There was this post on Reddit that was much worse; the guy wasn’t bathing or brushing his teeth and he was constantly giving her UTIs because of how filthy he was. I remember saying the smell affected the mattress on her bed so bad she had to replace it. Hygiene is a strong line in the sand for me next to being a horrible person.

There's way more that goes into smells than that. If you don't keep your clean towels clean and they have bacteria on them, if you're stressed out, if you have a bad reaction to something in your diet. It's not that black and white. My friend showers and she stinks in one hour if she doesn't put any deodorant on, because she has cats that love to sleep in her clean towels, and the bacteria reacts and makes it smell bad in her pits. Thank God for deodorant.

That's how men act, it doesn't matter if you're a woman, a man or a trans. They got used to dating apps being doordash, gay community never had problems with it and some women seem to be fine with it too so they just ask.
It's not even a few. Im fully covered in winter clothes in my dating apps profiles, i have stated on my profile not looking for seggshual relationships and i still get dozens and dozens of men asking me where i am and letting me know where they are so i could go to them. Since i live in a touristic city it's even more common with men asking me to come to their hotel, airbnb or even van since 'it's their last night in town'.

In Jamaican culture it’s called ital it in compasses food, drink, products, clothing, behaviour, lifestyle etc. and there are things that can be used to if you don’t want to use chemical deodorant or shop made one. One if he smells like onions he might have a diet that consists of a lot of meals that contain onions. Lower in take of onions and for some people what they eat comes out through their pores making them smell like it and it’s not something that can be helped just the way their body works some people don’t notice it because it’s normal to them but he could also was and then use sodium bicarbonate on his armpits and then on the hotter days lemon and bicarbonate.

Body odor man - If he wants to stay crunchy granola, he can 1. eliminate onions and garlic from his diet, 2. shave his pits and groom his junk, then the next day rub 70-90% alcohol under his pits and elsewhere, then rub limes under his pits and let the lime juice dry completely before putting on his shirt. 3. Drink chlorophyll daily. 1 tablespoon in an 8oz glass of water. It is an internal deodorizer. If none of that helps , then he needs to go to the doctor. Also, gf could just leave him cuz he's a grown as$ stinky man resisting freshness.

I hope she finds someone who fits her preferences better 💖. I also smell like onions when I eat them. Most deodorants cause me an allergic reaction that make me sweat and smell worse 😣. I shower everyday. I think the issue is that he didn’t even try the natural deodorant. That’s not cool. He could even try baking soda and essential oils 🤷.
There are people who don’t mind body odor, so it may be a mismatch.
I’d say that he’s a white European is relevant. Many places outside of the US don’t have the same perfume/deodorant interests. Sometimes it’s something they tease US for. Perfumes/synthetic fragrances trigger chemical allergies like mine, so there are some sent free workplaces in the US.

While I don’t think one should date anyone who repulses that person, the armpit thing could be a dietary or health issue. (The fact that he didn’t even try the soap sounds more like a maturity problem.)
My skin and glands are sensitive to chemicals, and deodorant actually caused my sweat glands to get infections, bleed, close up, inflame and sometimes die. I even had a biopsy to make sure it wasn’t cancer. Naturally, that made my smell situation worse and showering only temporarily fixed it, then it was back with vengeance.
I actually realized at one point that it progressively got better after that point of assault, so I took a week or two to “air out”, wondering if it was my water or something else. It was awful, but then my smell improved for longer periods and overall was less acrid; I think my skin’s bacterial biome normalized. I had to examine my soap and then other things I put on my skin, including water, which led me to just making most at home to avoid bleeding and achey armpits.
I also found that I smelled after eating fast food, presumably because of the canola/soy oil they cook in that my body can’t process well. It happened with high-sulfur foods and asparagus as well, but I’m willing to suffer with that and use my homemade deodorant.

