I have never heard of putting tuna in macaroni salad. When I catered I used pasta, mayo, mustard, salt, pepper and celery, onions, bell peppers, diced carrot, diced cheddar cheese and tomatoes. That is everything that I put in mine. I made chicken salad weekly. It was my biggest seller. I sold it as part of my menu but I also sold it by the lb. I made between 35 and 50 lbs per week of chicken salad. I only used chicken breasts, mayo, salt, pepper, celery, chopped pecans and dried cranberries.
What a beautiful gift... from your Mama... maybe it would be good for your heart and soul to go through that beautiful cookbook and choose some recipes that were perhaps favorites to you, and do a video and share your story about it with us. I would love something like that. Food with a history in your family is a wonderful "hand-me-down". Most definitely home-cooking and food are a universal love language. And I am very aware that you yourself are creating some awesome memories for your children and their children... and most likely the next unseen generation. A Sheet Cake is 18x26. A half sheet cake is 13x18. A 1/4 sheet cake is 9x13. What you are baking is a 1/2 sheet cake. The pan is 13x18. I was a caterer and wedding cake baker for many years.

I have the vintages canisters on your counter on my shelf, the same kitchen rugs in my rv even my baking sheets look the same. 🤣 when you took out the cookbook this morning I almost cried. Just yesterday I sat down and ordered a new 10th edition for myself. Mine is so tattered and in rough condition. Stains on my favorite recipes and all. I guess I should save it for my kids. Anywho…. I love seeing you look through your mothers cookbook fondly. I recently started making recipes from my great grandmother. Just yesterday I made her red gravy shrimp and sausage jambalaya from scratch. It tasted just like I remember and brought back so many wonderful memories of our time together.

You are right about the pan size ! Full sheet measures 26 x 18 , half sheet is 18 x 13 , quarter is 13 x 9 and jelly roll measures in between a half & a quarter at 15.5 x 10.5 !
I wondered if she accidentally said 8x13 instead of 18x13, confirmed when the pan appeared in the video 😊. I use half sheet pans in my baking business.

Everybody has their own special recipe for macaroni/potato salad. I always mix my mayonnaise with tablespoon mustard, a drop of apple cider vinegar and a pinch of sugar. Also, I put celery in mine for crunch and lots of onion, sometimes peas in a very small amount of grated carrot.
That's wonderful, more than wonderful that you've got your mothers cook book which includes your grandmother's recipes too. Sooo, jealous. Wish I had something like that because my grandmother was a great baker (m favourite was caraway seed loaf - cake) and my mum made the best macaroons. Sadly the recipes are gone. I love aprons, too! Mine take a beating, and I use them everyday. My grandma always wore aprons and while they are very practical, they are very nostalgic to me! Love your channel, BTW!
My grandmother was born in Croatia back in 1898 when it was part of Austria-Hungary. She grew up to be the chef of the main judge in her town. She would also make strudel from scratch. She would cover her kitchen table with a white linen cloth and put the dough in the center and start walking around the table stretching the dough with her fingertips. Around and around she would go until the dough was so thin you could read the paper through it. She would then spread melted butter on the dough, cut it and layer it and butter it again before putting the filling on. She made cherry, apple, or cottage cheese fillings. You just can't get store bought like that! And the torte's!! Four layer walnut torte. They contained no flour! Made with ground walnuts. In the large one there were 72 eggs!! 72!!! The eggs were just the whites that she would beat stiff and then fold in the walnuts and other ingredients by hand. The frosting was buttercream with pounds and pounds of butter. My aunt and I still make the torte for the holidays but not the big one. And oh how I miss her Christmas cookies!! I think your grandma and my grandma could have been twins!!
I wear an Apron plenty …I have restaurant supply ones ..I had an Icecream shop for years until 2018 ..so I kept my apron ..But I have to catch myself TO TAKE IT OFF..,if not I will wear it all day 😂

To me they are memories, just like the one you told of your grandmother. I have set down and handwritten a recipe books for every grandchild and both of my children. Aww! I feel the same as you! I got all my grandmothers recipes and the very same cookbook and same year! 😆 But love looking through the recipes and such. All the notes. You can tell which recipe card she used the most...splatters, smears, or she wrote "good recipe" 😁 memories. You should frame a few of your favorite recipes and hang them in your kitchen or pantry. Put the pages of your cookbook pages as well as the personal recipes in plastic n on-board page protectors. That way they will be usable and protected. You may want to speak with a professional regarding saving your Heirloom. I want the cabbage soup recipe please!

Your half sheet pan right there on that table is 18 x 13. Not 8 x 13. That is more the size of a quarter sheet pan. I am not arguing with you, it is a half sheet pan, having worked with those pans for more than half of my life. As always its a beautiful cake.
