✌️😊🇵🇭 We also have a culture or subculture of "siyesta" or "syesta" in the Philippines, and in Zamboanga City we write and spell it formally as "siesta" just like in Spanish.
It is one of the influences we got from Spain, the Spanish Empire, and some to most of the ancestors of the present day Spanish people or Spaniards, and also Latin Americans.
In Zamboanga City, "siesta" is the afternoon activity, rest time, nap time, or power nap time, around past 12 noon up to just around 3 PM or 4 PM to take a rest, a nap, or a power nap.
It is a thing especially for the children or kids, toddlers, and infants or babies to have and do their "siestas" everyday, believing it will aid or help in their growth and development, as well as for their strength, height, weight, wellness, and well-being.
I remembered, we were even scared by our late grandma and even by our other elders, parents, guardians, and older cousins or siblings that if we won't have and do our "siestas" then we will not grow and develop, grow tall, gain more strength, get bigger and heavier, be healthy, and be well, or that a man with or carrying a sack or some sacks will be going to kidnap us, put us in his sack or sacks, then carry us far away, and never return us back to our parent, guardians, and/or family/ies.
"Siesta" is also a thing here in Zamboanga City for our parents, guardians, other older people or adults, and our grandparents. It is a time for them to have a break, to relax, to unwind, to take a nap, to take a power nap, to relax their eyes, minds, and bodies, and to have some peaceful and quite time after their morning chores, activities, works, jobs, etc., especially when the children or kids, toddlers, and babies or infants are also having their "siesta".
The "siesta" is also believed to be good for their wellness, health, and well-being, among many others, just like the believed benefits of it for children or kids, toddlers, and babies or infants.
It is also only and mostly a thing with native and ethnic Zamboangueños or Zamboangueño people (who are mostly are Hispanic, Hispanized, or Hispanicized, Roman Catholic Christians, and native and first language speakers of Chavacano language, most specifically the Chavacano de Zamboanga or Zamboangueño Chavacano dialect, language variety, or language variant, which is a and the only Spanish-based creole language in the Philippines and in Asia, and one of the oldest creole languages in the world) here in Zamboanga City than with other Filipinos and non-Filipinos.
This "siesta" culture or subculture in Zamboanga City and the "siyesta" or "syesta" culture or subculture in the Philippines, as a whole and in general, is still a thing even up until now, but I guess and think that less and less people are doing it, believing or are sure of its other questionable benefits, and most especially about the story that is used to scare us to have and do our "siesta" nowadays, and it is also not a thing or less of a thing with teenagers or adolescents, young adults, and the like.
My parents, especially my dad, still does and observed his "siestas" almost every day, and so as some of uncles and aunts/aunties, and some of my neighbors in our community too. Most of the time, it's just almost very or so quite in our neighborhood within our community, except for some land vehicles or transportations, some helicopters that pass by, some birds, the winds and breezes, or some few people outside of their houses, especially near noon up to the afternoon, and most especially during the afternoons. I don't know accurately and exactly why, but I guess and think that maybe most of us have and do our "siestas", prefer to stay indoors at these times if the day because of the heat and weather, or because of other reasons or causes.

The original recipe for "Paella" is the Valencian one, which was invented by the Valencians. It was a typical dish invented by the breeders when they were going to feed their goats to the mountains cause it took long hours to feed them, they used to take vegetables that they had at home and rice and, while taking care of their animals, they hunted something to add to that dish, normally wild rabbits, and they prepared that dish to eat while their animals where feeding in the grazing. That´s why "Paella" has green beans, rabbit, artichokes and all that...There is no other...the other options are rice recipes, so, I´m with them!!, they´re right!!!. I´m Galician and if someone cooks "Polvo a Feira" (Pulpo a la Gallega, "Octopus to the party" as they say in the turistic places hahahaha) in a different way we do, that wouldn´t be "Polvo a Feira", just another octopus recipe but not ours 😉.

The only lands not conquered were Galicia and Asturias, the two brothers who were the same (territorially and historically they still are). Spain was born from them. The Basque Country was the northern territory that fell first and was hardest conquered (in the north).
