i just got the pattern for the Musselburgh hat a few weeks ago and I LOVE IT!!!, i just finished my first hat and am on my second already. I have plans for many more. First one was for hubby, second for me, and then my grandkids want some, and i want backup hats as well.
Ok, now I’m excited to knit the musselburgh hat. Thanks for the great video.
Hello! Do you think you could possibly do a tutorial for the cast on and increases used for this ever so popular beanie? Thank you! Love your review!
I'm currently starting my first Musselburgh Hat. I've had the pattern for awhile but just couldn't seem to find the yarn dye lot I was looking for until this week. I love that the pattern is custom to the person it's being made for. Ysolda is brilliant for using technology & calculations to tell us exactly how many stitches, rows etc. we need to achieve the exact size & shape we're looking for. Such a cool idea that I'm excited to get started on this weekend! ^_^
Looks so popular, where do I get pattern??
One of these days I will get around to knitting the Musselburgh hat...thanks for the review of the pattern.
I am knitting my third and already have plans for more. The pattern is totally addictive and living in the North East USA the quadruple fabric around the ears is definitely welcomed! 😊
@@knottedrealm It's definitely cooler in the PM/Early AM hours. I can't wait to wear them, even wore one around the house and hubby is like, "what are you DOING?" and I said trying on my post Apocalyptic knitwear. lol
You actually convinced me to make this hat. I couldn’t see what all the buzz was about but your mention of “quadruple thick around the ears” got my attention. Just what I need. Thanks!
I’m ready to start my second Musselburgh hat. I love it!
Well I bought the pattern and just ordered some needles so now I just need to find some yarn and then give it a go! Thanks for sharing this video!
Woop Woop! So excited for you!!
I loooove Six of Crows and Musselburgh hats!! What a perfect video! 😂❤ thank you for your project pages also, I was trying to figure out what size needles to use.
I have started this pattern four times….i am determined to finish at least one!
Starting my 1st one for the tenth time. The initial increases are messing with me brain using magic loop. Now that I am several increases in I can see it coming together. I am off a stitch one or two or 5 lol in my sections so once I get through that I will be glad to just get to the straight knitting part.
Still pretty new knitter who is easily distracted.
@@knottedrealm thanks for the encouragement. I bought music medly color way from candy shop yarns so yes I'm determined.
The pronunciation in Edinburgh is ‘Musselbur- ra not burg 🙋♀️
In America it's MUSSELBURGH.
Thanks for the alternate pronunciation in EDINBUR-RA❤
@@ShilohSapir the designer is Scottish so there's that
Hi Holly, thank you for your video. I have just bought the pattern and trying to work it out. I’m a beginner knitter so a little scared 😮 What weight did you use in the stroll yarn? 😊
I bought the pattern but I’m still struggling with it. Do you have a full tutorial on this pattern
Thanks a lot!
Happy knitting you are inspiring thanks for sharing g.
Aw thank you so much, Juanita!
I love to read fantasy/sci-fi but I haven’t read this series, definitely going to check it out! I usually try to check out audiobooks from my public library so I can listen to a book while knitting or crocheting 😂 I’ll even check out the physical copy, too, so I can switch back and forth. Weird? Maybe, but it works for me!
Me too for listening while I knit or crochet and getting a physical book too!!!
Yes, I have made one and want to make more.
I've just started the musselburgh hat. It took me several tries but thanks to you tube I finally got the pin cast on. Ugh! I felt like a octopus...awkward fingers. Heres my problem. How do you know how many and where to place stitch markers for the increase and decreasing. . The pattern is NOT clear.
quadruple is so hard to remember!!! Don’t worry 😉 your not alone!
I am having a hard time with the increases🙁
What size cord did you use? 16”? Getting ready to start one
Gorgeous yarns and hats. It does look like a boring knit though.
Yeah, it definitely is one of those projects that you can just sit down with and mindlessly knit on.
I am knitting one right now and am using a 100g skein. I am worried that the pattern says 470 yds and my yarn is 400 yds. Am I going to be ok? So far I love knitting this hat. I had multiple tries doing the cast on but have it down. Your hats are beautiful the knit looks so regular and even. Did you block them?
Can I ask a quick question? If I am making this musselburgh hat pattern and I foolishly removed my markers before finishing is there a way to reinsert them?? Thanks for any hints! Great job on your knitting! Mary
Hello again Holy...first..I really enjoy ur channel, and I started the sockhead hat that u generously took the time too find just a while back....I'm beyond thrilled as my good friend actually gifted the musselburgh hat pattern to me yesterday, and I am beside myself with joy!......I do however need a bit of advice...I am using 4 DPNS , 3 with stitches only, and one to work with.....I am early in the going but after a pattern repeat of 4 times....I'm finding the stitches are becoming a bit uncomfortable , squished on them, and seem to be a long way from circs...is this normal?....thank u
Fab, hats lovely colours. its not quite how you pronounce Musselburgh,it’s a place just outside Edinburgh,Scotland.
@@knottedrealmHi there, Musselburgh is pronounced the same way as you would pronounce Edinburgh. It’s the town where Ysolda lives. 😊
How many sets I’d you use for the middle tube part
Hello! 🤗 I'm not sure what you're asking. Could you clarify for me?
Oh lord....I feel really bad writing this but here goes......I am unable to get the actual pattern from the original designer.....I live in , Nova Scoria, Eastern Canada, where we are just recouping from Hurricane Fiona,..and my knitting has always been the be it,end all for me....so I knit by candlelight at night......lol...can u suggest a pattern that would be close to that one?...I'm in the hat faze right now and would love to knit one.....thank you for you time
@@knottedrealm thank you so much in responding, and so quickly!......that is a really nice one as well..addicted to hats and socks.....I have the yarn and needles and am ready to go to that pattern.....thank you for your kind words...we took quite a hit here, but as they say, it takes alot to keep us maritime down...hoping for power soon!.....thank u from the bottom of my heart for taking your time and finding that pattern.....🇨🇦
can you make a video tutorial on this?
What length cable do you use with the Chiaogoo 4" needles?
Hi! I used the 8 inch cable to make 16 inch circulars.
You need an extra coffee today😉
I am knitting my first, but I started knitting an adult large. When I realized it was going to be too big, I ripped back to the increases to go down to the adult medium. However, when I did that I forgot to save my stitch maker spots, and I am worried about how that is going to work out for the decreases. Is there a way to figure out where the stitch markers go, or should I just start all the way over?
I couldn't figure out st. Marker placement from the get go. It soesnt make sense to me, also. What is a section?
What was your gauge?
@@knottedrealm do you knit magic loop through out?
@@knottedrealm Thank you
