Love my SL2s. Ran Berlin Marathon in them and they worked great! So light and snappy, comfortable for slow runs and they can pick up the pace easilly, and so much better than my previous Saucony Endorphin Speed 3s in the wet. Those were absolutely useless in races because any benefit you get from the nylon plates is wiped out because you need to slow way down on wet pavement (so at every single water station) as otherwise you'd slip and fall
Hi Ben, I just hit my first sub 1:50 half marathon this morning by following the advice from your videos. Thanks so much for giving us your valuable wisdom!!
I did most of my longer marathon training runs in the Speed 4s and my speed work in the SL2. Race day and some longer runs in Adidas Pro 3. Thanks to the the help of your training plan I knocked 5min 30s off my marathon PB at Abingdon last week.
Done my first ever marathon today (not in a race, just training) in the Novablast 4. It’s a great, comfy shoe, carried me very well. I’d say if you have a bit of a wide foot go for your regular size like I do, not the half size down Ben suggested
I went from a Brooks Adrenaline to the NovaBlast and it’s been a joy! So much more energy return and very lightweight in comparison. I’ve used it for faster 5ks up to half marathon and it worked great for me.
Excellent as always Ben! Also, I would highly recommend your running merch to anyone watching. Your hats are the first option I always pick everytime I run, and your running tops feel great on the run and have an excellent fit! 👍
Puma really is great value. The Velocity Nitro 3 are so comfy and have been a great training shoe. Currently on sale direct from Puma and can’t often find them discounted on runnerinn.
I love my superblasts, it's always my go to shoe. I absolutely hated the adidas boston 12. I felt like my heel was below my forefoot and it made it so that I felt resistance when I would run. Created some achilles issues....I was super disappointed after watching so many people talk highly of it. I think it mostly has to do with my foot strike. I'm a heel/midfoot striker. However I bought the edge paris and those feel absolutely amazing. So much bounce and energy return. Felt like the boston 12 has zero bounce and energy return.
I run everything but 5k races in my Adidas SL2s. For really fast runs I use my Adidas Adios, which I find helps me run around 20-30 seconds faster on a 5k.
Got 700 miles on my first pair of Superblast 1s, finally need replacing, Superblast 2, on order for 3 months, now bought Hoka MachX2. What is ASICS problem, version 1 was so popular so can’t be a surprise with the demand for version 2 😡
I run about 20-30 miles a week. I use the Nike vomero 17s and saucony ride 17s and they’ve both been good to me. I’m looking to pick up a pair of nova blast 4’s around January
Love the videos Ben, after your reccomendations I bought some Nova Blast 4's and I love them and use them for every kind of run. However I'm a bit boring and got them in black!
I wish that the adidas sl2 wasn’t so narrow . I don’t understand why their Boston 12 fits me super well with slightly wider foot but sl2 just way too tight.
I used to only have the kiprun kd900 (which has just been updated), phenomenal shoe at many paces and distances, great price and I dont know any other company that makes a more durable shoe!
Thanks for a very useful video. Question re the Superblast - does it make sense to rotate between it and the Novablast (which I already have) or is the structure too similar for rotation?
Adidas SL2 really amazing for its price to pop n weight. imo its a more stable Rebel2/3 in term of squish for mid n forefoot strike. I used to recommend rebel2/3 n novablast3 to friends getting into running as theyre good n at discounted price now, not heavy so they dont feel sluggish trying to run, n lightweight 'feel fast'. After getting SL2, this is my recommendation, as adidas always let old colorway get discounted as new colour drops 👌. i got mine in aug, n now already 420km.
I currently wear saucony guide 17 and puma forever run and I currently have bought asics gel kayano 31 as I overpronate for my next marathon in Edinburgh as I wore the version 30 in Manchester for my first marathon this year I do have the new balance rebel 4 but have only worn them once as i think they might irritate my shins
Do you have a preference between the Guide 17, Foreverrun Nitro and Kayano 30? I’ve got the Saucony tempus which I love but I really want a more cushioned daily that I can wear all day but also enjoy an easy run/long run in. You know a do it all like the video suggests
How's the fit on forever run ? I like the ride of that shoe but ankle collar rubs me every time I run more than 1h in it - rub to blood and not socks will eliminate that, It's suck cus I really like that shoe
I was suggested the brooks adrenaline at a sports store. Needless to say I wish I would have gone to a running store because this shoe not my favorite. At first I liked them. 2 months later. My feet cramp up with long time wear. And I blister a lot. But I feel stable running in them
Any idea when the next batch of superblast colourways drop? Not a fan of the white pair currently available because id destroy them within a couple of runs 😂
Not saying Ben is wrong here, but we have very different experienge with the SL2. I have freakishly wide feet and these fit me fine, they are narrow in the heel but wide otherwise. I ordered them because they are measured on the end of the spectrum in case of width. Maybe it’s a foot shape thing, or maybe he meant the heel and midfoot. They were also true to size for me in US 13.
How do the Boston 12's work for you in terms of width? I've got a high volume foot Moreso than wide. The Boston 12's in my normal size 13 no issues. Adios too narrow gave me blisters in the toe box and heel
@@michaelbost4050 I tried on the Boston 12 and they felt fine, a bit too long actually in my regular size, but width was great. I ended up spending twice the money on the Pro 3 instead, though…
Need to run-in the foam but the durability is impressive. Ppl who dont really like a squishy feel will like it. At faster paces it makes more sense. IMO, need a mix rotation of cushion and firm to give variance in stimulus for your joints/muscles, but ultimately up to personal preference.
Beware ordering from Sports Direct/Frasers. They seem to be offering too good to be true deals at the moment, and not fulfilling orders. I ordered a pair of boston 12s for £70, the order was pending for a week before being cancelled. Something questionable going on over there - there's a whole thread on reddit with others experiencing the same
@@jn5152 they are a scam company. i ordered the boston 12 and they still never shipped my shoes after nearly 2 months, now when i try to cancel they don't reply to my emails and just kept my money
I'll save everyone the 20 mins (but still watch the video because Ben's great), get the Hoka Mach 6, specifically in wide and half a size up. I was very much a Hoka sceptic but after having some issues with the Novablast 4 (very specific to me), I tried the Mach 6 and I was impressed. As fast as the Puma DN2 and more comfy for the long and slow runs. 5mm drop and a good, slightly more aggressive rocker, seems to work really well for my running style.
Have you ever pinged a shoe into the Thames doing that bending pop thing yet? The colour way makes the Nova blasts look so fast lol; too much drop for me. Got some Tri Noosa arriving soon with 5mm hopefully my feet will tolerate that!
After accidentally discovering some of the top China's makers (I might have a fitting foot-type though) I don't wanna go back to the "big brands". There was always smth of a concern to me in fitting, longevity, quality, design and so on. And given the price difference it was actually an issue for me to find a daily rider! :) For the price I was used to pay I was getting a good racers that felt too racy for being a daily trainer. Had to lower the target price which was surprisingly hard as I had this fear I'd get smth else but a proper running shoe. :)
Sadly I find most of those brands too narrow if have wide feet and need 2e width. I go Brooks, some NB and the odd Saucony okay even in standard width. How did these manufacturers decide a shoe anywhere near or over £200 was reasonable!! My max about £140 but usually aim for less than that. Crazy times!!
Love my SL2s. Ran Berlin Marathon in them and they worked great! So light and snappy, comfortable for slow runs and they can pick up the pace easilly, and so much better than my previous Saucony Endorphin Speed 3s in the wet. I bought speed 4 a few weeks ago, couldn’t believe how slippery they are….so disappointed

