    "Slowing down the back swing" significantly improved my shooting accuracy today. Thank you so much for your wonderful advice. I played for 30 years and never noticed this mistake until you pointed this out.

    Standing up is the best tip I ever got and I can give. It's so important to make up your shot in your mind before going down. It's as you said: You have to feel comfortable with what your doing.

      My buddy bought a new house that came with a pool table. We been playing non stop. This is the best piece of advice that I didn’t know I needed. I usually think my shot out pretty well. “It’ll set me up for this, I have to do this to get it in, etc.”
      My problem is my angles are slightly off cause I second guess them and over exaggerate them a little. I need tips on that. I also need tips for putting spin on the cue ball.

      I play very fast (Tony Drago fast lol) and whenever I pocket a ball, I get faster, and faster, and faster, along with that, my heart rate jumps to 150 bpm, and endorphine levels are as if I use cocaine lol and usually I miss at some point. But if I don't it's a damn amazing game to watch, so I take risks xD

    My number 1 tip for beginners is to play every shot as soft as possible, that way even if you miss (Which you will. A lot.) you'll guard the pocket and have an easy shot next turn. Once you start sinking shots consistently and confidently this doesn't apply.

    Nice post. The number one mistake i see most players make is hitting the cue ball too hard. Play snooker until you start to pocket the balls, especially those along a rail and you will improve and at the same time break a bad habit. Same goes for the break on any game, 14.1, eight or nine ball. Watch a good player and they will never turn the cue ball loose and hope they either make a ball or miss and leave their opponent a poor shot. LEAN TO PLAY SAFETY! There are nights when the balls are no separating because of humidity. Other night it seems you get few good rolls. It happens to all players. A safety game wears down your opponent and enable to to deal with bad rolls when they occur. Most players never learn safety and if they are getting all the rolls in a match and the score is tied they often break down. In their mind they just cannot win. My best matches are those where i could no drop a ball on the break and the table was playing slow. i had to grind it out but the safety game made a huge difference in the outcome.

      What also helps a lot is shadow stroking while you stand. I saw it somewhere on the internet from some professional player explaining but it didn't catch my attention until I did it. But I didn't do it on purpose. After I thought to myself "that was nice stroke" it rang to me what I did. Just keep your hand tight and rub the cue over the bridge in the air while you thinking about the next shot. Also when you aim long shots grip your cue little further in the back extending your cue. And when you play over the balls and closer shots grip the cue closer to the other hand. Changing position where you hold the cue and bridge is really great for everything especially draw.

    The real reason is because you should never use an open bridge for a top spin shot. There is very little cue ball control. You should not be lifting the cue in the air immediately after the shot with your left hand either. The cue should stay in or on your bridge hand during the whole shot.

    • @wombra8314
      @wombra8314 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert Longo have you seen judd trump snooker player draw a cue ball across and back a 12' snooker table out of the corner pocket? he also can take the cue ball around the table twice with the massive force follow.,.,,, open hand bridge. definitely not disagreeing with you. i personally used closed loop for both, for the same reasons you said,,.,,, but snooker player's perfectly parallel cueing and precision seem as good or better, if you are at that level. table size matters too i guess. i hit straighter with open bridge, but like 1/2 the time at least, there isn't room on the table to cue that way comfortably. just two more cents cheers 👋🏻🎱👄🎱🤚🏻

    Sharivari My game was stuck in a rut I was not improving I had to do something, I went back to center ball top and low no side spin just speed and I copied Steve Davis' stance head right on top of cue and open bridge it felt foreign at first but I kept with it, and my game improved now it feels like the only way to play my potting went up a few levels in about a week of solid hard work 6 to 8 hours a session, I worked on straight cue action nothing else for days shooting straight thru the white and center hits making the cue ball come back to the stick Sir your videos have motivated me to improve thanks Sharivari.........

    Well, You look like your about to break the stick with your grip loosen up, don't use an open bridge and stay down why you shoot. You stand up like a rocket. And follow through just a bit more. But mainly you pull up really really fast.
    Now you probably think im no body but trust me when I say what I just said is very genuine and will definitely help your game

      Well where is your video Mr. Expert? This guy would kick the crap out of you in a game.

      @@rawhideleather I wish him good luck to that, You have no idea who I am or where I'm from or who I've been taught by. I never said I'm perfect. If anything it was just some criticism to help? Why did you decide to lash out like that?

      @@LiteralH2O No I don't know you and don't need to because you obviously don't know as much about pool as you think you do. Anyone who would say "don't use an open bridge" can't know much because most of the top billiard players as well as pretty much ALL of the snooker players use open bridges. Uninformed armchair quarterbacks should be corrected so that others don't heed their poor advice.

      @@rawhideleather Last time I checked he's not playing with a slimmer snooker cue is he? No he's not, he's using a thicker billiard cue. And there are many reasons you tend to not want to use an open bridge (Not saying you can't or its bad to do an open bridge) and one of those has to relate to the ability to draw a ball. You're making a fool of yourself. Snooker players use an open bridge to see what they're doing to the cue ball. Small diameter shaft plus smaller ball = harder to see what you're doing. The fact you dont know that distinguishes you as someone that seriously has no idea what they're talking about when it comes to pool.

      @@LiteralH2O LOL! Your reply is a pathetic attempt to save face . I'm not the nobody who tried to give dumb advice to an excellent player and coach on his own channel. You did that. Did you actually read my reply? I also stated "most of the top billiard players"... yes, BILLIARD as in POOL you moron, not snooker! A closed bridge is fine if that is someone's personal preference and that is what I actually prefer to use most of the time. Why don't you let Shane Van Boening and countless other top pro BILLIARDS players know that they shouldn't use an open bridge. BTW - You can reply but I'm not wasting any more of my time with you as you obviously are alway right in your own deluded mind. Good luck with that.
