Brann is only useful as a healer. His dps sucks a lot so no point is having him as dps. But as healer he's very useful. The health potions he drops on the floor are very good and work on my hunter pets.
@@daelynthgames At the start of a fight he drops 3 healing potions on the floor near you. When you see your HP or your pet's HP drop, pick up 1 of them, then again...and again. Also use these curios: Porcelain + Amorphous
Good video, I also got a level 60 brann, I do find interesting I see a lot of delve content creators who do the zek'vir fight not knowing about the fact you can order Brann to kill the Egg by hitting G (if you didn't change keybinds) when the egg is selected. Brann, like the AI companions in the companion dungeons, listens to pings, like the G command to force him on eggs. I got my hardmode zekvir done when my brann was level 42 post nerf, so i couldn't cheese but learning you can tell brann to shoot the egg made the whole fight easy and still so so many people haven't figured this out at all yet! So spread the word~
at the start of the season you could feel the difference with your Brann and I did everything to be sure to max his XP each week, then they decided to nerf him to the ground and make him useless, heal or dps. thanks for another deep dive, the only reason to finish him now is for the achievements.
Honestly maybe the reward for getting him to 60 should have been a tank spec version of brann, at the very least he could then be used to carry lower ilv'd alts into tier 8 delves. I guess we can only wait and see how they tackle the next delve season and hope for improvements, thanks for sharing your findings.
I definitely think there will be a tank spec next season or at least some sort of hybrid one. I also think any retired max level delve helper like Brann should be able to add to your follower dungeon roster in the future (even just for cosmetic purpose), now that will give people more motivation to grind it.
I wanted to practice a bit of holy priest healing and was really surprised that I generate more threat than dps Brann. Glad to know I wasn’t experiencing something unique.
Healing threat is busted in delves. My Brann is 60 and he pulls aggro all the time. It only took me one delve running as healer to realize I was gonna tank as well. 😂
Don't flame my personal healer. He drops healing potion so I have to pick it up like a dog. As a healer he does a good job and as a dd I haven't used him yet because he is indispensable for me as a healer.
It's possible to get Brann to tank for you but it requires playing rogue or hunter. On my 580ish newly leveled rogue I took my 60 Brann and set him to heals then at the start of each pull I would tricks him and vanish if I gained threat. Doing this made level 8 delves very easy with minimal gear on that character.
I have mixed feelings about Brann. As a Solo in delves Brann is great as a duo he’s a nightmare. If I die for example and I’m party leader, Brann respawns with me and will ignore the second player even if they are in desperate need of healing. Is this how the delve mechanic is supposed to work? In duo’s it’s like his timing is off, constantly throwing out potions after fights have ended.
For real. Of all the classes they could’ve picked they chose a HUNTARD. Not only does he spam the screen with pets, but his own hit box is enormous and his AI is set so he tries to crawl up your butt whenever you move.
I have tried doing a delve on my shaman as resto thinking Brann might be able to tank it when he was lv30ish... yeah, that thoroughly sucked, Brann generates no meaningful aggro and I scrapped the idea of completing my run maybe 1/4 of the way through. Not worth the stress compared to how quick and easy 5-man 600ish ilvl delves usually are.
All i want is for them to remove Brann's feign death. Currently chasing that ?? Zek'vir on my rogue at 610. Completely doable, but losing a huge part of my rotation because if i Vanish, combat might drop completely and reset the encounter is so annoying to deal with
I dunno if I agree. Especially at low item levels Brawn in dps is a perfect partner to my brew master monk. I tank I heal and we both DPS. We did atier 10 devle at 596 ilevel in the second week of hitting 80. I tried 11 at 605 in week 3. I'll try again at 615 but it's totally smooth grinding tier 8s with no stress. Windwalker on the other hand with bran healing has to constantly pick up potions which is a bit distracting and generally be more careful and overall it's slower and not as smooth.
ok, so my brann is about lvl 30, my warrior is about 590ilvl. i went into a T8 delve the other day on my arms warrior for the first time in a while, pulled the first trash pack, died. second pack, died, third pack, nearly died. wasn't get any healing pots on the ground, thought brann was set as dps and being useless, but no, for some reason his curios and spec had been reset. set him up as healer with the same curios you used, no more deaths, fairly easy run. whilst he may not be the best dps, he's actually pretty good at keeping you alive. as long as you're capable of picking up the healing pots he drops.
Due to the current tuning yes, healer Brann will end up being more valuable for DPS specs compared to damage Brann. That doesn't make him good, it just means his damage build is grossly undertuned, and a bit of external healing will allow you to stay in the fight for longer without having to worry about survivability. The bigger issue is that leveling him up, ESPECIALLY for healing, provides next to 0 advantage. There's a reason I only evaluated damage Brann in this video. His potions already fully heal you at lower levels, so a Level 60 Healer Brann is functionally identical to one at Level 30. That's a pretty major design flaw (and the solution is to buff the 60 version, not nerf the 30 version).
Yes they reset for some reason so now when I go in I always check his skills and sure enough reset. I only woke up one run where his health was going down faster than i can take a dumb.

