  • exhaust noise and smell from the exhaust crossover pipe flange to the intermediate pipe..rusted out bolts but they are hard to gain access to the area to heat up and drill or punch out the rotted bolts..the best and easier way is to use 2 split flanges and long bolts to sandwich the 2 pipes together to make the seal..Follow along..this also works for catalytic converters when the flange breaks or rots off too. Many thanks to this video creator, picked up the repair flanges at Auto zone, added longer bolts from my stash, and fixed connection in +/-40 mins. Love the location Chrysler decided to put this.

    Worked perfect. I spent a few hours over a few days trying to hammer and drill out the rusted bolts. PB Blaster did nothing. This was the answer. Thank you!

    Did you need to cut the old bolts down to seat the split flange. Great fix.

      If you noticed, I just turned the new clamps opposite of the factory rotted bolts. Besides the old ones can keep it aligned...

    Is it worth cutting the bolts down on the older flange or did yours hold up pretty well even on the side that you had the bolt sticking out?

    • @alyoungcuda
      @alyoungcuda  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dustinpatterson3826 no need to cut the old bolts but you can if you can get in there. I left them on since all that rust will rain down in you if you hit anything on those pipes,besides the split flange goes the opposite way and uses the old flange to help squeeze it up

    So, was there no gasket in between there originally, or did the gasket deteriorate? I think my car has a deteriorating gasket in between, So I don’t think I’ll be able to close up the gap when I tighten up the split flanges.

    • @alyoungcuda
      @alyoungcuda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no gasket..its a donut wedge type fitting and that's why the flange works because it duplicates the original squeezed look and feel..if you look at it, all it does is brings the Y pipe up into the other..almost Iike spooning it together

    Can you tell me what tools are needed for this?

    • @alyoungcuda
      @alyoungcuda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically you need 2 wrenches to tighten up the 2 bolts and nuts..if you need longer bolts and nuts then buy them and use the wrenches for those sizes because it might change..its because of different manufacturers on the bolts and nuts..and try to tighten them equally to draw it together straight.

  • @jonnypErKiNs

    What's size screw and nuts?

    • @alyoungcuda
      @alyoungcuda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anything that fits in those holes..3/8 or in metric...you can match the ones that come in the package, just get them longer..any hardware store, lowes, home depot or a tractor supply store

  • @michaelhernandez1241

    What size bolt did you buy?

    • @alyoungcuda
      @alyoungcuda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Longer nut and bolts than the ones that came with it..didn't matter if it was standard or metric..you can stay metric and use the nuts supplied..I had bought standards

      No air...they need to make an electric air hammer

      If you use a hand grinder, you can make the hole bigger..grind it almost to the rivets

  • @attackbike
    @attackbike ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you cut the bolt you can get the nut to pop out. See this TH-cam video on how: th-cam.com/video/2MXKCTRwM6I/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=VladimirSemenovich

      It could work if you have a lift like him so you can stand under it..when you have to work underneath laying down, you want to be in and out and no rust in your eyes...

    • @attackbike
      @attackbike ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alyoungcuda mine is a 2015 with a 4 inch lift and there is enough room as that’s what saved me today. You can actually do one at a time at the bottom so your wrench fits as it swivels and you underneath. Don’t get me wrong. Your method is good as well, but the other video worked for me and perhaps could help somebody as well as your video.