Thank you very much for these tests, Ben! Cheers from Norway.
Saucony Endorphin is my favorite allrounder in that list.
Puma Velocity Nitro 2 for £55 is a bargain, so much so I stocked up with a second pair. Perfect trainer for the daily, non-specific runs.

@tkwasik ya it's not comfortable either. I'd rather run barefoot
Asics Noosa Tri is slept on.
Love the colorways on that shoe
One Superblast 2 to rule them all
$200 and they're neither cooking dinner nor cleaning up afterwards? 😂😂😂 no thanks
The sl2 and the Boston 12 are two of my favorite daily teainers

New balance could dispute the super trainer categorie with superblast if they price it correctly! Cant find the sc trainer for less than 240eur

What do you think about the Hoka mach 6
I not tried Mach x2 ?? Think you’ll love it
My favourite trainers are on your list Adidas SL2 and the Boston 12. They are both awesome trainers.
Do you expect the same 800 mile mileage out of the Novablast, as you said for the Superblast?
SL 2 is the lowkey shoe of the year in a year dominated by huge stacks and plated shoes
I was suggested the brooks adrenaline at a sports store. Needless to say I wish I would have gone to a running store because this shoe not my favorite. At first I liked them. 2 months later. My feet cramp up with long time wear. And I blister a lot. But I feel stable running in them
Puma Velocity Nitro 3 in wide is on Start Fitness btw. Have been eyeing a pair as someone with hobbit feet.
Would you say the Mach 6 and Peg plus are too similar to have both?
I think adidas Evo SL will beat all of these.

How anyone likes the Boston 12 is beyond me. Such a firm and boring feeling shoe.

No NB Rebel v4??!
How about Mach 6 ?
