Great video!! We always enjoy seeing La Vaga. You can't imagine how much more meaningful it is now that we have had the chance to go aboard La Vagabonde and spend some time with Riley and Elayna. We had watched them from the beginning and when we found out about Patreon,we were eager to become Patrons. We don't pay for traditional cable. We pretty much only do TH-cam and Netflix. So we basically pay for the content we want to watch. So it was a no brainer to support La Vagabonde on Patreon. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that we would be chosen to come aboard and meet our sailing heroes. But in retrospect, we have calculated that the odds are pretty good. We would encourage everyone to become a Patron. You never know. You, too, could one day be aboard La Vagabonde meeting Riley and Elayna. And we want to assure you they are even better in person than on the videos. They are charming, sincere, intelligent, and great fun to be around.
It was important to me to share our experience with all of your fans so they can know the opportunities out there by becoming Patrons. You two have fueled our passion for sailing and we pursued our dream even more vigorously because of your engaging videos. You better watch out!!! Maybe we will start our own channel. LOL.
Sounds great, I could afford being a patreon, but I cannot afford to take my time off work or the cost of travel. I will be a patreon though for the same reason hulu, youtube, and netflix.
I just love Riley’s reactionair to the damage: “Looking forward to repairing it.” No drama’s, no complaining. You are an inspiration mate. The drone shots are amazing! Wishing you fair winds and save sailing!
Quasi devastated. I discovered your channel about a month ago. I owned a sailboat 20ish years ago and sailed the leeward islands a good bit at that time and got really hooked. Haven't sailed since because life moves on, kids, new adventures, etc - but still miss the ocean a lot. So in the last month, I've been watching back to back episodes. Bingeing as they say. Tonight I was yelling at my Google speaker to play episode 147 and it wouldn't do it. Now I know why. Thanks for showing me the world and, even better, those evenings and mornings, with wine or coffee, when there's nothing to see but endless ocean and the horizon. Nothing beats that. Now, go eat some bad food so you get a little body fat like the rest of us. Good God!
Mathieu is a legend... I wish there was more footage of him. Great camera work and brilliant questions at exactly the right time really captured the dilemma of a broken rig...
Mathieu is so cool! Amazing he flew all the way to spend time with you guys! Outremer Rocks!!! Obviously a company that really cares about what they do! Tough break on the boom but surely it was a freak happening. Glad to know it can be fixed ok. When I get the money that's the boat for me. Might have to wait a bit longer. LOL. It's just so Awesome!
Wish there was a love button, come on TH-cam give us a love button to use ❤️. Perfect way to spend a afternoon laying in a bath watching another brilliant video from you guys, after a my birthday lunch with my wife before going to the pub for drinks with Friends. Much love from Lacock England 🇬🇧
Thanks for posting. Really enjoyed seeing you with Mathieu, and the beaching of la Vagabonde. Really nice to see, especially Riley pushing her away from the beach.
No worries Elayna.... Goosenecks are notoriously under built and its the first thing I replace on a boat. This is advice from the marine architect who taught me how to sail as a child. Another great vidio.
Great video guys, with some awesome teaching points! Love how “Mat-chu” taught you not to be so fearful putting her on the beach! Broken single points of failure! Lesson learned there is to have parts on board for darn near everything! I would’ve ordered two of those goose necks one in reserve. Extra belts, hoses, water pumps, bilge pumps, etc. I know you have extra filters and such, but things like a sail sewing machine, might seem like an extravagance but cheaper then having sails fixed at a high price sail loft on an island, let alone finding a sail maker that can do the work in remote places. Plus they make them small and lighter weight now. Get a lesson on sail repair, get a lesson on field expedient hull repair where you actually repair a hull with bung plugs and patching. Just some food for thought! Capt Chuck Out!
I usually stay away from big channels and cat channels but I'm hooked. The way you treat each other is what did it. I detected no underlying anger when the boom broke. Real love, that's what I saw. That's what hooked me. You guys are the real deal.
Elayna, your vulnerability on the camera is incredible. Riley, your easygoing adaptability is inspiring. some good laughs in this one as well as stunning drone shots! the Caribbean blue speaks to my soul, thank you for sharing.
I've been saying thank you for 4 years now for all you do to share your lives with us. I wish I had better words to tell you how much I have loved the adventure. Thank you will have to do for now.
Ben a fan of the channel since discovering it via a voice assisted search (that went wrong), I wont mention what the original intention was, PM me its seriously wrong!! The family and I, 3 kids and partner have watched all episodes in the last 2 months. What a life, what people, its strange that we actually feel we know you... I did a bit a sailing many years ago, still spend much of my time in the sea, kayaking, kitesurfing etc, but we are planning a family boat holiday next year!! Thanks for inspiring 2/6/9 year old kids, oh and a happy dad!!!
