Ok I have a dumb question since I haven’t played a mech game since 3 and I’m considering this one… what is the difference in the control scheme between the two options?
@@imaginarybaron5864 the "modern" one makes your mech basically a FPS characters, while the "classic", used by all mechwarrior games, gives you control of your mech's torso indipendently of your legs, much like a walking tank:)
Its kind hard to comprehend how the age-old formula "Story Missions interconnected by Video Clips that both move a captivating narrative forward" is not only still alive and kicking, but also is perceived as something innovative when done appropriately. Yes, open world stuff, procedural generation, character generation and the like are nice, but there is a reason why tons of games did it: It just works so well because you can fine-tune every litte detail.
The videos maker has kids and wants to at least attempt to stick to a weekly video. So, I have to do what I can to make a video. I switched between control schemes.
It’s insane to me that the first revival trailer of mechwarrior came out 15 years ago (the one with the war hammer vs atlas). I remember basically checking IGN everyday from 2004 hoping I’d see more mechwarrior. I would love to see you do a deep dive in the crapshow that came out of that, and how it eventually was salvaged as mechwarrior online, which brings us to mw5 clans today.
Wow, I haven't played since MW3 and you're really making me want to get back into the series. I was too young to appreciate the story of MW2 and MW3, I wonder if I should play them first...
I would, if you are OK with older graphical styles. Otherwise, it's a great series to get into. I'd say the only one that isn't too great to really drop into is the original game.
I tried Mechwarrior 5 Mercs back when it first launched in the epic games store and I just couldn't get into that game at all, the sandbox nature without handcrafted missions wasn't thrilling at all and the lack of difficulty selection meant I struggled at moments and with the lack of a story there wasn''t anything keeping my interest in the game. Heck, even the skirmish mode was disappointing to me, you can't even choose the enemy in that mode so I just dropped the game and didn't look back. Clans on the other hand is quite refreshing to me, cohesive progression with a nice story mode is keeping me engaged, I've been enjoying my time with it so far, the only major issue I have with it is the lack of that instant action from the old titles where you get to pick your enemies to fight in an arena.
I've been enjoying it too, but I agree. I would have actually enjoyed the instant action mode here. I didn't care for it in some entries, but I liked it in MW2. Hope they add it. It seems they were pushing the game out, since the release date kept jumping throughout Oct.
What you said here pretty much mirrors my own experience with MW5 Mercs. To me that game felt like a tech demo or something you might show a publisher in order to get funding so that you can then craft an actual campaign.
Timothy Seals's soundtrack got me into Mechwarrior. And the fantastic OST of the MW5 and it's dlcs. Especially Heroes of the inner Sphere. Coming Storm is just perfect. Giants mechs are also there :)
I fired up MW5:C and I liked some things, and I got excited when the computer voice was very obviously inspired by the lines in the original MW2 intro. Cockpit sounds and animations I thought look and sound great. Less exciting was the weapon effects which I think are mostly a downgrade from Mech 5 Mercs, especially the fractal explosion that happens when a laser hits the cockpit glass, and even more disappointing was once again, the computer voice only blurts out a minimum of information. I was so disappointmed when I lost an arm and once again, I didn't even realize because there was almost no feedback. Some of the best moments from the earlier games, especially Mech 2 was when you were losing. CRITICAL HIT LEFT ARM. CRITICAL HIT. HEAT. SYNC. I loved that stuff and it's disappointing that once again I have to hope someone makes a mod to fix it. I'll give the game another shot for sure and I'm glad to hear about some of the cool stuff the game does have.
@@KeiNova You should play it a bit more, though I'd recommend playing it with all the DLC from the start. It really adds to the gameplay to take part in the historical events a the timeline moves forward.
Oh, hey, if you wanna look into the MW5 modding scene, there's a few discords with active modders in them that'd likely be happy to hear out any questions you might have for them :)
Thanks for the review. The game looks cool. As someone enjoyed MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries on PC via GOG (but not that familiar with the source material), I would have already bought this if it was on GOG.
@@KeiNova Thanks for the reply. I do remember when MW5 Mercs first came out, it was an Epic Games exclusive. It took 2 years for it to come out on Steam and GOG. Hopefully it won't take that long for the new game.
