- Josef Ferstl of Germany crashed dramatically Friday during the men's World Cup downhill on February 4, 2021, at Garmisch Partenkirchen Germany, but did ski away after being removed from the safety fences.

As he hit the ground and started sliding he actually did a good job at keeping his skis in such a way that they didn’t catch an edge.
He did a great job with his skis.. love .⛷
He was doing so well when he didn't touch the markers, but hitting that one knocked him sideways.
A fair analysis.
@@CBCSports I don't' think it was hitting the gate that caused the crash. It was because he was off line, he was skis were chattering and it got him off balance a bit. He also was shift weight from outside ski to inside ski and back again. If you play it in slow mo...first off he's way late on the turn above, which makes him late for the gate just before the jump. If you play the sequence jump before the gate and thru the gate. You can see how late he is and his skis weight/pressure/carve-ability going back and forth. He still doing this right after he passes the gate. Finally the inside side catches an edge and boing... His shoulder does hit the gate, but we see eidence that that phased him. If it did you would see his shoulder arm, hand...get pulled off balance first and then works it way down to his skis.

To much inside edge angle. I’d try a little more canting high inside to reduce chances of the high side. Really glad he’s okay.
А кто сказал, что то, что делали Стенмарк и Жиров в слаломе подходит для супер жи и спуска? Говорила мама , чтобы не приземляся на оба внутренних канта, не проходи повороты на внутренней лыже... Может доктора поправят. Спортсмену скорейшего и полного восстановления!