Me, a casual, over here on my 604 holy paladin trying to do t8 delves. I can without any hesitation that doing t8 delves is a masochistic venture. I literally only run fungal folly for my great vault slots. OK Well yeah and also for the 2 runed crests per run.
he's not useless just because he doesn't do as much damage as you. The extra healing from leveling him has certainly been visible doing delves now vs the start of the season, though the main important factor remains getting your relics to tier 4 and getting all his abilities unlocked (which is only like level 30 or so tops) which provides the majority of his power. Kind of like capping out an artifact weapon in legion where after a certain point of exponential growth for minimal power it does a lot less than at the start. IE: 1 brann with no curios = trash, 30 brann with maxed curious = holy shit this is awesome 60 brann with maxed curios = that's a little better but won't make or break your delves for most people.
always knew Brann was a trash dps but what i hate more is how unreliable of a healer he is. he drops potions whenever he feels like it, always drops them in the worst spots, the potions despawn at the worst time, hide under terrain and ground effects. Thanks I hate it.
God yes, this is my #1 complaint about him healing. The potions spawn and despawn at the worst times. I’d prefer if they just spawn and stay until combat ends. So he’ll toss more but they won’t just disappear when you’re a pixel away going for them.
Bran with the wind up shot and a cancelaura macro to make kt trigger on demand actually does pretty decent dmg Manages to have him doing 750k dps on hard mode zekvir at 580 ilevel at only level 55 bran
He's not awful. I only have him at 35 at the moment but In tier 8 delves, I'm happy to have him around for the so/so healing he provides my Fury Warrior.
I did a t11 delves as an devastation evoker 607 ilvl , the trick is to get brann to tanks the boss. so engage the boss and stop dpsing and after that it's just a question of time and not dpsing too much for threat
You know, soloing ?? zek on a shitty 603 warlock was nightmarish for me(but i finally got it), then seeing your bear just stand in shit on ?? zek and not die is like, damn. I played the wrong class to do this stupid boss on. So many attempts. Healer bran was the only way to reliably do ?? zek for me, as his healing potions on the ground are very nice for dps. I just take healer brann + porcelain/Amorphus and blast through 4 8s in no time every week. Tbh at this stage i dont think a lot of people even need brann anymore, but he's still nice for heals when stuff gets semi sketchy with the bigger pulls solo. He does his purpose, and i think that's all he really needs to do. If he was OP damage then what would be the point of getting better at the game?
I love healy Brann, I dont really need him but having him with me means I can do stupid things and still survive. DPS Brann is great when leveling up alts in level 1 delves.
That must have taken some doing, mines only level 35 ish. Then again I only got my 200 delves achievement a few days ago. Edit: you can turn Brann into a temporary tank as a priest by using fade, but this seems to be the only threat reducer which works, using feint on my rogue does nothing.
I don't understand, please explain: what IS your expectation compared to which a companion that throws health potions right in your mouth, busts out direct heals, saves your ass from death every 3 minutes, bubbles you if set up that way, cooks for you buff food, summons very useful pets with fears and stuns, interrupts abilities you yourself cannot interrupt and right on time, too, executes at 35% hp if set up well, finds temporary abilities if set correctly, and picks up resources from all gathering professions all at once is identified as "dogshit" and "useless" 🤔 I am also currently finding it hard to get the Raisin Brann achievement at him on lvl 59 so I can't much relate to your nagging. I'm truly wondering what your idea of the companion would be. You don't really propose anything constructive, like, I don't know : why can't Bliz implement Brann to also be able to tank so that mages and healers have an easier time soloing.. And in the meantime, how about forgetting the approach of gather shit and aoe everything down for a moment and speccing into some crowd control and actually play strategy?
He's pretty good as a healer, for an idiot. I can usually single target one mob down while he draws all the agro. Of course he also breaks CC and pulls other groups with all his jumping around...
I do T8 delves on 7 toons weekly. Priest (shadow 617) - Mind control, mind soothe, fade, psychic scream. Pally (Ret/prot 615) - Pretty tanky, pretty bursty, self heals Monk (BM 611) - very tanky, touch of death, paralysis, ring of peace Shaman (Ele 613) - Prone to fears/aoe due to long cast times but strong Warrior (Prot 610) - similar to monk, takes almost no dmg but DPS is low, self healing is pretty good Druid (Balance 613) - Big bursty dps, stealth kitten, roots, vortex, frenzied regen, dash Hunter (BM 605) - Pets take the brunt of damage, feign, traps, disengage I seldom have problems on any of them. but if you're dying a lot, slow down, they aren't timed, you can kill 1 mob at a time if you can single them out. Healing Brann with arrow and amorphous.
