The Grateful Dead’s final version of the system, standing roughly 98 feet across and 36 feet high, traveled in four semis and required 21 people and an entire day to load-in. A total of 586 JBL 15-, 12- and 5-inch speakers and 54 Electro-Voice tweeters were housed in Hard Trucker-style birch plywood cabinets, all powered by 48 McIntosh MC-2300 amplifiers for a total of 28,800 watts.

It seems that JBL has changed the use of the name Syntheses. It was used for their top of the line two channel speakers such as the Project Everest DD67000 and K2 speakers, but now Syntheses is used for their home theater speakers and electronics. And yes, they are and probably always will be considered JBL. I have a pair of JBL 4365 studio monitors and one day I'll find a pair of used Everest DD67000 the ultimate JBL speaker. Used because new they sell for around $70,000 a pair.

Wow, this ain't your daddy's JBL. Happy to see them back in the game. (Though, I have to say I'm really tired of the hackneyed "re-imagine" term)

Ive just watched a youtube review on these where the reviewer said they didnt sound good. I will be looking for other reviews and opinions. amazes me that people on youtube know more about speakers than a company that has made them for decades. what can i say. now ive just seen a second review and again, didnt like the jbls. why did jbl bother if youtube people can pick them apart.

Yeah, yeah, the real reason he is glowing about JBL is because they have great donuts and coffee at their booths at audio expos *lol*
Seriously i hope jbl is back and it isnt where they were bought by some chinese company using the name. They made decent speakers at a good price.
