Adidas Adizero Boston 12 - A Serious Marathon Trainer & Worth the wait!

  • It's widely known that the adidas Boston 11 was not many people's favorite shoe in 2022. To me, it seems that adidas listened to their critics. They've made the Boston 12 softer, faster and more fun to run in than ever before.

    Thanks, Chris this was hands down my favorite review I’ve watched for this shoe.

    I just got the same color Boston 12 last week (only a few runs but agree with everything you said) . I have adios pro 3 ; you said in video you were considering it . I recommend pro 3 it for long distances. If you’re running 10 k the Boston 12 is just as good or better from my early experiences. Pro 3 the benefits are in those longer runs. The adios pro 3 cushion is less firm than the Boston feels and is just amazing at distance. it’s carbon rods are stiffer than Boston fiberglass rods but both work so well for me. The pro 3 upper takes sometimes careful adjustment and right socks so just make sure you test well before races.

    I’m thinking in the Prime X Strung v1 for running Chicago. In the long runs has been just fantastic. You should try it!

      I'm thinking about it! But I hear that a Prime X Strung V2 is on the horizon, so I'm kind of holding out for that one. We'll see!

      @@chris_jonzey Based on couple of folks got the v2 during the few hours it got put up on US site accidentally, you're probably much better off a safer bet to secure a V1 now if you ever wanted that experience of runing in it, before it became harder to get hold of. V2 would probably felt different since they did make some change towards a different direction. Whether for good or bad is unknown now since its mostly hearsay. Most know that V2 is gonna be even heavier, which is a serious bum. I have the V1 and that much height of a stack is already very very clunky. Don't get me wrong the shoe is absolutely a treat and fun to cruise in for easy days. But the lack of stability will be a mental stress the longer the miles go or if you tired out sooner in a workout session. You'd really have to constantly be on the watch out of your running form, or if you're speeding up with it for those corner turns, uneven grounnds and etc. At that point it became a mental hurdle. At least I get tensed/stressed and performance would suffer slightly since I'm not totally loose runing in it. So V2 being heavier probably would help with that stability issue, but it will just make the shoe even more clunky to pick up the pace compare to somethinng more nimble and snappy, like my favourite ES3s, or probably this b12. I've been watchinng tons of b12 reviews since I really liked my PXS v1 and wanted another super shoe of similar calibre with more stability but the same fun ride to be add into my rotationn, so I don't chew through my ES3 so fast.

      I have over 200 miles in the Prime X v1. I haven’t had any stability issues and wow wow, they’re wild (in a good way). Use case is long runs and flat or uphill terrain.

    I've tried adios pro 3 for my 2nd half marathon last week. The shoes really felt great. Even I really enjoyed my first 15k until i realize, oh no,... 6k to go! and start to stepping up my pace lol. Lighstrike pro is my fave foam for now, and I'm planning to try Boston 12 for my next daily shoes.

    • @chris_jonzey
      @chris_jonzey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a fun shoe for sure. Having the Lightstrike 2.0 adds that firmness, but it’s a solid daily trainer.

      you think AP3 is for faster tempo runs, AB12 for daily?

      I just got Boston 12 and it is a bit firm for daily use and encourages me to go too fast for daily miles ; prefer a non plated (or rod) shoe with softer cushioning for daily trainer; but to each their own.

      I'm leaning towards the Adios Pro 3 for sure. I was running with a friend last weekend who had the Pro 2 and swore by them!@@pbnotj1

    How would you compare the bostons with the Puma deviate nitro 2? If they are comparable, Which one would be your pick and why?

    • @chris_jonzey
      @chris_jonzey  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Boston 12 has more of a race day feel, especially with that upper. The lightstrike foam combination is similar in feel to the puma nitro elite foam as well. I would say the Deviate Nitro 2 is a more comfortable ride and more versatile for a runner like me. It would be the winner between the two 👍🏻 but for speedier days, the Boston 12 is a solid choice,

    • @atlasthegracious
      @atlasthegracious ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chris_jonzey Thank you! That helps a lot. I believe I need to try the Deviate Nitro 2. I am looking for something that can work for up tempo runs without being extreme in any ways. Versatility is a plus and the upper on the Bostons is a slight concern. Thanks again!

      I have issues with the Pro 3 as the first 2 eyelets dig into my toes. No issues with the pro 2. Does this have any weird upper design rub area as well vs say Boston 10/11? Which again were fine for my wide forefoot.

    Boston 12 or takumi 9?

    • @chris_jonzey

      Depends on the workout, Takumi Sen 9 for 5ks and track workouts, threshold runs. Boston 12 for 10k, MP workouts and a half marathon perhaps?

      @@chris_jonzey Great question… I have about 2 weeks so I need to get something in the next couple days. Otherwise, I guess my Saucony Ride 16’s. Would like something with a little more softness and a similar stack height, but not as soft as the endorphin speed.
