  • Honda Odyssey No Build Minivan Camper Conversion. Kyle and Sandi decided that it's time to get out and explore now that their Honda Odyssey is no longer used to shuttle their children full-time. One of the key elements of this build is including a full size bed for them to sleep comfortably. They have worked hard to get to this point in their lives, and now it's time to experience something new! In this episode, we take their normal minivan, and add some of the necessities for a minivan camper conversion such as power station, mini fridge, solar panel, and ice maker. An Ice maker is not usually something I would include, but Sandi loves ice! Wish them luck on their journey!
Tabitha and I occasionally camp together, and she LOVES IT! See our experience here:

The bed frame is nice and lightweight. But there is not enough headroom. I know cargo boxes are expensive, but sometimes you can find a used one for a reasonable price. Stuff could be stored in a cargo box , which would allow more interior space, so the bed could be lowered, and this would make the interior space much more comfortable.

Exactly. They are getting a 4 inch memory foam mattress which will add about 10 inches of head space. That mattress is very comfortable, but too high.

We used a similar set up in our minivan. Cut the legs down and use two 25” wide folding mattresses 4” thick. Gives much more headroom. The shelves for the platform are 2’ by 3’ resulting in a 4’ by 6’ bed. The mattresses were a little long and we cut off one end. My husband and I are both short so the bed works for us. Use zip ties to attach the shelves to each other and bungee cords to hold the bed down for safety.

I would remove the center console and put the ice machine there, then removed the rear seats and put the power station and some other things there. Then I would cut those bed legs to the the platform as close to the ground as possible and get a lower profile mattress. That shot of them laying on the mattress made me claustrophobic.

I'm not that big and I only sleep in one position and I think it would take about 26 inches for me what do you think. Like the idea of the simpleness of it. It would give me plenty a room for my dog to sleep. Concerned about the dogs I am about myself you animal lovers understand yeah I would cut two by fours size of unit so I could move them in and out no problem any ideas also great video thank you very much takes time and effort and kindness to put such good work out
