Without any doubt, this channel is so underrated and yet one of the best youtube channels out there. Immensely enjoyed the video with coffee, snacks, beef jerky and some more coffee lol.
Time and time again, 10mm proves itself to be the best mm out there and this video clearly demonstrates that simple truth. Of course they're all deadly calibers as even 22LR kills, but hitting a charging bear with 10mm will ruin its day real fast.

Another great test, very enlightening. These rounds are designed to cause damage from the cavitation created by the cutouts in the sides of the bullet. Gel tests I've seen show some good size wound channels for these rounds, but the 10mm is, as you said, the King. The wound channels from the 10 are pretty impressive. These are deep penetrators, so you need to be very aware of your surroundings, especially innocent bystanders! Thanks again for your valuable efforts. Much appreciated!

Great video, congratulations! I am a police officer in Brazil and I always walk with my .40 s & w in the waist, here are few like the agencies of police of use to 9mm being more used by the departments of bureaucratic police, those that work more inside an office with papers, I know that at 9mm Your benefits but at the moment I would not change my .40 s & w by 9mm. Returning to the video I think it was missing 357 SIG for the comparison I consider an excellent goat.

      Maycon tudo bem?

Thank you for doing this detailed side-by-side comparison with the kind of stock, semi-automatic pistols that most of us actually own/carry.
May I make a suggestion? Throughout the video, you are scientifically rigorous (e.g. multiple chronographed shots out of similar barrel lengths), methodical (e.g. laying out each and every round and each and every firearm prior to testing), and your attention-to-detail is simply phenomenal (e.g. calculating the standard deviation , which I've never seen before out of hundreds of ballistics videos).
But then at the very end, you guesstimate penetration, which is by far the most imprecise part of this evaluation.
Perhaps it would be possible to repeat the study with a different bullet backstop?

I know it's 3 years later but just a tip- "du01" on the Caldwell means "1st duplicate", as in the velocity is the same as the previous round, because otherwise you wouldn't see the number change and think the shot didn't register. "du02" would mean the 3rd consecutive identical reading, etc.
Got one myself last year and had Xtreme Defender +P 65gr 9mm clocking at 1800fps out of my P320 carry length. I'd reckon squeezing every bit of velocity out is even more important with these fluted bullets

ACTUALLY NO! 22 CALIBER IS NOT SUFFICIENT ENOUGH TO STOP ANYONE! UNLESS? YOU SHOOT THEM CENTER IN THE HEAD! 22 CALIBER WOULD NEVER MAKE IT THROUGH CLOTHING, MUSCLE, BONE, AND INTO A BODY ORGAN FAST OR HARD ENOUGH TO MAKE THAT PERSON FULL OF ADRENALINE STOP BEFORE HURTING YOU OR SOMEONE YOU LOVE! ATLEAST A 38+P CALIBER. BUT FOR ALL THE EXPENSE OF THAT? YOU WOULD BE MUCH BETTER OFF WITH A GREAT 9mm HANDGUN LIKE THE GLOCK 45. WHICH IS A MAGICAL 9mm WITH A 17+1 STANDARD MAGAZINE CAPACITY!!!! AND ALSO, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SHOOT TO KILL ANYONE! YOU CAN VERY EFFECTIVELY STOP ANYONE WITH WELL PLACED SHOTS TO EITHER OR BOTH SHOULDERS!! THAT WILL SEVERELY DAMAGE THE ROTATOR CUFF AND DISABLE THE USE OF THEIR ARMS! ( NO ARMS? NO ATTACK! ) OR YOU CAN SHOOT DIRECT IN EITHER OR BOTH OF THE KNEES!! THIS WILL INSTANTLY DROP ANYONE! ( BUT THEY STILL MIGHT BE ABLE TO USE THEIR HANDS AND TRY TO USE A GUN ON YOU! MOST OF THE TIME THEY WOULD BE IN TOO MUCH PAIN TO TRY THOUGH, BUT YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF THAT JUST IN CASE ) OR, YOU CAN SHOOT EITHER OR BOTH SHINS WITH OR WITHOUT SHOOTING THE KNEES! AND THAT WILL ALSO DROP ANYONE INSTANTLY! *** NOTE!!! IF YOU SHOT THESE SHOTS TO THESE PLACES I AM TELLING YOU ABOUT WITH A 22 CALIBER BULLET? EVEN SEVERAL OF THOSE BULLETS TO THESE AREAS MIGHT NOT STOP THE ATTACKER! BUT ANY CALIBER OF 9mm OR ABOVE WILL! 38+p CALIBERS WILL TOO. BUT!! WITH THE 38 YOU HAVE TO GET A REVOLVER, WITH ONLY 6-7 ROUND CAPACITY!! AND THE PLUS P AMMO, AND FOR ALL THAT EXPENSE?? YOU WILL BE FAR BETTER SERVED AND PROTECTED, WITH A GLOCK 9mm! BUT YOU MUST PRACTICE ALSO!