Great video. I picked up the game but I haven't dived into it yet We've been waiting a bit for some hotfixes as things like controls not saving is is a bit worry some, and I have to setup the joystick controls all over again. (I was very disappointed that there were no improvements for joystick support form MW5: Mercs.) 4:55 - Well, Battletech is often short on true villains, but in this case, you're vat-grown clone soldiers from a communist military police state invading known space on a war of conquest solely for the purposes of imposing your ideology and a caste system on the people there, and the primary target for the invasion is the Free Rasalhague Republic which just won their independence for The Lyran Commonwealth and Draconis Combine and so, they haven't really had any chance to be evil enough to get the "deserved it" tag. Then there's the fact that you're playing Smoke Jaguar. :D You're definitely playing the objective bad guys this time around. :D Also, yeah, the Clan era really is the high point of the series. Though to be honest, it's usually a better game setup to be fighting the clans rather than playing as them. Hopefully we'll get to revisit fighting against the clans as a merc company like MW2: Merchs someday, though it doesn't seem like that will happen. 16:33 - That is weird that they don't have an Enhanced Imaging display in the mechs. By 3050 most clan mechs should have that installed. Though it probably shouldn't a be a wireframe anymore, that's something the old games did for performance, it'd probably have solid body mechs kind of like the Battletech cartoon. 20:40 - Considering where I've heard this game ends, I think it's a given there will be DLC to continue the story. Also, if you haven't gotten it, I do really recommend the MW5: Mercs DLC. There's some very fun campaigns to play in there. If you're a fan of Battletech's history (I say history rather than lore because that's how it's always felt. The game is a historical wargame for a fictional history and it's always presented that way.) it's a lot of fun to take part in events like the formation of the Free Rasalhague Republic. In fact it's probably best to have all the DLC before you start a playthrough as the different DLC campaigns open up at different dates in the timeline and it really does help to show the way the IS changes over time. Though I agree the original storyline didn't grab me either, I ended up chasing after DLC instead of doing that.
@@KeiNova the DLC was mentioned in their Q1 report released back in August, but I don't think many people paid much attention to it or spoke widely about it online.
Personally I love both the games, Mercs5 i own all the expansions and have a few thousand hours under my belt, tbh i wouldn't have that much if not for the mods. Clans I loved the story and the perspective but i do wonder how much replaybility there is, there are two story arcs primary being the crusader and 2nd arc under the warden story line and the achievements there's not really much more. i am hearing there maybe a open sandbox further down the line like Mercs5.
I thought this game would be longer we end at Luthien instead of Tukayyid. It would be much cooler if we could also fight in the last battle of the Invasion. I know Smoked Jaguars got crushed there and it would be nice to die and end the game there if you choose to stick with Smoked ones. An endless mech spawn untill everyone of your star mates are gone. I disliked that I could not fight the Dire Wolf in the trial, they just cinematically killed me. I know I would not have killed it but I know some people would.
Sort of like the end of Reach? That would be really memorable and epic. I have to agree! Yeah, I expected to be able to at least try to beat the Dire Wolf. I didn't think I could, but it might have made the opening more tense!
Its funny the Clans where such a thing thats different from most tabletop games that GW “borrowed” (blood ravens style) a lot of their elements for the squat relaunch. That being said the clanners aren’t really gone from the inner sphere in the later eras (Clan Wolf manages to eventually plot armor their way to Terra), though the post Clan Invasion/Fedcom civil war era really divides the fanbase so setting a game in the Ilclan era probably will never happen..
You know clans are also barrowed, thier entire concept is based off the zentradi from Macross. Or Klingons, sure their backstory is unique the return of some old faction that exiled themselves into the far reaches of space, before a great war, saw technological decline, mostly the secoubd succession war were comstar got involved XD
OmniShpere.... what happens when you take the Inner Sphere and the Clans and make them kiss... Glad to hear they nailed the weapon balance. That's something I loved about the table top game, all weapons were made of trade offs and they all shined when used right, and bite you in the ass when you don't and where meant to compliment each other. Good stuff. Of course, when it comes to the lore... it is hard to know how to handle things since the lore in this setting is scary deep so you're not going to have the time to dive in as far as you need on ever event and character (even Tex had to skip over things in his Amaris Civil War videos and that's almost 3 hours long!) but you also don't want to make them overly simplified so it's hard to find the right balance of depth and brevity.
