    Man this such a underrated jiu Jitsu channel

    Kenny has such a critical eye when it comes to combatives. A few elbows suddenly expose critical holes in the sportive BJJ system. They def don't like those straight shots coming up the middle either. Very astute.

    This is the content that many people want to see. When I was training BJJ one of the things I noticed is that from a strictly BJJ standpoint (sports BJJ) some techniques are not as efficient in MMA or in a real world scenario. For example, when I was training at Extreme Couture I witnessed some BJJ guys once strikes were introduced their BJJ technique went out the window. Therefore there seems to be a dearth of BJJ for MMA (BJJ techniques mixed with strikes) that can help people evolve their BJJ game. This is why this video is so informative. People do not need to become the best strikers in the world, they just need to have an understanding of how and where strikes could come from and how to adapt efficiently using their BJJ techniques.

      When BJJ loses its ability to be effective as a self-defense art, all is lost. Thank you for your comment and for checking out the channel. 🙏👊

    3:30 is were it's at, but jitsu counters, like arm triangle. Bam and done. Especially if all the weight is put into that elbo as demonstranted.

    Good stuff. Dont you afraid to triangle with using this elbow?

    • @KennyFlorian
      @KennyFlorian  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Do you mean there’s a threat since I’m throwing across oppt’s body to the floor? The actual elbows would be thrown at the face. I’m just throwing them to the floor to demonstrate the action.

    • @sionsionsionify
      @sionsionsionify 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      3:23 I mean this moment. He can actually put foot on your hip and try to working on the triangle. Ofc its not easy because action there is very Quick but still I see the opening.

    • @KennyFlorian
      @KennyFlorian  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sionsionsionify while the angle of the camera might make it look like there is an opening, there is none due to the proximity of my head in relation to my opponent's head and upper chest. Have a listen to it again and play with it. All the best and thanks for your question.

  • @polopolomay1

    Do you think the 2 on 1 (Marcelo Garcia or Gary Tonon style) can be used to stifle the ground and pound?

    • @KennyFlorian
      @KennyFlorian  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not how it is traditionally executed, I don’t believe so. Leaving your opponent with a free hand to hit you and staying in front of him isn’t advisable. I’d try to approach things from a defensive perspective first. Can he hurt me from here? Where am I safe etc...Then, I try to approach what my offensive options are. Your offense doesn’t really matter if you’re susceptible. In MMA/fight, the stakes are higher than in grappling.

    • @polopolomay1
      @polopolomay1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KennyFlorian Agreed. It would need to be a part of a comprehensive gripping strategy for MMA. MG use it to toggle the oppenent in all directions but mostly forward and to the side forcing the arm across their center line. From the close guard I think this forcing of the arm could lead to flower sleep situations or transitions to the butterfly guard head clamp sweep (a la Gordon Ryan v Buchecha or MG v Everyone). From the open guard it seems to me that controling the ground and pounder's strong hand, forcing it across their center line and threatening their base would stifle the ground and pounder by forcing them to defend or adjust base more. In the Chandler/Oliveira fight this weekend, Chandler was pretty confortable in Oliveira's guard able to punch or elbow past Oliveira's 1 on 1 grips... I appreciate your insights into this.

    Hello Kenny, on my TH-cam channel I talk about Autism. I advocate for Autism Awareness and am diagnosed. MMA has really helped me out a lot in my life. I also have interviewed actors from Karate Kid, Cobra Kai, Final Destination, etc. I would love to interview you about your career. I been a huge fan of yours for as long as I could remember. Please let me know what we can work out. Happy New Year.

    If you are standing in the street and your opponent had feet on hips....punt him in the groin.
