLs.
    i then went home and got some parcels that i need to ship out. the storage space with the 2 seats folded down is pretty useless. lols.
    fun factor is through the roof, however. and this is a lifestyle vehicle.
    i wont give up my regular sized suv anytime for this. but yea i can see the appeal. i smile alot when i drive this car. i dont think i can ever say the same thing with my suv that you can see everywhere you turn. hahaha.

More Bare Metal is what we want in 4wds to control RUST. why do you want that crap info on little lcd screen? you only need the two guages in a Jimny. and if you worry about dust, dirt, mud and poop buy a volvo and dont go offroad.