I had a dream of solo gearing my healer alts in my free time. You know, like i did my dps and tank alts.... But its not worth it. Have to spec dps to do delves unless you just hate yourself. Exception is..... The priest. Mind controlling the right mob will out dps bran. Just have to remember to recast it every 30 seconds. Its absolutely no fun to do. But it works. I just wanted a healing test for my healing specs in delves. But you end up doing more dps than your companion. My Bran is 54.
Got my Brann to 60 a few days ago... just trying him out as dps on my tank classes and it's a little faster than him as heals... can't use him as dps on my dps classes.
Well yes, it will inherently be "faster" to have him as a DPS for tanks, since you generally won't require external healing. The point is that the time he saves is extremely trivial considering the time investment required to reach level 60.
Yeah, I thought at least that a fully leveled Brann would be useful for running new alts through Delves. Your testing shows that he is not nearly as helpful as I thought he might be.
My Uncle has trouble playing wow at his age, he has to click everything, and organizes his spells on the bar so they are in like a square, meaning he can only do like a max rotation of 6 spells, before he get's lost, he rarely kicks and has a hard time seeing anything outside of his bars, he usually never get's above lFR in gear so I was hoping this was a chance for him to get better gear and enjoy a part of the game he never has, but nah brann is like 50 for him and not helping him anymore then he was at 40. I have been carrying him through most delves, sadly I had thought the point of levelling brann was to make him op, but I guess the point of levelling him is achievements/cosmetics.
Idk why they thought adding an AI companion to something akin to Torghast, Visions, etc. was the way to go. I'd much rather Season 2 delves have no companion so they can actually tune these things with no companion in mind. Just make it so our characters vomit out potions every 15 seconds or w/e since that's all Brann is good for.
Brann is super annoying, he's always flying backwards into groups I didn't want to pull or muti shots and pulls way more than we can handle. I mean he's an accurate hunter player, but it doesn't make it any less annoying.
Delves were awesome & so was Brann during early access before actual release! Then they nerfed them with so many unnecessary changes that make no sense! Delves are DEAD to me until they are fixed if they ever are!!!
Delves aren't an inherently bad system, and I would argue they generally improve upon past systems like Torghast or Island Expeditions. That said, there are still many flaws that Blizzard needs to iron out, and Brann (or the NPC companion in general) is a big one.
First of all, if you are having over 15 toons at 80 and doing at least 2 bountiful delves weekly, getting him to 60 isn’t really an issue at all. I do think this is ONE of the ways to equip your newly 80 alts efficiently but I doubt it will be faster than doing dailies to get blood coins. If your toon is already out geared delves intended range - such as your toon is over 610 ilvl, then yes, a lvl 60 Brann is not making any difference than even at low 40. But I do think a very high lvl Brann (over 50+) does help when your newly 80 level toons especially in some sort of tank specs to run level 8 delves as I ran couple monks and Druid freshly reaching 80 and just bought all 561 greens from AH, I was able to complete the delve in this video roughly around 13-16 minutes of time, comparing to my Brann when he was around 20-30 level, I probably will need double the time spent.
You must not be using him as a healer. He's absolutely not useless. After watching this video I have to question why you do things you obviously don't like when you don't have to. With all the complaining about Brann and delves in general go do something else and stop all the bitching and moaning. Thank you
It's fine. Delves are fast. He's geared to stupid high ilevel where delves are trivial content so of course he finds brans dps low but like he's doing delves in 10mins or less can he really complain? the far bigger issue is the lack of point to doing tier 9 10 11 delves as they have no rewards over 8.
"Terrible grind" lol my dude, compared to parts of previous expansions this is barely a grind. Though perhaps you could have done a better test by using brann to clear tier 8 delves on freshly levelled 80's with your max level brann and then making an account on another region to see if it is even possible or something a player would want to do with an un-levelled brann. This is how im gearing all of my freshly levelled alts.
I have actively played every single WoW expansion. This is one of the most miserably long grinds I have done in a long time, and there's 0 player power locked behind it.