I just wanted to thank you for being so cool and down to earth when I saw you here in Miami, thanks for the pic and my hubby was jealous for not meeting you.. 🙂 bless you guys...
Another masterpiece of editing and filming. For so many of us, it just makes Monday a day to look forward to. God bless Elayna for being so photogenically beautiful. You both make an astoundingly pleasing impression. The boom can be fixed fairly easily. Thank goodness it didn't hit your head. I had a boom vang toss me 30 feet overboard during a jibe around a mark in San Diego Bay during a race. I thought I was low enough but the vang just barely caught my shoulder. Very embarrassing as we were leading the race. So don't worry Elayna, sometimes it's just karma. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger as they say.
Hi lovey‘s! That was a great video! I’m sorry about the boom, but it was a good lesson. And Riley did not lay blame which was good to see. Freaked me out when you ran the boat up on the sand. Another great lesson. Elayna as much as you love animals I’m surprised that you don’t have a cat or small dog on the boat. Pretty cute you hanging out the window lovingly saying hello to all the goats passing by and then trying to get the dog to follow you back to the boat after dinner. Nice try. A little bit too big to smuggle on board. And another thing I don’t know how you guys so gracefully get on and off that skiff without plowing into the water. It must be from doing it so many times. Kudos! Sending love from California💜🤟🏻😎⛵️🐬🇺🇸
There are many decisions when considering purchasing a catamaran. The Outremer yacht company clearly supports their owners. Emails, advice and personal attention is rare in the industry and creates value for owners. We will be purchasing a Cat this year, Outremer is on the list.
We have had two French Boarts, a Lagoon and a Wauquiez. In both cases the only way to get an answer on the phone was to call the sales department. Cust and tech support were hard work, and few (except in sales) speak English. Google translate was the only answer in the end.
Really liked the video, pretty places and real life things. I know by my own life each thing that happens makes you better at keeping cool when the next thing goes. Keep on sailing my friends!
Matthieu is world famous!!! These are the lessons that force us to remember lessons! Thank goodness you were not thousands of miles off in the great blue!
Okay, I want ya'll to know that I have been watching your videos for years now and every time Elayna starts dancing I can't help but smile from ear to ear. Thanks for being you!
Steffens boat looks like an old Columbia...I grew up in English Harbour and this episode has choked me up ... your videos are bitter sweet for me ! I can't stop watching them ..amazing concept and I wish you the very best
I love these videos !! its got me absolutely stuffed how people can watch these and give a thumbs down!!! their life must be fucking awesome not to enjoy these videos from these legends !!!!
We love Matthieu! Just an awesome guy. And, it makes sense (though I never thought about it) how much he must know about sailing and especially cats. It is the best when you can hang out with someone who can constantly impart knowledge. You feel so much richer afterwards.
my dogs and also three - love those calves and of course you guys !! I´m watching from the beginning like addicted to get to know you.... love from Germany
Don’t worry too much sweetie, they make the boats to be easily repaired, a lot of force behind that and one small bracket, it could have been a lot worse. Love the beaching too. That is the dream
I just recently found your channel and the last two weeks have been amazing, I've finally got caught up and I don't know what to do with myself while waiting for our next adventure. Thank you.
It is never a good time to break anything on a boat but that had to be the best possible time. Spare hands and the right people around. Perfect beaching, that is what a cat was made for.
Always good to see Matthieu, (and Steffan too!) La Vagabond looks weird on the beach lol. Love how calm Riley was when the gooseneck broke, you are a good man my friend! Fair winds and following seas La Vagabonde !
Great video, I really wish I could've been a fly on the wall, wait maybe not but Elayna couldn't have caught me! All that information must have been overwhelming, how to fix the boom etc. Then the spear fishing tutorial, a lot to keep track of. You guys are the best, I absolutely love watching your adventures, and feel like we're close friends. Enjoy every moment, have a beer for me! And have a couple for yourselves! Great job, keep up the good work......
A gooseneck should be a very robust part and should be able to survive the occasional accidental gybe. I'll bet Outremer has some egg on their face and will re-engineer that part of future builds. Great episode. Too bad the Wahoo got away. Keep up the good work. You guys are an inspiration even to us old guys who have sailed for a lifetime. Cheers.
I've sailed a fair bit but have never considered the gooseneck as vulnerable. I do take it easy so I don't flog out the main. Live and learn. Great video as usual. Thanks guys
Awwww, I felt so sorry for you Elayna with the goose neck breaking, you could see that you just felt terrible. Its just good that you have a good man who understands some times things just happen.
BRILLIANT video! A good reminder to us all for refreshing skills - and to do it in heavier winds too. Lucky the goose-neck broke where it did and not during a Transatlantic passage :-)
Paul Mann, Lucky it happened during a MOB drill and not during a real MOB situation. I bet this incident has put safety related issues back into perspective.