I know, I really have some embarrassing mix-ups at times. But I guess it is what it is! The weapon balance is pretty good compared to older entries. I'm still not too versed with BT due to time at home and not having a whole lot of room to play right now. So, I hope it is actually closer to that! I honestly didn't know that the Clan era was so huge. But I know there are 40 plus novels so I can only imagine its vast! Pretty intimidating honestly.
@@KeiNova It happens, and it gave me a laugh so I count it as a win heh. But yeah, the clan era is huge. It, in a round about way, is what got me into Battletech. I remember walking into a new comic/gaming store to see what manga they had (this was in the 90's, before it was main stream so it a given they would have any... God, I'm old >.>) and the had a RPG/wargaming section. I just kind walked past it until the cover of a Battletech Technical Readout caught my eye: On the cover was the Timberwolf and I kinda feel in love. Grabbed the book, saw all the cool art and mechs in it.... and the rest is history).
Yeah, probably but I think Protomechs don't really represent the universe very well anymore. Unless you really think people are going to care about an 80s and 90s cartoon inspired Bull-headed Battlemech.
@KeiNova more like I would hope pgi modernizes the designs like how their takes in mwo broke the ice on modernizing the art of classic battletech. Realistically though, gameplay that plays to protomech strengths probably doesn't fit in the framework they've made for the mechwarrior games.
Yeah well, as great as it is, it has some bizarre flaws, like the weirdly written lore breaking dialogue of the Wolf's Dragoons characters, I don't think that saw oversight before being approved for voice actor reading, to the voice actors themselves being miscast for some of the characters, with older characters being played by younger voice actors making their voice seem a little off, to the bugs which carried on over from MW5 such as... moronic AI teammates and the VTOLs deciding to randomly spin on their undercarriage turret. So yeah, the game is rough around the edges, but it is the first truly dynamic, cinematic and campaign driven Mechwarrior title in 20 years and PGI hasn't attempted to make a game of this scale before, ever. So for them trying to tackle this sort of game again after all these years and actually make something decent with the small team they have is an achievement in itself, especially considering how difficult it is to make games like this these days, since the days of making games like this with only 50 developers is long gone at this point, I'm sure the cash injection from Enad Global helped a lot in making it possible, since MWO has such a tiny community it only makes enough money to keep the staff paid and the lights on.
Personally felt the characters were a bit off. The facial expressions more so. Just how they acted didn't give off the impression of people who had been indoctrinated from birth into a eugenic crazed militant clan system. It rubbed me the wrong way all the way until the end of the game. No spoilers but that feeling did go away near the end for those interested, there does feel like a point where they grow up a bit into their clan roles.
@@KeiNova I don't think so. Just how it all played out makes me think that it was an attempt to still have the player characters be "good" in spite of clan's reputation. Which is a shame, a game based off of clan politics and really playing into that ruthless nature of the Clans would have been more fun. That is why I enjoyed the ending alot more than the start, because they finally felt like Clanners in the end.
@@puddingpoppalpatine-6070It's honestly a bit jarring how they flip from "we're larping as generic clanners" to "we are smoke jaguar, you are prey" at the flip of a button far too late into the game. At least there's that little bit of consistency where MC stays a larping whiner to the end though. Hope he'll get the Casey Nolan treatment in coming DLC.
This game is definately the best installment of this game since Mech Warrior 4 : Mercenaries. Now, i think i still like that game more since Duncan Fisher alone made half the game, but i have to say narratively this game is better. It has a very lore-accurate story which lets you experience things from the viewpoint of the clans, gameplay that is polished and fun. AI as i thought was the weakest part of this game. Unfortunately PGI cant make good AI that can make tactical decisions, and years of MWO spoiled us on that front even further. Comparison is stark. But otherwise its great game that is a MUST play for any mech fan. Now im hopeful of next one. I hope we get a game at ilClan era.
What are the chances they will now remake MW3? I'd LOVE that. Keep the original intel officer's briefings, make terrain a bit less barren (more random buildings/vegetation and slight elevation changes) and update graphically, give it the original 2 campaigns and add possibility of repeatable 'salvage run' missions, and it'd be like childhood back again!
