One of the greatest moments in my gaming career. Yea I had a suspicion something interesting was coming once I complete the puzzles and tasks. But I wasn't really expecting to ride along. Spent many hours on those tracks fixing and connecting them. Watching balls crash as I tried to sync it all up. Ooh what a reward! Visuals and sound just spot on. Why I love games. Moments like this.
I know. I remember the first time I played it and was ready to ride in the glass ball, and I was thinking to myself, "Oh, f***....oh, f***...did I get everything right?"
Best part of the game! I still remember hitting that button and then when I saw it move me up into the ball I thought "oh my god no way, I'm going to ride in this thing? SWEET!"
Brilliant puzzle where the puzzle IS the level design. Multiple parts of the level becoming one giant ride that you must take to solve it at the end. Truly brilliant!
man... this was my favourite age in any myst game just because it was so organized and logical and such a cool concept, but I still think Riven was the best overall game of all 5.
@TRYER25 Hello, I animated and lighted this at Presto Studios. It was a complete cheat to get it to feel like a roller coaster. There's no way the ball would maintain speed. It was a fun challenge to make it feel like the it was rolling because of gravity.. Chris
I don't know; it could have. The down parts certainly equal if not outnumber the up parts. Plus, you do start out at right around 100 feet up so I could see this working, sort of.
At the start of this sequence it took me a half a minute before I had the epiphany (if you could call it that for a CD-ROM game) that I would be riding on all the seemingly unconnected structures through the three puzzle areas of this level. One of the most amazing experiences from a game I have ever had. To be really obscure, it was a similar experience to what happened while reading Neal Stephenson's book Anathem, about 3/4 of the way through when a character reveals a major plot point.
@NoSoup4you From what I remember, Atrus built those Ages as training tools for Sirrus and Achenar. Saavedro changed the access codes as a way to punish Atrus.
It's interesting how the properties of water have changed so much throughout different Ages, from being anthropomorphic in Serenia to thermophobic in Riven to indestructible in Narayan to spontaneous in Amateria.
The Myst games were great, superb graphics and the games were really challenging. They also made you feel as if you were in another world. Shame they haven't made any games really like this for a while.
I hit spacebar to skip the animation thinking I'd accidentally pulled the lever to lower the platform instead of the switch to test the combo and ended up skipping this entire cinematic.
You are correct, but by "access codes" he meant that he had broken the most obvious solution to most of the puzzles, for example, a jammed piece in a control panel, several broken counterweight pieces, stuff like that. Also I think he was only planning on delaying him even though it was enjoyable for him, in the end he planned to make him fix his world or kill him.
hm...it seems that this rollercoaster proves to the player how every puzzle that they have solved is useful to get to the symbol...interesting. great work cyan
Yeah very true. Edanna (the plant one) was probably the middle for me, the end was a lot of going back and forth between plants. Still, the puzzles in Exile have NOTHING on the ones in Riven and Revelation
For all of you asking about this game here, I didn't make this trailer, but I found it, fan-made, and very well-done, representing the game nicely. There are spoilers in here, so if you want to play it, look at other Myst III: Exile trailers. /watch?v=Lh-xRgCgCqU&feature=plcp&context=C3b1be7fUDOEgsToPDskKnCuW2p6KUxweOIgaHqGh1
and @anonymousbl00dlust This IS real, this is the culmination of finishing all the puzzles the Ametera (I just misspelled it) And yes this is a 2001 game, Myst 3: Exile It is completely real, you should play the game, it's quite fun.
It depends, they ALL have different types of puzzles, for me, Amateria was the easiest of the base three, and Voltaic was the middle, and whatever the plant world one was was the hardest. For me, depends on what you are best at in puzzle solving.
Impressive cutscene and the puzzles in this age were pretty clever. But why the hell would any society build the marble puzzles in the first place? There's no reason for a lot of the things in Myst III to exist, like there were in the previous two games.
It was a school training age for Atrus' sons. Also he wasn't a master of the art, that is why his ages looked more CGI ish than true Dn'i master works.

