Really enjoyed this video guys. It was a real snapshot of what it's like sailing the Med and dealing with the day to day issues that arise. It's not always beer and skittles and that showed through nicely. The docking issues, rough passages, attempted ripoffs, getting your anchor chain crossed by a numbie balanced against the sublime anchorages, nice sailing and new places to explore. If I had to show somebody new to cruising a snapshot of the realities of sailing in the Med, this video would be it!!

That was like an umbilical separation from the mid-phase. Back in the groove again! Good control...from lullaby seas to rocking all night. You all definitely are making it fun!
At 08:04 is the 110ft catamaran "Swift" formerly the maxi racer "Gitana XIII" or "Kingfisher 2" converted to a fast cruiser. She holds the record for Hong kong - London in 41 days, 21 hours and 26 mins and crossing the North Pacific from San Francisco to Yokohama in 11 days, 12 hours and 55 mins to name but a few. A bit of healthy competition for Riley to sharpen his teeth :-) love your videos, thanks for sharing. Sail safe!

You've given me a new addiction ... researching liveaboard catamarans: Fountaine Pajot (bit out of my price range), Prout Snowgoose (closer to my price range), Lagoon, and PDQ36 are on my list (Outremer would be on my list if I could afford a $450,000 yacht ... but alas). I have two questions for you ... one is a request. Questions: Would you ever consider meeting up with other people who have their own boats and sail with them in an armada of fun? Admiral Riley! Request: Would you ever be willing to put together a map of all the places you've visited in SLV1 and SLV2 and reference the videos associated with those locations? Can't speak for everyone, but I do plan to follow your footsteps some day and check out many of the beautiful locations that you've stumbled upon. Look at the video again. See the old bearded gent working on his rigging on a Vindoo. That’s a blue water boat you can sail anywhere and a true bargain. You don’t need to have a catamaran. Plenty of boats at affordable prices. You just have to read the proper books.
Just buy a boat in Europe. Cheap boats. No need to spend crazy amount of money, like 300k+ on a boat. It's not needed. Sure if you have the money to throw around it's fine. But at the end of the day, you don't need some fancy boat. It's what you can live with.
Yeah, you're right ... but I like my physical living space to be a bit larger than a monohull can provide. However, and a lot like Captain Riley and First Mate Elayna, I may have to start small and work my way up.
Yachtworld.com. Just found a Tartan 34C for 9K in great shape with a Yanmar engine, just add parachute anchor, larger ground tackle, charts, binoculars with compass and a self steering vein. Read Lin and Larry Pardies books from the library. Try the Hiscocks also. They all went in the 60's when there was no one and no help. Try older Cruisingworld Magazines. People have been doing this forever and for less that 10000 a year for supplies and sundries. I had a friend who used to weave palm hats for money in every port. he used to sew for other cruisers also. A HVAC degree is priceless in a third world country.
Smart move heading off the anchor problem Elayna. I am not getting those people who don't know how to anchor or what scope to set. Even without a shift in wind, the anchors would have easily fouled if the lengths of the anchor line were different, or as different hulls respond differently to wind, and as different keels respond differently to tides and currents. I've tried to use an anchor bouy to let people see where my anchor line is. Certainly would have been hard to untangle in a blow as your hulls were mashing, and the masts were crashing, in the middle of the night.
Ahhh!!! Again, you pull it off like pro's. I feel myself stressed a little on this one but your guests are sailors and they can handle it and it all works out. Looks like more Patrons are coming aboard...GREAT!!!Very prudent to check that anchor Elayna, you may have saved two boats. Nice camera work all around.
That coral gets screwed up from some chemicals in the suntan lotions. The spray stuff is the worst. Great video and good to see Elayna diving and having fun. Looks like you are comfortable on the new boat. It is becoming part of you like the old Vega.

It looks like a stylized "OM' symbol that is similar to the Tantric version of the OM symbol which denotes the divine being within rather than outside the physical body. They're from MONTANA? Wow! Thats about the furthest from ocean sailing! I have property there and have spent time there. Its cows, horses and big skies! No sailboats! But, glad they made the trip!

Where do you find the music you play on the videos? It is always unique but really easy to listen to and somehow relevant, for me it makes the difference between "another video" and a good video!
Guess what guys?! We are starting our own new adventure and bought a 1984 motorhome! Kind of like a boat but you can get parking tickets :) thanks for promoting an alternative lifestyle and for encouraging others to do the same!

Agreed Steve (Capt from CA USA). As for sailing, I am too old and well, kind of ill to ever ride the waves again but hey, I have a lifetime of sailing memories and some awesome videos too. Just wish I could find the darn things :-)
Very nice! It doesn't take long to figure out how your boat reacts when docking or anything else you ask Vagabonde to do. The pink beach thing just shows how, even in a remote area, humans affect the environment. I got a kick out of the guy on the "sailboard" (is that what it is called?). I've been watching for a while now and look forward to your videos. BTW you need to get Daniel a partner. 😎😎😎