When someone is healthy, their natural odor can be quite lovely. I’m wondering if he’s not washing his pits properly and/or he’s re-wearing shirts.
I can’t wear most deodorants bc they make my skin peel off. So I swap my shirt mid-day if it gets too damp. There are natural alternatives to help mitigate the issue. Crystal sticks can help. Hydrogen peroxide, oils, beeswax, underarm pads, etc.
But I will never judge a human for smelling like onion. That’s what humans smell like when active enough. It’s important to shower asap tho once that happens. Wouldn’t wanna grow anything.

that third story is the reason i quit having casual hookups. I got married young to my first bf and his porn addiction impeded our sex life, so after we separated I didn't want another serious relationship but i did want to have some fun and play the field.
For me, sex doesn't have to be this crazy intimate thing; i don't really have my personal identity wrapped up in my physical form and find emotional and mental intimacy to be much more vulnerable than just physical. To sum it up I have no problem with casual sex.
what i have a problem with is the way that men behave. most of them are super entitled and selfish and demanding this way; it's such a turnoff.
I guess it shouldn't surprise me that the self absorbed gender with limited empathy would also show up the same way for casual sex as they do everything else. it just seems weird that we can't both feel respected and have a good time, why does it always have to be this male fantasy? Like bro I will literally give you sex with zero effort on your part if I feel like it, just don't be a selfish perv. They can't even do that. Like you could ask for NOTHING, no date, no connection, NOTHING, just sex, and they will find a way to fumble it. I don't think they want sex as much as they want to subjugate women. If they don't have to manipulate you into sleeping with them, they'll manipulate you into crossing whatever other boundary you might have. Sex isn't about mutual gratification for them; it's about a powerplay.

Yeah he is lazy! I can understand not wanting to use deodorant but you have to compensate for that. I told my male friend about how Im not ready for a relationship RN and I want a casual set up with this guy I met at the bar. It was going well at first but the guy eventually cancelled on our weekend plans, then texted me at 9 pm on Sunday night wanting to Netflix and chill. I said no and he never texted me again. My male friend was confused because I said I wanted something casual. He was like "isn't that exactly what you wanted, just sex with no commitment or strings attached". no... there's a MAJOR difference between a sketchy sneaky link and casual sexual partner who I know. He just couldn't wrap his head around the fact that women don't want to be treated like objects. It's pathetic how self centered they are

Also, the chemical thing is bs. Literally everything we eat, touch, lather, or interact with is comprised of chemicals, including our own bodies. It's the chemicals in his body thar stink. There are natural, organic and more health minded options like Lume if he doesn't want to go cheap drug store products - I can understand that even if I'm too cheap to partake myself - but to act like because something has chemicals in it that somehow justifies discounting deodorant entirely is just man baby behavior. I will never understand people who are okay with smelling bad. The owner of the computer shop I worked at in the early 2010s didn't believe in using deodorant either, or showering more than once a week. I stg I have _never_ encountered another human being in my entire life that stunk that bad. It was a mix of feet, hot garbage, and onions, and it would just permeate whatever space he was in. Eyes watered, gags were suppressed, breaths were held, Glade was sprayed when he left. It was _that_ bad. The shop did house calls and customers complained every time he went on a call. We finally sat him down and told him he reeked, it was affecting business, and if he didn't start showering daily and using deodorant we were all quitting.
I also had a roommate years ago that only showered every 7-10 days. His hair stuck to his head in greasy strips but he didn't think it was healthy to "disrupt his microbiome" with regular hygiene.
SHOCKINGLY both of these men were chronically single!

I am not saying that the man doesn't need to figure out something for it, but a lot of people don't understand how the body works. People can't take multiple showers a day, every day, without messing up their skin. Sweating is natural and some people have a stronger smell and produce more sweat (they really do have prescription strength antiperspirants). Some medications, natural remedies, medical issues, etc... change the amount and smell of sweat. There are natural deodorants, powders, and antiperspirants they are expensive and hard to find, but some of them work. He has to want to deal with the issue. It's one of those issues that aren't your fault, but it's on you to fix it.