Everybody breaks something. I once helped break a friend's main boom (it was a group effort) in heavy conditions. Good thing it was a ketch, and we still had the mizzen and the head sail to finish the day. Good thing the goose neck is replaceable, and it didn't happen in the middle of nowhere. Keep up the good work!
That’s awesome that you beached the boat! I wouldn’t worry too much about the sand getting sucked in the engines though. Better to leave them running and maintain control. I’m on a lake and people routinely suck in sand and never hurt their impellers.
Elay, amazing edits mate! You editing skill has improved sooo much since the first ep. Proud of you guys, keep on rockin in the free world!!! Much love from Toronto.
Aw Elayna I felt so sad when you zoomed in on yourself w the music being sad about the broken boom, but it was also a wee bit comical :,) Love you guys!
I was going to walk to the store for some beer but instead I decided to finally donate to help fix that boom. You guys are awesome. Keep taking us everywhere!
Great video, can’t wait to see the how-to- videos. Such a good idea to make some. It would be good to see how you plan a trip check weather forecasts and navigate
thank you for yet another great episode! too bad about the boom but it's good that nothing more broke. thank you for sharing and good luck on getting the spare parts!
ahaha had to pause the play button and say love the self pity edit at the 11:09 mark Elay. cracked me up. before that love the FRekin waters good gosh could they get any more gorgeousness?. love that drone shot overhead with the half circle boat turn, The boat is soo pretty's. Sweet on the forward breech dock!! ba bam! we got a Hello from you Elay at the goats, Riley laughing at the roadside animals, all is good in the world. So sad I can't make the party this weekend :(
Loved this video! It’s been nice to see you work as a team throughout all your adventures. Great friends to have on board! A wealth of knowledge to learn from them as well. Blessings sail your way! “T”
Here’s a trick I learned when I owned my beach house. I was constantly fighting flying insects (omg mosquitos are the worst) and watching you chase that bug around at the beginning of the video reminded me of that. So....what I did was use their weakness against them by turning off all the lights except one. I would leave one light on strategically located where it was easy to “corral” them to their demise. If you do this they will come to you! Hope this helps! Love your videos!
I just recently discovered Sailing La Vagabonde and have been trying to catch up. I really enjoy your content and excellent editing and especially the music! I am falling in love with sailing!
I really like watching your videos. They are very well edited and put together. I learned to sail in school a long time ago, and would love to sail again someday. Good on you :)
Your production quality, editing, and camera work has become so impressive! It was always good, but y’all have had some sort of breakthrough recently 👌🏼
Great vid, thanks. Now you know how a Goose feels at Christmas or Thanksgiving, still, luckily Mattieu was en board to advise. Lovely Beaching, hope you never have to do it in earnest. Riley and Elayna looking good. Don't worry about the boom, things happen at sea.
Going down-wind all that energy going from one side to the other will eventually break the "goose-neck", that's why on so many sailboats it clanks around and is generally sloppy. You can't always catch the boom in time by quickly tightening main-sheet, it's just going to happen. You can set up a "preventer" system with some basic line and eye-bolts but it's ugly and clutters up the deck. Other options are costly but do work. Love the drone shots and overall camera work, there must be some wicked "edits" in these videos. Anyway, "CHEERS" and good tidings from the Northwest. Al Irish Creme, Islander Bahama 28

