    The kids out in the yard with dad was probably the best part of this video! Adorable

    I'm in north Fort Worth and we've been very fortunate this spring! I haven't ran the irrigation yet either. Threw down a light coat of fertilizer with 5% iron Friday night, and we ended up getting just over 2" of rain spread out all day yesterday. The yard is looking great!

      I’m in McKinney but we went to Austin this weekend (still currently there). I hope it rained there just as much as it did here last night. Storms in Austin were crazy

    got 3/4" out by us in west NB in Rockwall Ranch :) MUCH needed rain! Also my only gripe with YM stuff is its a tad too big of a prill size, i like the small sizes of Andersons ferts, i hope YM can get them smaller

    Also, those rotary scissors are BADASS. I got them last week. Anyone here who is on the fence about getting them - do it.

      Would love to… but how do you set up the power to the rotary scissors?

      It's actually fairly simple and will fit most trimmers. I made a video over it a couple of seasons ago. The product ships with several adapters.

    You could probably limb up the maple in the front yard, over time those lower branches will shade out more than you would like. Plus, it will make it much easier to get under in in the long run.

    How long does the blades last on your rotary scissors doing the edging like that. I would think the dirt would wear them out. Tis my only hesitation on getting some myself.

    Would you recommend going full sand vs 50/50 top soil/sand mix when you soils is mostly clay? I plan on aerating soon here in Buda, but I’m not sure what ratio I should use when leveling my lawn. Thanks!

    The iron in fertilizers isn’t absorbed through granular. For lawns to absorb iron, it must be applied to the leaf tissue with a foliar spray. I’d suggest watching Dr. Travis Shaddox TH-cam channel Turfgrass Epistemology. He covers this Double Dark fertilizer in detail.

    • @LawnInsider
      @LawnInsider  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’ve seen that too! Apparently iron ore can’t be taken up in soils with a pH of 6+. We’ll see how it looks in a week or two, I haven’t added any liquids at all yet this year. Might just push growth with the N and not get any darker. Either way, I’m trying to use what I have in the garage haha.

    • @Mason-RRC
      @Mason-RRC 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LawnInsider yeah, I’m just using what I have left too and just going to use urea and liquid iron for color. I can get a 40 lb. bag of iron sulfate for less than $40 and use 3-5 oz per 1k in hot water and make it into a foliar spray.

    • @adamc1706
      @adamc1706 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LawnInsider so it’s something like chelated iron is the only granular iron that can actually have a response at an extremely high rate and astronomical cost, there’s a movement going on thelawnforum right now due to Dr Travis Shaddox explain the scientific research done behind turfgrass and trying to improve our critical thinking skills with epistemology (how do we know what we do know). It sucks we’ve gotten to this point where fertilizer companies are having to lie for marketing but it happens everywhere. If you could get double dark in store at $40 for a 50lb product then obviously it’s not a terrible purchase as you’ll still see a response from the nitrogen, but a lot of it is just marketing BS. If you think about it you go and apply a product that has all these humates, bio stimulants and so forth but it also includes nitrogen.. research shows 9/10 that the nitrogen caused that dark response. Although there’s nothing wrong with applying foliar iron as the plant will absorb it and uptake it in most cases
      Anyways, sorry for the long write-up, it’s very interesting to say the least!