TBH, I'm torn. I've seen as much positive as negative reviews and both have valid points. With no demo and the game being this expensive I guess I'll wait for a sale.
Cant run this yet due to graphics card needing an upgrade but glad this one actually is good. I know you are growing channel but do you think you'd ever do a discord? Would be cool to chat with other grown up mech fans.
This game reignited my interest in Battletech! But because the game tells you basically nothing about Clan society, I found myself filling in the blanks with my own headcanon. A big no-no in the eyes of the community, I've come to find out. I appreciated the streamlined delivery, but a lexicon or a lore section explaining clan history, social structure and politics would have done wonders imo. For example, I didn't really get the Clan's motivations for the invasion. At first, I thought they were a battle loving martial society who wanted to put their best against the best of others. Yeah, no - that's not even close to accurate lol as lore nerds I met later were VERY quick to correct me on. The characters talk in the early missions about seeing themselves as liberators, but without any additional context I wrote that off as the whims of a group of young pilots. Nope, that savior complex is a central theme and motivator for the invasion as a whole. I always knew the lore in BT was strong but I didn't realize that you can find an almost year-by-year account of the entire history of the inner sphere starting with the first succession war. The level of detail is insane. I got corrected HARD for some of my assumptions coming off of the story in this game and it really put me off from engaging with the larger community at all. So hopefully we can stop the gatekeeping and grow this franchise with new fans starting with Clans and its future expansions (mentioned by the studio head I believe after the positive reception of Clans)
You're absolutely right. Playing these games for my channel brought a lot of negativity from the BattleTech community because I didn't know the universe inside and out. I genuinely enjoy exploring it, but not knowing every detail about the Clan invasions or the intricate novel plots tied to these games' timelines got me thoroughly criticized. That said, I’ve also encountered many kind people who have shared their knowledge and helped me understand the universe better. It’s reassuring to know there are folks out there who are willing to support others in learning about this vast and complex world, one step at a time. Unfortunately, the loud negativity can make it harder for those who are just trying to dive in and learn. I’m sorry you’ve experienced that as well!
"...but come with less variety than the inner sphere mechs." - ugg...I hate hardpoint systems SO much. They've been trash since they were implemented and by GOD piranha is going to force them down our throats. "you might want to skip the manual customization." "Chances are you'll end up with something pretty close to what's already preconfigured" - yes, exactly. Why on god's green earth is it so impossible to get a mechwarrior game that actually capitalizes on the source material. Where logistics matter. Where combined arms matter. Where being an omni mech actually confers a benefit instead of 'less variety than the inner sphere. The reason this particular setting is so popular is because the clans are NOT any type of innersphereoid; all 6+ shades of 'elites ruling peasants who magically keep having the only dominate technology in the universe'. No DLC? OH MY FOOT - other clan mechs for one. I know I come off salty. And I am. Since MWO times. I'm still waiting for a proper simulation-esque mechwarrior, a game about thinking, positioning, distances, and finally pilot skill. My problem is that PGI is just not doing that. They are getting steadily closer to arena shooters. Oh well. It's too bad IP is a thing, people could have such different interpretations of settings and fun.
No DLC yet, as far as I'd saw. But I'm just a guy on the net and not PGI. Sorry. Your concerns are totally valid, and I agree for the most part. It needed more customization. And yeah, I think this one skirts the line of FPS pretty close honestly.
@@KeiNova I appreciate it, and don't get me wrong I appreciate the review. I'm just frustrated with the franchise direction. They keep running toward current day popular game modes and types instead of focusing on what made mechwarrior fun and unique. Strategy, Logistics, Diplomacy, Decisions etc. An RPG would be great and much more in line with MW2. I can see that's kind of what they did for this. But all the reviews I see, the game play is basically slaughter dumb ai. Enemies have no fear of death whatsoever. IDK, MWO was great for a while, then they got sucked into mech packs, going free to play, and myth of perfect balance. They moved to Mercs, and it was terribly done. It was modded into a good state. They dropped mech packs dlc and moved on to mercs - clans. And idk, it just looks like a pattern to me.
