I went there at night a few months ago & it seemed as though some buildings were in use at least at night anyway. There were quite a few cars around the property & people coming & going in & out of the buildings. The grounds were lit up fairly well for night time. We were surprised how active it was, we thought it was all empty & not being used. I did see a ghost though, well that's the only explanation I got for seeing this man smoking a cigarette standing right beside me next to old stairs leading to a little car park I think it was when he wasn't there a few seconds earlier & then when I turned to look properly he was gone. It is beautiful grounds & buildings despite the horrors that took place there.

Thanks for the comment! Yes I noticed some of the buildings were still in use, though they seemed to be mostly the newer buildings. They were doing restoration work on the older ones though, so hopefully they will be accessible again soon. That's a spooky story about the ghost! I do believe in ghosts. I felt occasionally as though I was being watched through the windows. Going at night must have been especially interesting :)

Kindred Genealogy we didn't do the tour u did though. We just looked around on our own & didn't get out of the car much. I'd love to do the tour u did though to have a really good look around & learn more about it.

Yes quite a few of the buildings are used as the office space for various disability services, there is even a SES branch there

Thanks for the video. Are all the windows also boarded up? Is it worth going there to take photos through the glass? I'm looking for interesting/different places to take photos in Sydney. There's a limit to the number of times I want to go to Darling harbour and the beaches.

Thanks, I'll give it a go and will let you know. I read somewhere that inside tours were no longer running because of an issue with Dept of Health's ownership of the intellectual rights. Anyway I understand the grounds are not locked.

I’m visiting tonight. Will have to find a way in. I love doing creepy adventuring. My profile pic is of me exploring the Suicide Forrest in Japan at night. I have quite a few unexplainable scary experiences despite the fact t I’m a hard skeptic.

@@VanessaBland So I visited and started the exploration in the evening while it was still light and into the night. I looked everywhere for a way into the buildings but it's really well barricaded. I got entrance into one tiny area with nothing in it where the door had a hole. That was it. Disappointing.

It's not really Spooky it has a peaceful vibe which is weird because of the 1200 unmarked graves there. Probably the safest place at the moment with the Corona virus running rampant. I live just 5min walk away and since the pandemic have been using the place for my daily walk. Much prefer the Ghosts than people coughing on me on the Bus

Fuck that was creepy to see again.
It one of those places. Nice place for a visit. You wouldn't want to stay there.
Spent a week in there many year's ago now. Scary stuff used to go on at night. Even in the Selfadmin ward's. I was a selfad that was it was a week. I don't think that I could visit it now. To many memories of treble incidents. Ghosts there's a few. Lol.
