Salmon fishing on the River Tweed - October 2023

I head to the Horsburgh beat of the river Tweed to try my hand at some back end salmon fishing.

Hi Robert,fished there in the 70’s on the Peebles AA Trout permit,no hotel then eh and just the houses bye the road. The island was only the size of a dinner table but now appears to be part of the Cardrona River bank,how the river changes over time eh.Really enjoying your fishing adventures pal and many more tight lines in the future,cheers.

Thanks for watching Andy. Yeah it’s insane how things change there, even on a yearly basis. Was looking at some old photos on the Cardrona beat Facebook page in the pre hotel days. It’s a beautiful area. Glad your enjoying the videos I’m actually heading back down to Horsburgh on Thursday so hopefully we can get a fish in the net this time.

Brilliant video Robert. Looks like a lovely stretch of river.
Can I ask do you have your camera on a chest mount or a shoulder strap? I’ve found the shoulder straps makes all the footage off kilter.

Thanks for watching glad you enjoyed the video! I use a cheap chest Mount I bought off Amazon which seems to do the trick so far.

@@robertdoesfishing nice! Thanks for sharing the link. I’ve found the horizon is so off on my shoulder mount that it takes me hours to fix everything in the edit.
A chest mount feels like the way to go.

Hi Clive, you won’t find Cardrona on Fishpal it’s availability and booking is on tweedbeats.com
It’s Horsburgh I was fishing which is available to book on Fishpal.
It’s essentially the same beat but Cardrona is the opposite (right) bank you see in my video and Horsbrugh is the left bank of the beat. Hope that makes sense give me a shout if you need any more info. I’m sure if you look at the info part of the Horsburgh beat listing on Fishpal there is a beat map.
