    I love, when you show stuff, that can be easily resized to all sizes of dolls!

      It's fun to share completed patterns, but I think this is a lot more helpful overall. :)

    Great video. You've inspired me to make a skirt for my Melissa & Doug doll. I put the waist band on before sewing the back seam so I could work on a flat piece. Turned out great.

    What's hilarious, is that I just made a circle skirt for a dolly I made earlier today. This is exactly what I did too!

    Where did you get that third measurement, to divide by 6.28? I'm lost about this one.

      It's from finding the radius of a circle--two times pi :)

      I learned it from a friend's grandmother, who picked up the trick in the 50s when circle skirts were all the rage. :) It definitely helped!

      Lomi's Playground and I always wondered how these skirts got popular after sewing the first. They are so hard to hem

    What does she mean with that third measurement? When she divides the waist by 6.28?

    • @kimmyhalley4115
      @kimmyhalley4115 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      She divided it by Pi twice so she could get the circle’s radius

    When measuring is it best to in centimeters or inches? Your reason for your choice.

    • @LomisPlayground
      @LomisPlayground  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually pick based on which measuring tape I have handy. Centimeters are usually easier because the dolls are small and so are the numbers, but sometimes I can't find my CM tape and I use the one with inches instead. I prefer CM for most because it feels much more precise, but for length of skirts, pants, capes, etc. inches is fine. So I sometimes mix if that's easiest. Don't really have a better reason than that ^^;

    Can someone pls tell me y the waist was divided to 6.28? Where did the 6.28 came from?

    • @LomisPlayground
      @LomisPlayground  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's to find the radius of a circle. The radius is determined by dividing by pi (3.14) but if the fabric is folded in half, we are only marking half the circle, so 6.28.

      It's the math they teach you for measuring circles. 2 x pi

    I'm so lost on measurements. My doll has a 9 cm waist making it a 1.44 cm radius? Where is 1.44 cm on the measuring tape? All this math is making my head hurt. I think I'm gonna give up, put the sewing machine I'm trying to learn away and go back to what I know. Crocheting.

      I feel you. It was not also clear to me. But do not give up just keep on searching other skirt tutorial till you will get it right

    • @searece
      @searece 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know you commented that a year ago, but 1.44 cm will be 1 cm and 4.4 millimeters. I would probably do 1.5 cm for ease of measuring.