This was pretty intense the first playthrough, considering you just spent the entire level watching those glass balls explode in each puzzle.
I know. I remember the first time I played it and was ready to ride in the glass ball, and I was thinking to myself, "Oh, f***....oh, f***...did I get everything right?"
That's ICE, not glass.
Excellent sound design on this too, something that doesn't often get mentioned.
One of the best Ages across the Myst series.
No wonder Atrus' sons turned out the way they did, he considered a possible death trap "training"!
life is an exercise in avoiding possible death traps. A1 parenting in my book.
Best part of the game! I still remember hitting that button and then when I saw it move me up into the ball I thought "oh my god no way, I'm going to ride in this thing? SWEET!"
Is it just me or is the part at 1:13 essentially you become the Cyan logo for a brief second?
ah it's not just me
Yep
Indeed
Brilliant puzzle where the puzzle IS the level design. Multiple parts of the level becoming one giant ride that you must take to solve it at the end. Truly brilliant!
The most amazing part about this is that THIS GAME IS ALMOST 11 YEARS OLD
Now almost 20 OMG
nowdays, we need a VR version of it!
man... this was my favourite age in any myst game just because it was so organized and logical and such a cool concept, but I still think Riven was the best overall game of all 5.
@TRYER25
Hello,

Fantastic sound design throughout the game but really this cinematic takes the cake.
top 10 video game moments of all time. I almost peed my pants when I beat this level. Such an incredible level.
Hell of a ride!!!!!!!! Loved it:)
Man, I wish this was real! Imagine how fun it’ll be to ride one of these! 🤩 🎢
The best thing ever.. when u finally puzzled the track together and got to try it out..
The most wonderful game of the world!
this reminds of the movie Robots transportation system
Thank you! I remember first getting to this Island and loving it. I loved this whole game.
my cat sat and watched this with me
Definitely a ride I would highly enjoy. Extremely inventive design. Thanks for sharing it.
Best payoff for an ama-a-a-zing level.
Looks amazing for something that was released in 2001

@ThatPhagg0t
It was done in 3ds Max v3.1
I don't think I'd ever be patient enough for this game to make it this far.
Amateria is the best Age in a Myst game ever. Seriously.
hm...it seems that this rollercoaster proves to the player how every puzzle that they have solved is useful to get to the symbol...interesting. great work cyan
best game ever
This was the best part of the game!!
i use to do this over and over just for this scene
by far the most rewarding part of the whole game lol
Well, since this is 5 days late, I'm pretty sure you've already figured out that was an amazing deal for an amazing game.
Yeah very true. Edanna (the plant one) was probably the middle for me, the end was a lot of going back and forth between plants. Still, the puzzles in Exile have NOTHING on the ones in Riven and Revelation
thank u so much i LOVE these games!
if that ride was real, i ride it, it looks so fun, something that really get rid of my boredness.
It's from the video game Myst 3: Exile.
Motion Sickness
WHAT HAPPENED TO VIDEO GAMES????
I wonder what you have to say about them now

i miss a loop
I just got to this part, so awesome :D
3D ??? as opposed to the 2D version?

Why is this not on a motion simulator right now?!
The graphics are pretty impressive for a 2001 game.
Ahh High-Def! Awesome!
of course much better in-game. wish to see it on better quality on youtube? type after your link &fmt=18
so [link]&fmt=18
@nic95 in the final world at the end of the game.
Please keep your hands and arms inside at all times until the ride comes to a full and complete stop.
Isn't just so Annoying that They constantly play that message at real Theme Parks?
got this game at a thrift store for $1.50 good deal or no?
amazing deal
Holy crap! For all the hours and money that went into the production of this game, that is completely insanely cheap.
also @anonymousbl00dlust
I just realized I mis-interpreted your statement, you meant real life.
I agree, if only :)
(oh, and sorry bout that)
Atrus built them to test his sons.
and thats how babies born...
if only this was REAL
agdq 2020
wot is this game
@aillae23 Amateria? Seriously? I got through this one no problem. It was Voltaic that was hard...
if this was a real coaster and i would come out i would vomit the whole floor lol
in real life i would of had rone this rollercoaster like 44 times 5/5
This is in amaterasu I think