The 45's performance was disappointing. I was hoping it would do better, if only to justify to myself, putting off the purchase of a new woods gun a bit longer. My wife's going to be saddling me with an Garmin Inreach mini, so the new handgun purchase is being put off a bit longer. A couple weeks ago though, a little fall into a river had me reflecting on what woods gun I'd actually be getting. I've always just assumed 10MM, however, my dumbass slipping, and falling into a river of spring runoff, and the ensuing magazine AND handgun cleaning afterwords, has me considering a revolver over an autoloader. Within 5 days, I already had rust starting to form on the magazine springs. I suppose I should have taken them apart the same day i took a seat in a river. Another thing with a revolver is no bullet set back. Hardcast ammo can be hard to come by, and It's like I'm slowly bleeding ammo due to bullet set back. Not a problem with a revolver, but the big con to a revolver is 6 shots and a slow ass reload.

Revolvers can jump crimp. Glocks are pretty good, as far as rust. Better than most. They are easy to completely disassemble and in a pinch you can just blast them with Ballistol, until you can get a more serious cleaning in. When training some military guys, Chuck Taylor purposely left his Glock on the bottom of the ocean and retrieved it 6 mos later, none worse for wear. All that, and revolvers still rust too, and they're harder too get to the inside.

Ammo makers do make different loads, which can vary in their usefulness for different applications, and 10mm is no different in that regard. Defensive loads tend to be optimized for short-to-mid sized barrels, while hunting loads tend to be optimized for standard-to-long barrels. Some loads burn fast in short barrels without receiving much or even any benefit from long barrels, which indicates the powder burned fast and there's not enough powder charge to keep accelerating the projectile down the entire length of the long barrels. Other loads give off huge flashes as the bullet leaves the muzzle, and show significantly faster velocities from long barrels, indicating that there was still unburnt powder being wasted when the bullet left the short barrel.

Id rather see different grain weight being compared in each caliber. Your comparable testing isnt a fair match up. Each manufacturer produces a caliber or version of an existing caliber for use within it's DESIGN PERAMITERS, not designed with your testing in mind, in fact they don'tever compare differentcalibers for testing. If the big boys don't consider comparison testing then I cant see the benefit of your results.
I can look up any ballistics data for any round and compare, but its pointless. You aren't carrying two different calibers EDC!!! so you wont ever have to consider, which gun to pull out based on the level of threat. I appreciate the video and seeing the difference between each design. That is cool, thanks.
Point here.... 1st. please dont say Vs. Because they aren't equal or comparable. Apples for apples not bananas. 2nd; .45 is 960fps design because it was used as a subsonic weapon. "Hush puppy " was a common name for the .45 acp. 10mm is a supersonic round, you can't compare just on those bases alone. Please compare like for like our of different guns side by side, thats cool info to make a video about, its usuful to see how each different 9mm handles the same round, etc...

Underwood ammo is what I order for full balls to the wall 10mm load. I got a plethora of Underwood offerings. 100% reliable and kicks like a mule. If I'm buying off the shelf ammo offerings I get Sig elite performance ammo and if I want a bulk ammo for snowflakes to shoot and say holy shit then load up some Underwood afterwards to show them what real 10mm feels like and hurt they pride I get American eagle. If you want the weakest than buy some PPU.

Sig is my fav ammo I can go to big 5 sporting goods and buy a hour away bit they only got like two boxes at a time. Sig elete jhp in 20 round box and 1 box of Sig fmj in 50 round box at a time. 10mm is so rare in New Mexico I actually payed $45 for a box of 50 rounds of PPU here and $50 for a box of American eagle. I'm probably the only person shooting 10mm here. My pawn shop/forearms dealer has to go to gun shows and shit almost 2 hours away to pick up one box of ammo of me and I pay a premium. But if I had a 9mm I could go to my local Walmart and buy a bulk 250 round box for cheaper. I guess you gotta pay to play.

@@AlaskanBallistics actually for felt recoil I was surprised it kicked pretty good bit I'm told the Xdm 10mm has a really weak recoil spring. I actually have two Wolfe springs in 20# and 22# installed so it doesn't beat the shit out the slide. Shooting Underwood with factory spring after 200 or more rounds of even weakloads starts to beatthe shit out hands.

@@AlaskanBallistics my Xdm has cycled anything I feed it when it was stock bit haven't tested with the upgrades. But like I said people claim the Xdm 10mm I under sprung so that's maybe why but with a 22# spring she tight biatch now so haven't tested with weak ammo since. I ordered like $600 worth of Underwood ammo so she eats the hot stuff now. Haven't broke in the new springs yet though. Be a cool test. Every Glock I seen with mods runs like garbage but so far this spring filed has been 100% with any upgrades I done to it . I did have a slight issues when I got it stock and it was my slide would not lock back when empty but I'm almost positive it was me. I think with my combatw grip I was riding the slide stop and with recoil my hand was hitting it and releasing the slide. I tried to duplicate it but shooting limp wristed on purpose just dangling shooting all gangster style and it didn't do it. I couldn't make it do a failure to feed or ejection or stove pipe when I tried. Lol.
