I love doing projects using material I just had laying around. Everything is looking great!

Thank you! Definitely an advantage of having a sawmill - lots of "extra" lumber around! 😊

Greg, it was nice to see you smile as you were talking about working under the new tin roof and using the new concert walkway. That is a smile of satisfaction. The slab rack (cradle) sure looks great and will help you make firewood from the mill cutoff slabs. Besides, it will help you keep the sawmill area nice and tidy. A tidy area is a safer area. Greg, continued blessings to you as you come down the home stretch on completing the mill building project. Keep smiling!!!

Thank you, Bill! It will be a dream to have the barn up and semi-functional. Definitely puts a smile on my face! 😊

Thanks, Tim! Trying to get things organized and prepared for the "big dance"! It definitely seems like there's always more to add to the "someday" list, right?!

How much firewood (cords) do you think this slab rack can hold? Greg will share the answer in our next video! Hope you enjoy!

Nice project. The concrete and the cover will make using the sawmill a lot nicer this winter. I don't know if you would ever want to use the sawmill when it isn't light outside, but a small 12 volt solar panel, 12v battery and some led lights would provide some light when the days are short this winter. Just an idea for you to consider

Thank you, Mike! I hope to bring power, gas and water to the build site this Fall - so lights are in the plans. 👍

@@ourdreaminthewoods Having those things at the site will make life out there a lot nicer. Having power to run tools and lights is so much better than depending on batteries and hand tools. Being able to wash up, even with cold water is great. I had a place where I used a 5 gallon jug with a hole in the lid to be able to wash up. Left it sit in the sun to warm up. Really makes you appreciate things that we normally take for granted.
      Good luck with your project.

@@mikewatson4644 Greg’s a little more spoiled than that because we rent my sister’s house right next to the property. So, he comes in for warm lunches and restroom breaks. And, extra time with Bo! But, having extras right at the building site will be nice and we will definitely appreciate it!

I think it will hold 1.5 cords of firewood

Funny that your video come up right after I have finish my wood slab rack ;) did mine with metal tubing, since I'm not a welder it was nice oportunity to pratice, mine is pretty different than all the other I have watch before, since I was tire to bend over to pick up slab on the ground, I made sure with my rack I won't do that. If you want, I can send you photo of it ... I like you channel and curious to see more of it.

Hi, Vincent, I would love to see what you came up with. I’m more of a wood guy vs metal, but someday I’ll have to learn more about it. Send us a picture to our email when you have time: ourdreaminthewoods@gmail.com
Best thing about the slab rack is my back not aching with the chainsaw in front of you vs down below working off the ground. Thanks for watching! 😄

well one cord is 4x4x8 so ya it might hold a cord of wood

Ya not many people have 500+ dollars of wood just laying around to make that contraption to cut up big bundles of wood. I use a couple of sawbucks I made out of 2" x 4"s so I can cut up a few pieces at a time, for us normal people.

Glad you found something that works for you. We are milling the wood for our home that we are building, so we do have extra sometimes. Instead of wasting it, I like to create something useful. This was one of those things. 😁

Must be nice to not need to wear PPE when you're working with the tools.