Great review! Always happy to see a new upload from you. I feel like the sometimes-rigid voice acting actually tracks to the Clanners lore wise. Maybe a happy coincidence 😂. Can't wait for your next mechwarrior video!
It's flawed and lacks strategical depth, as in no active/passiv radar all enemies spawn right in your face and so on, almost no customization and it feels like an fps so it draws more crowds instead of a mech simulation, the scale looks like you are 2m tall instead of 20m; BUT it is still the best MW game since MW3. The lore and the world make up for the blunders of the core game play. Every MW or BT fan should play this so we can get a bigger and even better game next time around. Also because it is so much fun, even in single player.
My dude... What did you say about not bothering with customization? REALLY? The base Omnipod sets SUCK 90% of the time. You only pick them up to mix and match desired hardpoints. And if you play on Expert difficulty, customization is borderline mandatory, because you'll need to stack armor pods in order to avoid being shredded.
Too short. Too few options and customizations. Got Nova, started popping heads consistently. Got bored. Last mission was the only challenging one and still one shot it. Not worth 39 hours of gameplay.
I understand the too few options and customizations. I got the Nova but the power it took to fire all those lasers gave me both a disadvantage and advantage at times. 39 Hours though, is pretty good for a game honestly.
@@KeiNovai still enjoyed the game and bought day 1 to support the franchise but its kinda a mess itll take modders to fix it just like mercs did. The devs learned nothing. Very disappointing

In the case of MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries there was an aggregiously large amount of DLCs. More content is fine but these were including stuff that should have always been there and since MW5 Mercs was released in a sorry state - it didn't have.
@@KeiNova I’m very familiar with the content and state of Mechwarrior 5 Mercs at release. And it’s many DLCs. I was very happy to see the game getting continued support from the devs and players. “Should have been there from the start”. That seems like a very selfish statement. Which features exactly? Who decides what “should” have been there? PGI is a small company and Mechwarrior is a niche franchise. Making Mechwarrior warrior games is not a safe financial investment. MW5 Mercs was released when it was because the company couldn’t afford to wait any longer. It boggles my mind to see people complaining about getting new content for a game they like and then complaining that it should have been given to them sooner, for free. Insanity.
@@edinalewis4704MechWarrior is not a niche franchise, it's a representation of the Battletech franchise. It's a legacy franchise that has been fought over legally for decades due to its extremely loyal fan base and deeply engrained lore. Microsoft literally owns the rights, PGI got their license after Smith and Tinker was forced out. The only reason PGI has the rights is due to a legal opportunity that came up due to their joint Kickstarter that fell through. Your opinion on DLC is valid, but when a game lacks even half the elements of an entry released in 1995 - and those elements are trickled back to you as individual transactions, then people do have a right to dislike it.
what they did right with the dlcs is that all the core elements were added to the base game as well, you didn't need to buy dlcs to get those. also dlc are decent, maybe only the last one is not the best..
@@KeiNovaYes it was. Skill choice is at the core of character creation and is sorely missing. Narrative agency would be nice, but having to switch control to a different pilot with a skillset suited for the mech you want to use is a harsher break of immersion than a lack of dialogue trees or haircut choice.

Relax, it's only a game. For my part I think 18 hours is long enough, I don't have as much time I used to when I played these as a kid. I prefer a solid 18 hour experience to a padded 40 hour one by far. I also don't mind the political stuff. Mechwarrior has always been political and the fact it riled you up so much suggests it worked!
I wished i loved this game but i dont. The console controller scheme has been butchered with the weapon groups being reduced to multi button combinations(encouraging weapons group just 1 or 2) . The mech lab was made worse from mw5 in display and information. The weapon points mainly being on the arms is so limiting when missions are slug matches and bad moves means losting 50% of weapons. The battlefield command is so useless especially on console compared to how fast you can issue commands in mechwarrior 5. I dont like the xp system for mech and pilots and wished they just focused that attention on the combat.
I haven't really played it with a controller but that does sound like an issue. With keyboard, I was using 3-4 weapon groups and fully utilizing my weaponry! I didn't really find myself getting into the whole customization because it did feel pretty limited overall. I played around with the Battlefield commands a lot, but they seemed REALLY simple.
3 weapon groups are perfectly doable. Would have preferred the 4 directly accessible from MW5Mercs but 6 groups are certainly more doable than using a timing critical system like MASC via menu navigation.
