    ⚠️ If you do the xt30 mod, you may want to use a capacitor on the battery lead to prevent voltage spikes, as some users report fried flight controllers! Ask away if you have questions.

      Where I should solder the capacitor, just on the Xt30 connector? Very good video Btw!!!

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ezoriel666 Thanks a lot for watching, appreciate that! If you have the included lead, and a separate capacitor, then that's probably the easiest way. If you can manage it, I've read that it's actually better to solder it to the board end of the lead, which would also keep it out of the way of the battery. If you're shopping on Bangood, they have an xt30 lead with a capacitor already soldered on for about $2, but of course the problem is shipping from China...

    Thank you very much !!Amazing quality video, good sound, great explanations and the budget upgrade perspectives are perfect to me!
    Maybe it worth to mention that some of trashcan users had fried the FC while installing or using the XT30 connector.
    To avoid that, users recommend to install a 100uf capacitor with the XT30 connector 👍
    Again thank you so much for your high quality content 💪😁

      Hey Anthony, coming back to this after doing some research, you are absolutely right about the capacitor. I wonder why they aren't shipping the trashcan with the pigtain that already has the capacitor installed? I verified that I do have the V1 board, which I mention because I know this issues has been addressed in later releases. I haven't had any problems with mine, but then again I am usually flying with a throttle limit (2s at 100% is too much for me)! Thanks again for mentioning this, I'll pin it to the top so others are aware of the issue.

      Thanks a lot for for support brother, I really appreciate it! Fpv trail crawling sounds awesome, I'm going to have to rig a camera to my scx10. I sold my farm, which is where I used to have an RC track and run my RC's and every since then I haven't had enough time for the hobby with work and the kids but lately I've been getting back into it. In fact, now that I'm on self-quarantine I feel like I NEED some RC hobby time! What sort of projects are you into now, anything you can do around the house during this lockdown?

    Is this compatible with 2.4 receiver ?

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These ship with built in receivers, I bought mine with Frsky. but many other options are available. The flight controller does have the pads to add an external receiver so I assume you can add just about any rx you want, as long as you are comfortable soldering onto those tiny pads. Best to use the built in receiver!

    hi the vtx antenna on my trashcan broke. can you please help me with the exact link of the antenna to buy from bangood.

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can grab a pack of simple antennas from Banggood for just a few bucks, but if you are going to go to the effort, you might want to put on something better to increase range, something like this:
      URUAV Micro UFL: bit.ly/MicroUFL
      iFlight Mini UFL: amzn.to/342y1WZ

    • @TheFotoGuys
      @TheFotoGuys 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have read from many places and seen on TH-cam that one of the best indoor whoops should be the Emax Tinyhawk (also great choice for beginners) :D

      Thanks a lot bud, really appreciate it. Hey, my trashcan came with a XT30 connector with a capacitor. But it’s at the plug side and not at the board side. I’ve heard that that wil not help that much and wanted to know if that is true.

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yours came with the capacitor? That's definitely a good thing I bought mine in November 2019 and it didn't come with one. When did you buy yours?
      Yes, it will definitely help prevent voltage spikes from damaging the board, and it's supposed to be on the battery side, so not to worry. I took mine a part to solder on the connector to avoid damaging the plastics with my hot soldering iron and used a third hand tool to hold the board. It's a bit tricky since the pads are so small on these little micros, but definitely worth it if it's done with care not to bridge those connections. How are you at soldering?

    • @furkan10ky
      @furkan10ky 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The RC Cave I’m not the best at soldering, but I can make it work. Sometimes I use my hot glue gun to be sure it wont break. My trashcan is very new though. Bought it in March this year. I love the little thing although I wish I could be a better pilot or the trashcan would be stronger. I have broken the frame at 2 places and have lost the LED. Also broke the antenna off while I was taking a look at the vtx. I put a little hot glue to have it fixed in place.

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@furkan10kyI also lost my LED light bar on one of my first flights! They should really glue that thing down in the factory. If you're not very comfortable soldering you may want to just run 2 1s batteries on the stock ph2 connector. SOldering onto these tiny boards can be really tricky, and the pads are so small that any extra solder could bridge the connections and fry the board. I was holding my breath the whole time! Also, the good part about running 1s batteries is that they are super cheap and you can charge them with a 4 in 1 usb charger. I really like this one, you just plug it into your phone charger (as long as it does 2 amps but most modern phone chargers will) and you're good amzn.to/3dK1RUI Good luck with it!

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's really good to know, mine still flies perfectly fine on 2s but the peace of mind is totally worth it, since if you fry the board, a repair is half the price of another quad...

    • @sam5992
      @sam5992 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@colibrifpv Yeah, I would definitely advise to put a capacitor on with 2S. Pretty sure it was the esc or something that burned out, but I can still power it on via usb and connect to betaflight. Plugging in battery does nothing.

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sam5992 You are definitely right about the capacitor. BUying a new pigtain with only already soldered on is the way to go, I hate soldering to those tiny boards more than I have too! Sucks that board burned out, you can replace it of course, but the cost is tough to justify, unless you want to just salvage everything that works and build something new...
