I've been sewing for over 50 years but am now just starting to make dolls. I have learned so much from you in just the first two videos I have watched of yours. Your videos are well-paced and informative and I love to see your kitty wandering through from time to time. Thank you so very much. I will keep following you while on this new journey.
Your cat is closer to my cats colour than I thought. Kusskuss is charcoal and I thought Peaches was a warmer shade but she isnt that much different. Looking at her just now just made me think again that whoever said cats were indifferent and aloof didnt have a Bengal ( as you know they HAVE to know whats gping on ALL the time and preferably, be in the middle of everything!) lol...even in the middle of the night she is either "cuddling" me with her great big claws dug in, or sticking her paw in my mouth because she's bored! This is such a brilliant petticoat pattern. I should be able to adjust it for my dollhouse dolls!
Ohhhhh, I do love Bengals! And yeah, Peaches is mostly regular tabby colored but she has a few orange tabby spots on her... on one of her legs, a little on her face, and a couple other spots. And omg sticking her paw in your mouth LOL. Peaches usually just paws at my arm and purrs to let her under the blanket when it's cold haha. Also, ty so much for watching and I'm sure you'll be able to adjust it for other dolls! If you ever post anything on ig lmk I'd love to see! :)
hi there! i just wanted to say that i followed your tutorial and i'm so happy with how it turned out! I had to guess around with the measurements since i have a 1/3 BJD, but it was a painless and super fun experience, despite me being super new to sewing! thank you for the tutorial :'')
Yay!!! That makes me so happy to hear, thank you so much for telling me that!!! You can be pretty loose on the measurements and just scale up/down depending on the amount of fullness you want, or the size of your dolly! I'd love to see pics if you have them, you can just tag me on instagram (@dollychancouture). Thank you again so much for watching
Fabulous tutorial Maile. I have a bundle of tulle just sitting waiting for me to take the plunge. Now I am less worried and totally inspired. Thank you for taking the time to share.
Thank you so so much Janice!!! I'm so glad that it inspired you and I'm so excited to see what you come up with! I'd love to see what you come up with so def show me or tag me on Instagram when you're finished!!! And let me know if you need any help haha
Just came across your channel and sewing for tiny dolls videos....THANK YOU so much for the great tips and tricks!! This petticoat is so cute....will have to try!
I'm a beginning sewer and this was easy. I've always wanted to make my own doll clothes because I admired the mommy made barbie clothes of the 60's. Please make more videos!
Yay!! That makes me so glad to hear that it helped you!!! I’m working on a very basic dress pattern and tutorial right now so hopefully I’ll have that up soon!
Hello and thanks for the videos! Is there a special technique for sewing closures on the dolls' clothing?? I've read to use snaps, velcro, stretchy material, etc. Your dolls' clothing though looks like it should fit the doll w/o that step! Please tell me what I'm doing wrong!
I love you! I just found your channel some minutes ago and really like your tutorials. Thank you so much for teaching us!! :) my BJD will be so happy for get new clothes ^^
i'd have dobuts you'd check after like 2 years but i'm curious, can this be done with hand sewing? my sewing machine is very stupid and refuses to work at the moment >n
Hi! Sorry for the delayed response! What I would probably suggest doing is to do a few tiers. I would still keep the top section a cotton type of fabric, and make it close to the same size (but to whatever scale your doll is) as I did in the video. Then, maybe do three tiers of tulle, all about the same height but different lengths. So lets say after you make the top section, you need to make the bottom section 6 inches to hit the floor. I'd make three sections 2 inches high each (plus seam allowance for each strip since you're attaching them all to each other), and maybe do something like: Top Layer - 14 inches wide x 2 inches high Middle Section - 22 inches wide x 2 inches high Bottom section - 30 inches wide x 2 inches high Those are by no means exact measurements, and I'm just kinda guessing, but try something like that! You basically just want to keep adding bulk as the skirt gets more full at the bottom (if you're doing an A-Line skirt that is). If you have any other questions or need pics or anything just send me a DM on Instagram and I'll try to explain better! Or if you want to send me a pic of the dress you're putting the petticoat under, then I can probably give you a better idea of sizes! I hope that makes sense!
@@MaileLani It does, I'll try it and if I ever have any questions, I will leave you a message on instagram. I appreciate the help, thank you. I had no sewing experience before I started customizing dolls, it's an amazing journey. My instagram is the same name I used here. Also, thank you for subscribing to my YT
@Mailelani hi! This video helped me a lot more than you could imagine! 😍🌈💓 Thank you so much! 😍💯. Oh! Btw, i was just wondering, it would be amazing if you could teach us how to make a lolita blouse for dolls for the next see with me series. And maybe how to make miniature stuffed toys too, if it might be alright to be bold and request for it 😁💯🌈
Hi there!! I am reaching out to you as a new sewer. I am not sure if you will see this but I am trying to make a long petticoat for a 17 inch doll. I am not very sure on how to convert measurements for this project. Do you have any advice? I did pick up some supplies alright. I just have to get to work!
I always just use the Schmetz universal ones. I think I paid around $35 for 100 of them about a year ago and haven't even made a dent in them LOL. I know they're a little more expensive than others but I think it's def worth it! I hope that helps!!
@@MaileLani thankyou so much. I have zero knowledge in sewing and in types of fabrics as well. hehe. I made a dress for my doll last night and I burned the edges of my fabric. lol.
@@trappedcat7844 Of course!! I'm glad I could help! And you can technically burn the edges of certain fabrics, but Frey check is a lot easier with less risk of destroying your piece of fabric haha.
I'm 71 and I try making barbie clothes for my youngest grandaughter but noone seems to make a realistic barbie ballet tutu I have tried making a all in one then I try putting layers of net but it never looks good so it goes in the bin
@@katecapp6336 They're such pretty kitties!! My sister really wants one actually haha. I think her neighbor had one and she's been obsessed ever since! I don't think mine will let me get another cat otherwise I'd probably end up with one too LOL
It really just depends on the doll honestly, and the elastic you're using! Some are more "elastic" than others hehe. I can't remember what I did for this one, honestly I just thread it through and kinda guess... I'm never super specific about it. It just needs to stretch enough to go over the widest part of the dolls legs/hips/booty. I hope that helps!

Hahaha no she isn't she's just a street tabby cat LOL. My friend found her when she was a tiny kitten and then she became mine hehehe.