It has issues(optimization, bugs, optimization, only 16 Clan mechs, optimization, no new game plus, optimization....) but this is A MUCH BETTER GAME than Mercenaries. Mainly because it HAS AN ACTUAL GOOD story & no bullsh*t RNG. Oh yeah, it also has the Timber Wolf & the Dire Wolf. You know, THE QUINTESSENTIAL WESTERN MECHAS? EDIT: After the latest update, I had no choice but to request a refund with Steam. Repeated crashes to the point of being unable to progress any missions due to UE5 fatal errors. Until PGI fixes this, I CANNOT recommend it now matter how good the game is. A shame really, because this is the same issue with Mercs during release time. Get it the f**k together, Piranha. And a reminder that UE5 is a pile of horse manure of a game engine.
Ah I never thought to mention the new game plus and only had like one glitch the whole time I played. But yeah, it was pretty good for the story alone and no RNG. More Timber Wolf always!
how is only 16 clan mechs a bad deal? how many other clan mechs are present at the beginning of clan invasion? To my understanding these 16 mechs are lore accurate because omipods exist to quickly mount different weapons depending on the tasks ahead.

Now we need MechCommander 3

Agreed, Jayden isn't a great name.
@@KeiNova Yeah, I certainly don't want a gene-father who is a b*tch that slaps Chris Rock LMAO
Can’t wait to give this a watch when I get home in a bit!
Thank you for the support Bravo.
Timothy Seals's soundtrack got me into Mechwarrior. And the fantastic OST of the MW5 and it's dlcs. Especially Heroes of the inner Sphere. Coming Storm is just perfect.
Giants mechs are also there :)
I have to say, I regretted not talking about the soundtrack here. So, I'll have to mention it when I get to that video.
They actually brought back the original actress Carol Ruggier which is neat.
All good points, honestly. I never played enough MW5, so for me this was bombastic and explosively new!
@@KeiNova You should play it a bit more, though I'd recommend playing it with all the DLC from the start. It really adds to the gameplay to take part in the historical events a the timeline moves forward.
If I remember correctly, the cockpit glass thing you are talking about is actually from a mod, 5M doesn't have any cockpit effects from weapon fire
I haven't played any game in the series since the MW4 Mercenaries, but this one I'll definitely look into.
I will say, I don't think it's up with MW4 Mercenaries in quality at all. That Mercs was the best one.
Oh, hey, if you wanna look into the MW5 modding scene, there's a few discords with active modders in them that'd likely be happy to hear out any questions you might have for them :)
I might actually do that come my MW5 Mercs vid.
The "wireframe" mode is Enhanced Imaging, which requires specific neural implants which your star does not have. So it makes no sense to have it
Thank you for the elaboration!
My biggest complaint is there are no indicators you are taking damage. Minimal noise you're taking shots and no rocking of your cockpit.
Incidentally, this was a serious issue with the original Armored Core 4.
Thanks for the review. The game looks cool. As someone enjoyed MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries on PC via GOG (but not that familiar with the source material), I would have already bought this if it was on GOG.
I hope they bring it over. I'm not sure how long it took to get MW5 Mercs on GOG though.
@@KeiNova Thanks for the reply. I do remember when MW5 Mercs first came out, it was an Epic Games exclusive. It took 2 years for it to come out on Steam and GOG. Hopefully it won't take that long for the new game.
They do need a mech DLC to add playable mechs like the Ebon Jag and the IIC mechs.
Yeah, that would be awesome. But I think if they add something like that it should be free since it is a Jag clan BattleMech.
IIc mech usually are used for garrison stars, you wouldn't see them invading
I love the game so far! I'm hoping they make a dlc for each of the invading clans next. The story is good and the characters are great.
That would be awesome.
Great video. I picked up the game but I haven't dived into it yet We've been waiting a bit for some hotfixes as things like controls not saving is is a bit worry some, and I have to setup the joystick controls all over again. (I was very disappointed that there were no improvements for joystick support form MW5: Mercs.)