I'll never know because Delves are DEAD.. 2nd week after opening I was totally done, got it all, nothing left that I wanted. Not even the vault reward slot here, Maybe upen up higher levels if they want it to run longer.. It was a liberals pipe dream and we all know how well those go.. YUGE waste of time and effort.

Only as a tank do i bring dps brann. Tanks have so much heals its just dumb not to, and he's a free 300k dps ish .

I agree that a tank spec should exist, but it should be baseline, not locked behind Level 60.

I don't play Rogue, so I wasn't aware of that. Certainly sounds like a silly design oversight.
Tricks and misdirection does next to nothing also. Can't vanish or fight insta resets
Tricks also puts you in the risk of Brann running right through the door and resetting Zek'vir that way as well.

This has happened to me as well, I thought it was because I changed him on another Warband character but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Brann does higher DPS than half the PUGs, so I don't have any complaints. His execute ability is sweet.
I'm at 58 1/2 and he is barely doing anything on Details. Literally had an undergeared resto sham I was carrying that outdpsed him.

Really interesting I have been doing delves and got him to lvl 51 I have limited time to play. Might as well not do them as much.
He's pretty good as a healer, for an idiot. I can usually single target one mob down while he draws all the agro. Of course he also breaks CC and pulls other groups with all his jumping around...
My Brann is Lv55. At the beginning of lv 50 it feels like he level in slowmotion
Yea, the exponential jumps in XP required per level are extremely silly.
Is there a class you consider to be the best for solo delves or are they all completely liable?
Generally any tank spec will have an easy time soloing high tier delves. For ?? Zek'vir you'll want to play a DPS spec, though.
I do T8 delves on 7 toons weekly.
Priest (shadow 617) - Mind control, mind soothe, fade, psychic scream.
Pally (Ret/prot 615) - Pretty tanky, pretty bursty, self heals
Monk (BM 611) - very tanky, touch of death, paralysis, ring of peace
Shaman (Ele 613) - Prone to fears/aoe due to long cast times but strong
Warrior (Prot 610) - similar to monk, takes almost no dmg but DPS is low, self healing is pretty good
Druid (Balance 613) - Big bursty dps, stealth kitten, roots, vortex, frenzied regen, dash
Hunter (BM 605) - Pets take the brunt of damage, feign, traps, disengage
I seldom have problems on any of them. but if you're dying a lot, slow down, they aren't timed, you can kill 1 mob at a time if you can single them out.

I had a dream of solo gearing my healer alts in my free time. You know, like i did my dps and tank alts.... But its not worth it. Have to spec dps to do delves unless you just hate yourself. Exception is..... The priest. Mind controlling the right mob will out dps bran. Just have to remember to recast it every 30 seconds. Its absolutely no fun to do. But it works. I just wanted a healing test for my healing specs in delves. But you end up doing more dps than your companion. My Bran is 54.

