    Love my NUX MG-300!! I think the coolest thing about it besides how awesome it sounds is instead of having master knobs or sliders for adjusting each effect settings they actually show each individual pedal and you adjust the settings the same way you would with a real pedal!!! I have a AmpliFire 12 and a FM3 both of these sound better and have way more adjustability especially the FM3 but I actually use the MG-300 a lot more, it's great for sitting on the couch watching a movie and noodling around BEST $150 bucks I've spent in long time!!!!

      Leo Gibson
      I'm not sure how your video translates to me watching this from a laptop and headphones, but man! Those are really some of the great tones I've heard coming from a digital effects!
      Of course the equipment you use, your guitar tone, and the dynamics of your playing (impeccable playing, btw😉) plays a huge part in the tonal dynamics to the final mix... but it is really not a 'bad box' right there. NUX have come a long way from their initial offerings. This makes for a really good and portable gear with a price for the masses.

    I've not listened to two of your shootouts using this unit against the Valeton and a JCM 800, and personally, I feel that the NuX MG-300 just sounds better...more 'real'. Most other digital pedalboards just sound too "digital" to my ears. Okay, I grew up playing through vintage Silvertone and Fender amps, but I'm no stuffed shirt when it comes to digital...especially for time-based effects. Thanks Leo...love your playing and your reviews.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr

      Hi Rebecca, you are welcome! Actually I have never own the GT 1, and I think it's a pretty old unit (it should have been released in 2016): since its release, amp modeling pedalboards has progressed a lot. Therefore I prefer newer amp modelers. But please take into consideration that I have never tried the Gt1...therefore I can not make an evaluation based on personal experience.

    I use a Boss GT2 as a practice device for 2 years now, and I can say that I would not trade it for anything in this price range except maybe this one. Boss has over 100 of their effects in GT1, but the amps in this are very convincing. And your playing really brings out the virtues of this unit.

    As we've come to expect, another excellent demo and review by Leo! How do you like the Expression Pedal - does it work well, feel solid? It looks like a good modeler at a very reasonable price point. I am very interested to hear a tone comparison to the HX Stomp. On the NUX page, it states "In 2010 NUX introduced TSAC (True Simulation fo Analog Circuit) with the sole intention of bringing Amp Modeling to a whole new level. The DSP industry has been evolving at breakneck speed, and keeping up can be a challenge. We were impressed that a product like the Fractal® AX-FX had the foresight to use a high-definition TSAC (white-box) algorithm to do its Amp Modeling. So we took note and started development on an affordable modeler with TSAC-HD." Thanks

    Thanks very much for this good review Leo. Now I understand why this little cheap box can sound so good and plays very dynamically !! I fully agree the focus on sound quality and dynamics is much more important than 100 amps and 1000 effects and 10.000 presets 😀 Rather 20 killersounds than a lot of unusable shit ( i bought a podgo which I send back because it had to be booted twice very often and it had many unsable presets and amps , though it had some very nich reverb and delay effects and other effects) I will buy the NUX and I have already a Zoom A1 Four acoustic which I will combine with the Nux and my Rivera Chubster 25 amp and save a lot of money compared to the PODGO. Very very convincing amp sounds from this box ❤️

    Hi Leo, great video!
    I am looking for a pedalboard for home practice. In your opinion, is it better to get an NUX MG-300 or to spend a little more and get a MOOER GE 200?

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alejando, thank you so much, your feedback and appreciation is really important for me!!!
      Well, actually this is a pretty hard question to answer. They both are great units for the price. I would just say that I love the profiling procedure of the Mooer, that allows us to make an amp profile with the GE Labs and to download profiles done by other guitarists from the Mooer web site. On the other had the NUX has some great amps, like the JCM 800 or the Deluxe reverb and a very nice computer interface... So, I would say that if you want to profile your amp or you like the idea of downloading profiles from the Mooer web site, let's go with the Mooer. If you like the NUX computer interface, you want a smaller and cheaper unit, but with some great amp sounds, lets go with the NUX.
      Thank you for your question!

    I'm sorry to bother you. I bought the Nux mg300, can I ask you something? I have a Vox AC 30, I tried disabling the NUX amplifier to use only the effects and plugging it into the input of the amplifier and it does not sound very good. Then plug it in for the return, activate the amplifier of the NUX and deactivate the screen and it sounded much better, what do you say, does it go that way? The question is whether or not I have to leave the amplifier of the NUX activated, thanks! Ahh when I did this I put it in the mode so that it comes out from behind the amp, thanks !!!

    • @LeoGibsonGtr
      @LeoGibsonGtr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, if you put the NUX in the fx return, you are basically using the NUX as a preamplifier. It is a way to do it, even if in the amp block of the NUX you can not disable the power amp. You can also use the NUX in the input of the amp, but you have to disable the amp and also the cab simulation.

    • @LeoGibsonGtr

      Hi, actually no. An amp is divided into two section, pre amp and power amp. For instance in a tube amp the preamp is where the 12ax valves are, and the power amp is where the 6l6 or EL34 valves are. I hope it helps

    Thank for yoru great review as always. What is the output on this that we are hearing? Direct from the pedal or line out from your amp/speaker or amp/speaker mic'ed to your recording software?
    Also, for such pedals, is it advisable to use this multi-fx unit along with the built-in effects of an amplispeaker combo like for example the Boss Katana? Or in on in that case it be better to just use the amplispeaker as a powered speaker and let all sound processing comes from the multi-fx? I currently have Zoom G1Xon and Blackstar ID Core V2 amplispeaker. I am thinking of upgrading to Mooer GE150 or NUX MG300 multi-fx pedals or forget about mutli-fx units and just buy Boss Katana mk-2 (not thinking much about live playing now!). Of course, both a new multi-fx pedal and Boss Katana would be ideal but that is over my current budget. Your views would be highly appreciated.