4:55 - Well, Battletech is often short on true villains, but in this case, you're vat-grown clone soldiers from a communist military police state invading known space on a war of conquest solely for the purposes of imposing your ideology and a caste system on the people there, and the primary target for the invasion is the Free Rasalhague Republic which just won their independence for The Lyran Commonwealth and Draconis Combine and so, they haven't really had any chance to be evil enough to get the "deserved it" tag. Then there's the fact that you're playing Smoke Jaguar. :D
You're definitely playing the objective bad guys this time around. :D
Also, yeah, the Clan era really is the high point of the series.
There is definitely DLC coming... Enad Global 7's latest financial report mentioned it.
Ah, thanks for the tip! When I got this game, it was Day 1 release.
@@KeiNova the DLC was mentioned in their Q1 report released back in August, but I don't think many people paid much attention to it or spoke widely about it online.
Great review. I totally agree on Emilee, her character design is great but also intimidating. All of the characters are compelling.
They all were. I'd like to see some backstory on them all too, honestly.
@KeiNova i just barely got to where the ilclan is killed and I'll admit I did not expect how the characters change!
If they were to add a NG plus, it might get a bit more replay value out of it. I'm curious about that myself, if they add it free or as DLC.
Was the whole Clone People but not really Clone People thing introduced by Batlletech Clans?
@@ledor2457 naw, clans practice eugenics
I have always hated pulse lasers. I'll be sure to see if they're actually cool for once. :)
Me too. They were so good I didn't even realize it was them I was using until after the first arc.
You know what would make good dlc. Protomech campaign, they were "popularized" by CSJ after all.
I highly suggest a timberwolf with 9 medium pulse lasers
I'll give it a shot!
This game did a great job. I loved the story and character interactions.
Me too!
@@josepablolunasanchez1283 absolutely agree! Gameplay got even better as well
love this game. wasnt a fan of any of the mw games after mw2.
I really liked it too, thank you.
I get that, but I think they were just trying to humanize the characters and make it seem like Clans could actually be humans.
Its great to see this review with your perspective. I have found the same as yourself and I'm really enjoying the game. Way better than MW5
fantastic review
New Kei-Nova!!!!!!
Thank you!! Fashionably late per usual!
I seem to remember the legal rights to MW2 and 3 being a mess.
TBH, I'm torn. I've seen as much positive as negative reviews and both have valid points. With no demo and the game being this expensive I guess I'll wait for a sale.
Exciting! There are a lot of titles that came out this week tempting me. Watching this makes me want it even more!
I would definitely suggest it because it really does harm back to MW2 era storylines but it is a bit simpler to play, honestly.
Cant run this yet due to graphics card needing an upgrade but glad this one actually is good.
I know you are growing channel but do you think you'd ever do a discord? Would be cool to chat with other grown up mech fans.
I'm loving this video
Thank you!
@@KeiNova it's alright! A little negativity from the nerds(honestly, I'm one too) doesn't diminish my enjoyment of Clans. Looking forward to more!
I kinda liked Merc Warrior 5, after the game ends in Clan, now what, I want more you know?
Play Mercenaries with mods
There were some missions that were straight slug fests and with the poor AI you’ll pull your hair out just on Normal.
Its a huge step back from mercs.
I respect your opinion on that.
@@KeiNovai still enjoyed the game and bought day 1 to support the franchise but its kinda a mess itll take modders to fix it just like mercs did. The devs learned nothing. Very disappointing

“Too many expansions”? I don’t understand? Do people genuinely want less content?
Disagree completely Mercenaries got great DLC and continued support
what they did right with the dlcs is that all the core elements were added to the base game as well, you didn't need to buy dlcs to get those. also dlc are decent, maybe only the last one is not the best..
A defining chapter? You meeen another display of greed?
Isn't every game a product, and therefore could be considered a display of greed?
Weak argument to not have custom character creation
Wasn't an argument.
Replayability 0/100
That is fair. But it's also the case for 90 percent of older MW games too.

@@Knufffii I think maybe people were hoping for the Kodiak, Stone Rhino, etc. It's only 16 because this is Smoke Jaguar though.
@@KeiNova I'll add that I think the Ebon Jaguar/Cauldron Born should've been in the base roster. It's THE Jaguar's version of Timber Wolf after all.
What the hell's a Timer Wolf and Dire Wolf? My record sheets say Mad Cat and Daishi on them :D
