Great question! First, I would watch this video on littermate syndrome. The good thing is that the prevention is free and most of it is stuff you should be doing during training anyways. th-cam.com/video/z4ok69cdUA0/w-d-xo.html
Here is a video on walking two dogs at once. It will be helpful, but make sure they are doing well on their own first. th-cam.com/video/PE5O7EHqyGo/w-d-xo.html

How often should you train a puppy? We have a 4 month old and he is very good in the house. He doesn’t have any signs of food aggression. He knows sit, lay down, off, stay, and free. He walks with me on leash kind of good. But he’s very skiddish, any loud noises he runs and tries to hide. I tried to get him as comfortable as I can around the noises but our neighbor has a bike and if he revs it rocky(our puppy) spikes and tries to run. I feel terrible for trying to correct this because he’s scared, I want to go go more loose leash. How do I do this training in a loud busy area without overwhelming him?

That is a great question! We recently did a podcast episode on how to handle fear. It should help you out a lot! Here is a link to our Spotify page. open.spotify.com/show/0u4lIDhvmK17EBbp7VfXZ5
It is also on Apple Podcasts!

I think people should take their shoes and socks off and walk on the same surface they are asking their puppies to travel on. If they are always on grass or carpet soft soil etc and then you want them to be on gravel, hot concrete or asphalt or even on exposed aggregate concrete which is rough on my feet. And I can tell you a wood deck with a south west exposure is super hot on your feet and their paws. Especially if you have your dog groomed often and all the fur is trimmed from the pads. It’s the same in the winter, their feet get almost frost bit and they don’t want to go out. I know dogs have been on these surfaces for centuries but more and more they are on concrete, asphalt, exposed aggregate concrete and we are getting hotter and hotter in the cities, more and more our suburban areas have less grass - you’re walking them on sidewalk, or on the road itself when you get home and the heat has had all day to build in these surfaces not to mention cars on them all day in the hot sun. So get them boots or slip your foot out of your shoes and test the surface. Asphalt melts and becomes soft with the heat and can blister their naked paws. Some dogs have lots of hair, others like boxers, Dobermans, etc just don’t have much hair anywhere but certainly on the paws.
Take care of your pets like they were babies and consider their comfort. Our world is changing and getting more and more hard hot surfaces and the temps are becoming hotter. If you have your dog groomed often, ask the groomer to check and see if they see issues with their paws ie sores from fungal infections because their feet are often wet, etc. If they are okay, maybe you can ask them to trim their nails or have your vet to trim which is my preference. But ask them not to trim the hair on the bottom of the paws so they have a little protection.
Also a courtesy I will remind you, don’t walk or let your dog pull to someone’s grass. Mi get so pissed and have heard others say the same thing- we don’t want your dogs poop or pee in our yard. The same thing when people just throw beer, liquor bottles out in yard not their own. What happens is our children go out to play and they end up in your dogs poop or you or your grass cutters come to cut and end up either driving or walking in the poop and you can’t get rid of the smell. I’m working on getting a law passed where you get charged $50 initial charge and it goes up $50 so $100 for the second, $150 for the third and so on. And another terribly offensive thing is I keep my can clean so they don’t smell but then someone lets their dog pee and/or poop in my lawn or flower beds - oh they pick it up but my trash can is out waiting for the next days pickup and or I have gone to put more trash in the can and someone has put their dogs poop in the can and I’m forced to have that horrible odor for days. I would never do this to someone else with my dog. I would make sure my dog has relieved herself before going for a walk so they are comfortable and not trying to pull to a lawn to go to the bathroom. It’s not pleasant in the cities or tourist spots with lots of shopping areas, where dogs walk and poop right in front of a shop, even if you pick it up, the odor is there which will most likely cause the next dog particularly one intact to mark the territory.
Use common sense to your pet’s comfort, be kind, be respectful to other people’s property. If you do these things and don’t think you should be any different, you don’t need a dog.
