    Just had my first fry! My recipe...2 males + 3 females + 35% weekly water changes + a variety of food including flake, and frozen brine shrimp and blood worms + Lots of Java moss along the bottom.
    Didn't even see eggs...just the fry!

    Thank you for your posts! Long ago I tried crossing the Odessas with some really nice veil finned Rosy barbs - they would mate and breed, but after 3 attempts nothing ever hatched. Today I'm glad I wasn't successful - you can't improve on these when they are at their best!

    I love this video so much that I have had to watch it like 3 times over the course of about a year and a half. Thanks for sharing! - Little Bobby

    I think what's amazing about your Odessas is that not only are the males GORGEOUS, but your females have a lovely, clear gold color. All the Odessas I see (males and females) are a smutty grey color. Just a dirty-looking fish. Your posts are SERIOUSLY making me think I need to get into Odessas! I'm usually a long-fin Rosy Barb kind of girl, but these are so nice!

    Awesome video!!!! Recently dedicated a 40gallon to 15 barbs. Picked em up from the LFS as adolescents, but can you tell me how long till I should start seeing color on the males? I'm assuming several months

    Very informative. I recently obtained some very nice Limias and am more than thrilled with these fish. One had fry during shipping. I always enjoy your updates and species spotlights. Thanks!

    Great video sir. I really enjoy the Odessa Barbs that I got from you and they're all doing great. Spawning almost daily as we recently talked about. I had a little trouble with them several months back but you walked me through how to correct th he situation and within a day they were colored up and showing off all around the tank. Very informative video as always and wow the footage is stunning. I've tried to take pictures to show how beautiful this fish is but nothing does them any justice. Thanks for sharing and as always do what you do if it works for you.

    Nice video. I bought some Odessas back in 2007 - all bright red, so guessing no females. Had them for 3 or 4 years. Lovely fish. I can't wait for the swordtail video! Not the same as the ones I'm getting from you,, but I'm sure it still applies. And I now I see how you use your HOT filters.

    How do you setup your magma canister filters?

  • @selectaquaticsoferie
    @selectaquaticsoferie  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 250 Magnum filters are setup using just the white micron cartridges. Nothing else -

    • @Satman82
      @Satman82 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought they discontinued the filters. How do you get the cartridges for them? You said you replace them everyday you must have a lot of those cartridges.

    • @selectaquaticsoferie
      @selectaquaticsoferie  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have been discontinued, and cartridges are no longer available. I bought a number of them up, and am working on a replacement for the cartridges that I am making here to carry me into the future. (Using the scotch scrubby pads!) Definitely a when there's a will there's a way situation!

      Glad to hear that. I am using a VERY old website software program that creates a great "old-fashioned" look, that I liked for its ability to have a visit to my website be not unlike a friendly visit to your local, cozy, fish store. But that look comes with a price, one being that mobile and tablet formats sometimes do not come out appropriately, and for those that encounter that, I apologize!

    Well fantastic video but I'm gutted. I have 10 brightly coloured odessas like this which I have had for over a year only to realise they must all be males. :(
