The cot is good for short weekend trips. However, it can slide around more during extended travel. The bed frame with a mattress is perfect for solo long-term travel.

I made a huge upgrade and this Minivan Camper Bed is Finally PERFECT!
th-cam.com/video/u6ZmGA2J2qA/w-d-xo.html
I just picked these exact options for my next conversion. Was wondering why no one else had though of it and spent so much time building wood platforms, so much easier this way I think. Thanks for the confirmation that I had the right idea :)
This is so much easier, I did add a support to the back leg recently to make it more stable. It worked fine like this, but would sometimes fall off of the seat.
I'm going with this option. @@OffGridAdventure
My cot works fine; I just put a memory foam mattress on top and the weight keeps it stable. I love the seat on the side as it makes it comfortable watching TV on my tablet. There’s also plenty of space underneath for backpacks and shoes. On top of that I have space in the back and I keep a cabinet right next to the bed for clothes. Then again, I live in my van, so making room and using it to its full potential is a must 😁
Great tip! I used a cot for a little while.
@@OffGridAdventureI used an army cot. Don't tell the danger guy it's made of metal. 73
I am impressed that you demonstrate those bed setting ideas out there although it was raining. It makes watchers more appreciate to your presentation. What a passion you have for your channel! Two thumbs up! :)
Thank you so much! I never expected so many people to watch this one.
Wow, that steel frame bed absolutely fits in the back there perfectly!
Where could I purchase a narrow twin frame and the mattress you showed? Please don’t say online or Amazon or EBay or Google it!
It looks like the back leg could come off the floor easily and collapse, didn’t it?
It could, it’s almost a perfect fit. I don’t usually have an issue with it falling, but put a small piece of cardboard on the driver’s side just in case.
@@Thinkforyourselves64 Home Depot is where I got mine. Maybe Lowe's, too.
those Coleman collapsible cots are actually pretty comfortable since they are so springy. But adding another foam pad on them really helps a lot.
Yep, just add some air or foam padding and a sleeping bag....
Great video!
I live in mine. So, I use a narrow twin, steel frame 30×72×14. It has bamboo slats for mattress support. Great design. Fits perfectly without being off balance. I was super excited to be able to use my 3rd room seat! But, it's a drag having to enter from the passenger side. I didn't/couldn't lose the seat! And I love my bed! So, I moved the bed to the passenger side. I found a gaming chair that fits perfectly on the driver's side. It looks almost like the original small seat. I also use black bedding so not to call attention to my home. My seats are also black. My travel bags are black. Paint it Black! 😂.
When I go to a campground, the colors come out. And so does the lightshow.
When in town, I look just like everybody else. ❤️✌️
~ 🦋
That’s a great way to use your van. I’ve never thought about that before.
Thank you!
I use couch cushions. When I need them to be a bed, I lay them down like a bed. When I need them to be a chair, I stack em like a chair. They all have adhesive-backed velcro where needed and when I need them out of the way, they go in the roof-mounted luggage bin.
That’s what I do too 😊
@@sheenavaughan2717 awesome sauce!!
I love the noise of the rain 🌧
It was fun to make this video in the rain.
Just bought my Sienna today! I had the cot in my last van (which blew a head gasket) but I'm loving the twin bed setup here. thanks!
Good choice!
Really like your practical approach without clutter. Great presentation.
I use a cot myself and it's great that I can put tote storage bins under the cot. Also room at one end for a fridge, cooler, or porta potty toilet. I found that I can put the foam mattress down on the floor if I don't have the rear chair up like you do. It's plenty comfortable for sleep and stealthier. This also allows me to put stuff like a camp chair, table, tent, stove, etc. on top of the cot and I can use stretch cords to secure them to the sides of the cot which is now acting as a shelf instead. At the rear door I put my cooler and food tote. I keep a 12 pack cooler on the floor of the passenger seat in the front and another tote bin or suitcase with my clothes/towels, etc. Tip: use shower caps to store your shoes in when you get in the van to keep any dirt or moisture from soiling your stuff in the van. I drive a 2019 Pacifica so the seats store in the floor which is handy. I use a lot of solar items like flashlight, led lights, fan, etc. that have small solar panels or just charge in USB ports while I am driving. It's affordable to get a small solar panel to charge up devices when off grid or one can always get a portable generator for electricity if desired.
Great set up,,safe travels.
Thank you!
Thank you for always adding all the information in the description.
