www.hunterworks.com This video is about how to remove and replace the primary clutch on the 850/1000 Can Am outlander, renegade, og mavericks and some commanders
Very clear and helpful instructions. I used impact wrench without any issues…made the job easy. I have a Gen 1 Outlander 800 and noticed in my owners manual the torque for the primary clutch bolt is 74lbf*ft…the video mentioned 89 which is too much for the G1.
The 89 is for the model in the video and while i am a impact guy I never use it on a can am, you got one shot to get this right, if it turns on the shaft it will rarely hold again
maybe but a good way to ruin a clutch. A bolt and rod maybe, but the rods bend and screw the crank up. Order the puller from us, you will have a USA made one in two days
@@Hunterworks I was told I needed the right size for my bike or do all work this is my first time working on one I need to take them off and give my primary and one way bearing a good cleaning maybe even my secondary
@@crazylifeofme6465 I guess a belt change tool and a torquing tool you don’t need a clutch puller unless you’re taking the back half of the primary off but if you’re gonna take it off, then all three they can be found on our outlander page on the website
@@Hunterworks outlander 450 2016 it’s turned out ok in the end I got the snapped threads out and a new bolt for £15 and a valuable lesson learned, I was trying to change bendex
The primary (front one) is reverse thread on the 2005 Can Am Outlander. I found that out the hard way, by having it cranked on till it broke. It then came out with my finger, when turning reverse.@@Hunterworks
@@Hunterworks I have say with my 22 outlander 450 I to thought it was right hand thread on the primary and snapped it! Very helpful and clear video!
I was taught to use a ratchet strap to hold the clutches, using a breaker bar.
It works great.

Watch a couple of your video’s , must say some of the best I have seen great info 👍👍👍
I really appreciate that
Would you suggest putting blue loctite on the primary as you did for the secondary? I would love to get a belt if you made them for the 450!
I do not but it can't hurt but only blue
Perfect video 🙏
Did I miss something, I don’t recall you showing how to put the 2 little spring back under the bearing assembly
You didn't, looks like I didn't do it but we have a video about the bearing too. th-cam.com/video/UdhViGedAtE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uUaOVmP23LYiCS94
Do you know if on 2022 570 xmr if bolt is reversed threaded or normal? And the torque specs?
Unfortunately, I do not know either. I’m sorry.
If you have a 2022 outlander 450 the primary has left hand threads.
Hi, I have an older model, a 2006, i've taken the primary clutch bolt out, but the assembly did not spring out, how can I pull it out ?
The outside half is suppose to come off like this one
@@Hunterworks That's what I've tought, i'll just hammer it down with a rubber mallet and see what happens
@@TheGraneable I have a 19 commander and had to give it a little love tap and it popped right off

Is that bolt on the primary an upgrade. Mine is a 2021 1000 xtp max and has that torque to yield fastener.

Where can I found that clutch puller

Pretty sure I’ll have to look at parts diagram to be sure
Ok thanks 👍
This video just cost me a days work 😂 the bolt on mine was threaded the opposite way so snapped it with impact gun 😂 are the bolts expensive