"It winds down a hard day at work" Good sentence
Watching start of 2022… Matthieu is worth his weight in gold … and other lovely French gifts!

I swear, I just love you guys. You make me smile! On the inside too! Feel like I’m with friends when I watch your adventures. THANKYOU!
Thanks to Matthieu, beaching your boat in the Bahamas will give you so much more opportunities for good videos.
I bought my own boat at 17 cuz of you guys! Thanks so much! I've been watching for a long time now!
Ah another 19 min escape....Thank You just isn't enough. Love how you two are always learning & taking us along. Can't wait for the how-tos XO, Kelly

Great episode. Reunion with friends, new experiences, drone footage, spearfishing, etc. Just. Stellar. Thank you!
Great video with even greater friends. Friends like that are priceless.
Awesome! Love Matthieu and all his wisdom.

One of the best videos!!!! Great job!
The music with Elayna’s sad face was classic. Another brilliant video. Cheers.

Perfect music for that scene 👏🏼👏🏼👌🏽🙌🏼
Fantastic video ❤️Matthiew!!❤️, your music is great Eylana and you Cap’n “Jack”= The Dynamic duo. I really enjoyed this one Special!
I've sailed a fair bit but have never considered the gooseneck as vulnerable. I do take it easy so I don't flog out the main. Live and learn. Great video as usual. Thanks guys

Yaaaaassss! Just heard my man Jack White singing. I knew I loved you two for several good solid reasons. Hahaha
Great shots! I'm always looking forward the whole week for your episodes! 😍👍
Looking forward to your how-to vids. Cheers to Matthieu for trying to help with the boom! Another great video!
Yours are intuitive and informative Josh - dumbed down enough for us stink boat owners.
Thanks, Greg! Awesome you saw some of my sailing videos. I've been inspired by La Vaga since they began!
I really liked this episode.
Your editing on this one was just superb in all ways.
Nice work, thumbs up, and a big hug to the La Vagabonde crew.
Amazing editing and overall production guys.. This is so far above and beyond any TH-camr I can think of. Absolute legends.
the music defining the moment and filming is great
Haha after she broke the boom when Riles is talking and they cut in Simple plan! So genius!
Wine for Elayna and oil filter for Riley!! XD Matthieu is such a legend~!
The drone footage in these videos is amazing!
Beaching the cat looked so cool. Matthieu is a legend

Ive said it before, and Ill say it again -- Elayna, thanks for having such a great taste in music. It doesn't go unrecognized!
Aw Elayna I felt so sad when you zoomed in on yourself w the music being sad about the broken boom, but it was also a wee bit comical :,) Love you guys!
Another Joyouse Sea-Escape on La Vagabonde. Splendid! Thank you.
I was going to walk to the store for some beer but instead I decided to finally donate to help fix that boom. You guys are awesome. Keep taking us everywhere!
Always a thrill to see your adventures. Looking forward to the next vid.
I love all your videos so much. I have been watching for years. Keep up the great work.
Matthieu is an absolute gentleman.
Great video, can’t wait to see the how-to- videos. Such a good idea to make some. It would be good to see how you plan a trip check weather forecasts and navigate
That beaching was way cool and great to have a few extra hands aboard to get the drone shots while it was all happening too!
thank you for yet another great episode! too bad about the boom but it's good that nothing more broke. thank you for sharing and good luck on getting the spare parts!
The beaching is sooo cool! Good job guys. :)

Steve Loop best part of the video, I instantly checked the time stamp to see if anyone else mentioned the epic edit at the 1110 mark. Lol 😂
you mean 11:00
Oh baby girl it’s all right just thankful that the Boom didn’t hit anybody or injury anybody everything can be fixed.
Loved this video! It’s been nice to see you work as a team throughout all your adventures. Great friends to have on board! A wealth of knowledge to learn from them as well. Blessings sail your way! “T”
I want to learn to sail now..oh my gosh so relaxing.just found your channel
Simply beautiful! Thank you!
Great v log guys you certainly know how to do it outstanding cheers
First time you get an impression of just how big those cats are when Riley was pushing it off the beach! Some bit of gear....
Really enjoyed this. My vicarious living is up some points. Nice music.
Really enjoyed the video guys and gals. Thank you.
Another good one, y'all! Hate the boom broke, but lesson learned. Looking forward to the how to videos; keep up the great work. 🍻🍻
That music interlude when Riley says what happened to the boom was hilarious!
This was a nice video. Elaynas haircut totally makes her look like a mom!
And again!!! A nice one. Also Matthieu....is he single?? 😉😉

Nice one squirrels yet again another great video xxx
Congrats on your news watch your video on Instagram. So happy for you and bet you can't wait for the new arrival. Xx
