We psychokientically inform our brain of our will determining the motion of our bodies. 325 to 225 was psychokinesis, and then 225 to 258, psychokinesis, and then 258 lbs. to 197.5 lbs., again, psychokinesis. There’s certainly stuff the show did that I could forgive, like the scale being a prop. no shit, I think that was obvious from day one (though tbh I used to want a home version of it XD). Plus the “week not being a week” isn’t /that/ egregious. I mean it’s tv, shooting schedules are rough and not always consistent, so what do you expect?
    Everything else, tho? That’s shit I can’t forgive. I weep for the people that have been totally fucked over thanks to participating on this show, and every single person that helped make it what it is should be ashamed.

    This video seems like it's meant to be confirmation bias for people who want to hate on the show. I totally agree that some of what this video said is unhealthy and should not be done, but the biggest failing of the show seems to be not integrating therapy (or at least enough therapy) for the food addiction. That said, the people who lose the weight on the show and keep the weight off are so much healthier than they started out and have added several years to their lives.

      In order for the show to be a "success", drastic results were needed in a very short amount of time. There is no way any of the contestants went about their weight loss in a healthy manner. Yes, agreed that they could all afford to lose 100+ pounds and be better off for it, but doing so in a matter of less than 3 months puts such enormous, unhealthy amounts of stress and strain on the human body. Far better to stretch out the loss over a much longer period of time, such as a year or more. But, television cannot afford to wait that long, thus production turns to extreme and unhealthy methods to lose the weight quicker. Agreed that the show is lucky that the worst outcome was peeing blood and not a fatality.

  • @1toshi32

    I knew it was fake because of how much people were supposed to have dropped in 1 week. There was no way someone could lose (Australian biggest loser anyway) 7.9 kg (17 pounds) in one week if even if they were madly exercising and following a strict regime in their diet unless they were starving themselves every day. I still found it really motivating that they could go through those rigorous exercises. They looked like they really worked hard.
    They did have a series where it was with families and I remember seeing the mother of the family at our local supermarket with a huge trolley loaded with food so the biggest loser is not a lifestyle change that people can be consistent with. Just not a realistic way to live.

    • @TheOneanjel
      @TheOneanjel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Intermittent Fasting causes extreme fatigue. Plus, to lose weight consistently, you have to eat enough calories so the body doesn't go into a plateau. If your body thinks you're not finding enough food sources, it stops spending calories in case you're experiencing famine.

    • @TheOneanjel
      @TheOneanjel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Genin99 The calories were correct for their goals and were not the most severe. Most people I know do less than 1000 cals per day; the contestants were told to stick to either 1300 or 1500 a day cals. Those that went under did it against the advice of the trainers -- and paid the price on the scale -- you're body will shut down and stop spending cals if it thinks you're starving.

    I wonder if the way they used to do shit is any reflection on the new show. They seem to have great relationships with the contestants and everyone is a family so I can’t even imagine they do all this shit now.

    This is tragic. Weight loss should be realistic, gradual and of course sensible. What they're doing, if these are true are quite dangerous and ridiculous. We should learn from the French and from people who have lived many, many decades ago. It's okay to eat, but we must do everything in moderation. Walking, doing household chores and other domestic errands, cycling and gardening ( if everybody has a garden or at least a couple of plants, soil and pots in their houses) are completely fine as physical activities to lose weight.

    The contestants complaining about the slower metabolism are simply not eating for their specific metabolism. I've studied nutrition for decades and the fact is, once you've gone to a healthier lifestyle YOUR OWN BODY will reject bad foods and you will gain faster and feel worse. It's not the show's fault

    otherwise we wouldn't have had to make it! and to create it! and think about it! that also means that god does not exist!

    I would just like to share my personal experience weather u agree with me or not. I have never been over weight until I became a mother of 3, I have always gained weight during my pregnancy and determined to lose weight fast I was working out 4 to 6 hours a day and I used some of Jillian michaels workout videos as well, I was able to achieve my weight goal. U may think losing weight too fast is not healthy for u and u can find it hard to keep the weight off, well research shows that's not true, it is perfectly fine to lose weight fast as long as u maintain a healthy diet. I have kept the weight off for a long time and have decreased the amount of exercises I do.

    • @sakhilepadi3501
      @sakhilepadi3501 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's different. Pregnancy weight gain is mostly water and the actual pregnancy.The sooner you train after pregnancy the sooner you get your body back if you were at a good weight before pregnancy. Also your hormones go back to pre pregnancy state. It's different to gaining weight over 10 years and losing it all in 5 months.

    I once lost 60lbs in 4 months and I had only a fitness trainer/advisor at my gym for a couple of weeks, who was not really professionally trained. They all told me it's 80% diet (eating right and counting calories, not starving) & 20% fitness. I ate around 900 cals per day doing 3 meals a day (Oats and apple in the a.m.; raisins and lunch meat in the afternoon; chicken breast, broiled, small potato and frozen veggies for dinner. I did not take any drugs or supplements and didn't smoke. I prayed a lot, and drank Monster drinks a couple times a day. Back then they only had around 60mg caffeine. If I had to train someone to lose weight now, I would do all raw-vegan whole-food plant-based, which is what I advocate now. I later dropped 45lbs in 2.5 months eating just whole raw fruits.

    • @politereminder6284
      @politereminder6284 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds really unhealthy . If you are eating 900 cals, your.body had to drop it's metabolism to sustain itself. I'm pretty sure you have some negative side effects from that. You may not have noticed, but that's not healthy. And it's not sustainable.
      Saying the biggest loser was a bad and unhealthy show, doesn't mean we don't want people to lose weight. But there are healthier and more sustainable ways to do it. 900 cals is not healthy for an adult, unless you are like, 2 feet tall.

    6-8 hours a day is basically what i did in college sports perfectly reasonable for people to do that. Hell even in grad school i had 1 full year where i would do morning 2 hours of beach volleyball training and then another 3 or 4 afterwards for fun with the bois.

I have friends that go to the gym and we talk in the sauna and in between sets. Personally, the gym or sports, makes me feel amazing and when i miss a few days i feel like shit. The show is supposed to be brutal. Losing that huge amount of weight is not easy! I imagine there would be a lot of health problems and injuries that they don't talk about unless they are obvious.
    I don't think it's the show's fault that some people gain all the weight they lost after they leave the show. They discuss keeping a healthy lifestyle after the show frequently and do their best to prepare them for the "real" world.