She’s mentioning the fact that he is a white European, because a lot of White people don’t bathe themselves to the standards that we do (assuming that she’s black.) I live in London right now, and the first time I lived in a house with White people I was appalled by the fact that there were no bathing implements in the entire bathroom. Like wash cloths, hell even a loofa? Nothing. Gross. Thankfully my roommate did not smell, but he did not use anything to assist with bathing himself.
Even before I moved, I once crashed with a friend, and their roommate (also White American) didnt know what wash cloths WERE. They were grown.
Not saying its all, but it’s enough 🤷🏾‍♀️

What kind of comment is this? If your roommates did not smell, does it matter whether they use a washcloth or not? White ppl I have known were appalled that ppl of colour do not wash their hair frequently and all the hair care product is caked in their hair with flaky scalp that was hid under artificial wigs in 100 degree heat. Different cultures different standards.

I'm a white German and you can find all of these things in my bathroom 😅 I guess it really depends how you grew up and my Grandma's were really clean and had proper body hygiene.
I use silicon sponges for my scalp and skin, a big luffa, a big bathing brush, big scrub bands for my back, special microfiber cloths and pads for my face, wash cloths for my pits and so on 😁

@@redleeks6253Soap alone won’t clean you, that’s exactly why you smell atrocious. Soap without using a wash cloth to scrub is like someone halfway brushing their teeth to binge on cake after. Then proceed to do a half ass job of brushing their teeth three days later. Smh.

@@redleeks6253 you still need a washcloth to scrub away the dead skin, oils, and dirt. Otherwise you are just applying a layer of soap residue to your skin, which can cause or worsen dryness, tightness, and itchiness. And of course your skin may look dull afterwards.

Regarding Onion Man: he needs a THOROUGH medical exam. Sometimes a lung infection/dysfunction shows up in sweat or armpit odor long before it shows up in breath.

In the 1920's and '30's men would be clean-shaven, even chests and armpits. Boxers did it and they were huge celebrities. it was a reaction to how much germ theory had taken hold in the gen pop. Joan Crawford, giant star, would be quoted about how she loved "the clean look."
So that first man wasn't MANLY enough, I say.

Lol I have had to convince two of my daughter’s male friends that they needed more frequent showers and that they needed to buy deodorant and invest in a nice cologne. Girls like cleanliness and why the hell aren’t their parents teaching them to bathe?!?!?!

I remember when the talk shows in the 90s would have on people (many were women) whose body chemistry was seemingly insurmountable. No matter how often they showered, how hygenic they were, and how many specialists they saw, they still had this issue. The big difference I noticed was the women largely were desperate to try anything to better their situation, while men were more likely to expect others to just deal with their condition. I also remember how hurtful the things both genders-- but the women's stories were worse as a whole-- said they experienced from members of the opposite sex as a result.
My heart goes out to anyone who has that issue, and I hope they found/find a solution. Of course, to do that, that person has to want to find a solution, and it doesn't sound like this man cares enough about how it impacts his partner (and others) to do so.

I have known various shades of funky smelling or excessively sweaty folks. Sometimes things can be genetic and you try everything & it remains... but MOST of the times, diet changes, hygiene products and other moderate changes really fix the issue. Even natural deoderants can really help some folks D:

The second she said he smelled 2 minutes after showering I immediately knew he didn't use deodorant. She may have hurt his feelings, but he repeatedly neglected hers, even failing to do even one second of research that wouldve showed him brands that don't have harmful/ questionable chemicals. Grow up dude.

I’ve only once gotten involved with a married man. But the night I met him, I also met his wife. The first thing she said to me was that I was his type, and then she let me know the marriage was for him to get citizenship, and that she had a boyfriend too, as they were waiting out the clock until everything was permanent. They already knew the date they’d be filing for divorce, as it had been part of the deal the entire time. Her boyfriend was there as well. They were completely open about the fact that while they were very good friends, the marriage was only on paper, and that if I was into him, the only awkwardness would be in the form of appointments with immigration. They were basically roommates and buddies, closer to siblings, but could not be less romantically interested in each other.
It seemed like a red flag at first, but it was actually true. The only difference after the divorce was that they lived down the street from each other. They still hung out all the time, they just didn’t have to pretend any more. It was nice to have a built in second couple for double dates.
If he were married married? Yeah, no screw that lol
