Man, I don't care who says what, this intro had me hooked from the first time I heard it, and this one of the shows I've ever seen where I like both both dubs and subs! Long live the crew of the soyokaze!
I love the symbolism of them following him along the tight rope at the end. It helps get across the point of "yes, he's the leader, but we keep him steady and grounded".
Actually, the English version of "Just Think of Tomorrow" is amazingly faithful to the original considering if you compare the opening of Ninja Senshi Tobikage "Love Survivor", to its dubbed version on a little show called Ninja Robots! It MUST be the undisputed kimg of badly adapted anime theme songs! ^;
Man, I wish they made a full version of this. The OST only has the Japanese and English-sung-by-Japanese version. The English dubbed versions were wonderful in their own right too.
Back in the mid-90;s a was at an anime convention where they were doing an AMV contest, and one of the entries was drawn from this show, but set to Crystal Gayle's Do You Believe In Magic? ("Mad is the Captain of Alpha Centauri; We must be out of our minds...") - what sold the AMV was the line in the song "poets and dreamers and clowns" which was matched to Lt. Cdr. Yamamoto, Yuriko Star, and the pilots and marines respectively.
This was probably the most unlikely anime I ever loved. It's so random but it's one of my top favourties. I watched it when I was 15 several times, and I'm going to watch it again!

just discovered this gem.... Best Anime Eve r!!! Heard a rumour they were doing a live action movie to finish the O.V.A Story Arc , anyone know if this is still on the cards cos that would be Awesome. it's shows like this that make me want to learn japanese.
it really sucks i cant find the whole 3 minute long version completely in english like it doesnt exist, if someone else can find it, please send me a reply

It might be an underrated show, but Irresponsible Captain Tylor will always be a 90's defining anime series.

its not random at all only to an extent which is what makes it so neat seeing when chaos an logic slap at each other

Also, love how they have the woman dancing in front of the space combat, to show that, in this show, the combat hardly matters.

They played it this year too in LA. It was worth the $40 ticket just to see s5 of the eps.

I do love this show and have a certain affinity for the intro despite the fact I always felt her singing was really bad.

I saw this long ago in an anime con. The English dub opening sucks but that's probably because I saw all the eps in Japanese.
