I can't believe I missed this for 2 days!!!

It looks great, you both must be feeling quite proud 😊
If Ziggy wants to get the keel shaped easily, look up "guide coat" online. Basically you'd use an epoxy filler coat, sprayable is better, usually that is a light tan color, then get a spray can of flat black acrylic paint, make sure it's acrylic not an oil based gloss otherwise it will clag up your sand paper.
After you apply the filler coat, do a very light spray over with the black spray paint, just a mist over so it looks kinda cloudy.
Then when you sand it, use straight sanding blocks or rectangle based orbital sanders. You will see the low spots because they will stay black whereas the high spots will be the light tan color of the epoxy filler.
It's a handy guide as you're sanding.

In terms of the guide coat, you are absolutely right it is helpful, we used it before but it was in the form of a black powder from Mirka. Ziggy used it a couple of times and he still wasn’t 100% satisfied as he was aiming for absolute perfection 😅 But I was there and I finally managed to convince him it is good enough and it’s time to paint! 😁

Great milestone! I can feel Ziggy's internal conflict trying to define "good enough". Perfection is the enemy of production. I wrestle with that one myself

You are absolutely right, she looks so different with that primer. And these tasks are ones you aimed for from day 1, so now it is pretty much a step forward at every turn. Slight missteps will probably still happen, that's the nature of the beast. But I am so happy and glad you are seeing real results at long last. 🎉❤

Yes, we are back to where we were before we came across this whole business with the keel sump tank. Fingers crossed we will have less and less of those missteps going forward. Like you said, we are bound to have some but let’s hope they are minor 🤞

Squalo is looking like a boat now! Ziggy must be so happy to have the primer on the keel. Squalo seems to have a very big freeboard, or is it my imagination? Love the aft portlights!.

Well, the boat is still there, we had few good projects at work we couldn’t turn down, so we took a step back from boat project during that time, we just couldn’t possibly do both at the same time. We are planning on returning to Fambridge shortly, we have the funds to carry on refitting Squalo and that’s what matters most. We feel bad we are on and off this project and cannot be there 100% of our time, but hey, that’s the reality of life.