Got my Brann to 60 a few days ago... just trying him out as dps on my tank classes and it's a little faster than him as heals... can't use him as dps on my dps classes.
Well yes, it will inherently be "faster" to have him as a DPS for tanks, since you generally won't require external healing. The point is that the time he saves is extremely trivial considering the time investment required to reach level 60.

Yeah, I thought at least that a fully leveled Brann would be useful for running new alts through Delves. Your testing shows that he is not nearly as helpful as I thought he might be.
Bran actually does good damage whilst leveling, specially with a max level scope + cancelaura scope macro
I only used him to farm some gold so my Brann is only 20ish

My Brann is 59...my account is linked with my sons...so we will make it easy.
My Uncle has trouble playing wow at his age, he has to click everything, and organizes his spells on the bar so they are in like a square, meaning he can only do like a max rotation of 6 spells, before he get's lost, he rarely kicks and has a hard time seeing anything outside of his bars, he usually never get's above lFR in gear so I was hoping this was a chance for him to get better gear and enjoy a part of the game he never has, but nah brann is like 50 for him and not helping him anymore then he was at 40. I have been carrying him through most delves, sadly I had thought the point of levelling brann was to make him op, but I guess the point of levelling him is achievements/cosmetics.
I had the same experience with my level 60 Brann and have the same opinion as you. Brann is a worthless piece of garbage right now.

Idk why they thought adding an AI companion to something akin to Torghast, Visions, etc. was the way to go. I'd much rather Season 2 delves have no companion so they can actually tune these things with no companion in mind. Just make it so our characters vomit out potions every 15 seconds or w/e since that's all Brann is good for.
Brann is super annoying, he's always flying backwards into groups I didn't want to pull or muti shots and pulls way more than we can handle. I mean he's an accurate hunter player, but it doesn't make it any less annoying.

Delves were awesome & so was Brann during early access before actual release! Then they nerfed them with so many unnecessary changes that make no sense! Delves are DEAD to me until they are fixed if they ever are!!!

Delves aren't an inherently bad system, and I would argue they generally improve upon past systems like Torghast or Island Expeditions. That said, there are still many flaws that Blizzard needs to iron out, and Brann (or the NPC companion in general) is a big one.

First of all, if you are having over 15 toons at 80 and doing at least 2 bountiful delves weekly, getting him to 60 isn’t really an issue at all. I do think this is ONE of the ways to equip your newly 80 alts efficiently but I doubt it will be faster than doing dailies to get blood coins. If your toon is already out geared delves intended range - such as your toon is over 610 ilvl, then yes, a lvl 60 Brann is not making any difference than even at low 40. But I do think a very high lvl Brann (over 50+) does help when your newly 80 level toons especially in some sort of tank specs to run level 8 delves as I ran couple monks and Druid freshly reaching 80 and just bought all 561 greens from AH, I was able to complete the delve in this video roughly around 13-16 minutes of time, comparing to my Brann when he was around 20-30 level, I probably will need double the time spent.

It's fine. Delves are fast. He's geared to stupid high ilevel where delves are trivial content so of course he finds brans dps low but like he's doing delves in 10mins or less can he really complain? the far bigger issue is the lack of point to doing tier 9 10 11 delves as they have no rewards over 8.
The original thought of delves was good, then they nerfed the crap out of it.....geee sounds just like the blizz we know and remember

Though perhaps you could have done a better test by using brann to clear tier 8 delves on freshly levelled 80's with your max level brann and then making an account on another region to see if it is even possible or something a player would want to do with an un-levelled brann.

I have actively played every single WoW expansion. This is one of the most miserably long grinds I have done in a long time, and there's 0 player power locked behind it.

I'll never know because Delves are DEAD.. 2nd week after opening I was totally done, got it all, nothing left that I wanted. Not even the vault reward slot here, Maybe upen up higher levels if they want it to run longer.. It was a liberals pipe dream and we all know how well those go.. YUGE waste of time and effort.
there single player raids for the most part so you can get decent gear