Thanks for watching!
thank you. I really like the ease of setup and it looks to be very comfortable
I love watching all these different videos! You get a different idea from each one and all together they make a nice little home! Thank you 💜
Hi Debra, I try to make videos that share something interesting. Also, thank you so much!
That bed set-up looks very stable and comfortable. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Simple neat and efficient i like ur set up luv from Jamaica🇯🇲
I appreciate it!
Love this. Thanks so much. A narrow twin is definitely what I want to get for my Toyota Sienna Minivan.
Thank you. It’ll be a fun transformation!
Thanks for the ideas! I’m re-evaluating my minivan camper setup and you gave me some MORE things to think about!👍
Nice! Be sure to show us how it comes out on your channel!
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing. This was exactly what I was looking for and getting ready to buy a Sienna! God bless you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks you. Good luck with your Sienna.
Thanks for sharing trying to plan my setup too
Thank you for posting. You have found a great bed and mattress. I will purchase the small twin for my T&C but a Queen for my actual bed.
Your videos have inspired me.
Thank you for sharing, totally what I need to be able to convert the van back and forth.
Glad to hear it!
That is exactly the way I do it, but you have a much better frame and mattress. Great ideas!
I wanted it to be solid, because the cot would slide around. Thanks for the comment!
Very clever! Thank you for sharing.
Well done. Thanks for sharing. Makes the Sienna look like a good stealth camper.
Thank you!
I have the same set up in my Chrysler Town and Country. I took out the second row seats for the stow and go room and took out the third row 60% seat as well.
Thank you for the bed ideas I have been looking for something like you have.
Glad to hear it.
Great info and products! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for stopping by!
Thank you so much for the bed ideas. i had looked and looked for cots with straight legs and couldn't find anything that was half way decent. I went with the bed frame but i added a hollow core door. i figured i would feel the slats even though that thick mattress you recommended is thick. can't wait to try this set up this week on a trip to the Oregon coast. i have to find a narrow chair since my bed is too tall to sit up on.
Good one, looking for this. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for taking this video, it's the most recent one I've seen. Everything else feeding to me was 2 or more years old.
Thank you!
honestly, when you go camping, you don't really need anything more!!! that's perfect!
Exactly, minimal! Thank you!
This video is SOOO PERFECT...I have a Sienna SE and have been looking how best to install a single cot or frame with mattress...Thank you so much for doing this video!
Thanks!
Nice options! I am setting up my 2010 Grand Caravan (w/sto-n-go) for 2 to 5 night adventures in camping, fishing, and playing guitar under the Arizona stars. I'm still using a cooler. 12v fridge will come later, but I have all the other stuff. Great video!
Easy~! Quick~! Smart~! I like it. Thanks Sir.
Thank you!
What a fabulous set up- I just bought a Sienna- this is exactly what I’m going to do- Thx Brother!
Right on!
Love your ideas! Food for thought for my Sienna Van.
Thank you!
I suggested a Sienna to someone looking for a van. Wish I wasn't committed to my present car...Would love this car!! Always loved my vans when I had kids...always had Chryslers back in the 70s and 80s...now..this Toyota would be perfect!!
The vehicle is the one you have. Enjoy!
Hi, thanks for the suggestions on bed. I just ordered the bed frame, mattress and black sheets. Really appreciate your videos!
Nice! how did it work out for you? I recently modified the back feet to make it work a little better.
Oh yeah. This inspires me a lot! So simple
Thank you, good luck!
Perfect fit.
Good tips. I'm definitely ordering the frame and mattress. LIKED and Subscribed.
Thank you so much. Let me know how it works out.
@@OffGridAdventure I will let you know. Have a great day!
I would have never thought of a black sheet!
It helps with the vibe.
This was impressing. Thank you 😊
Thank you!
Nice set up…. You put a lot of thought into it.
Thank you!
Perfect for my non-build build!
It’s a painless setup.
This is exactly what I needed to know right now. Been trying to decide on the bed build and I love this option. Thanks!
I’m glad to hear this!
Thanks I was looking for this look the bed and a set.
I like the idea 😊
Cool man. Just bought a 2012 Sienna. Got all the big expensive stuff now just need a little stove and bed and adventure! 🙂
It’ll be a lot of fun!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing this.

Such a brilliant idea for a small space !!! I’ll enjoyed watching it and love the setting !! Stayed bless🥰👍💜thank yoo fir sharing your genuine idea 💡🥰🎶💤😴
Thank you so much!
Install 2x4s or 6s feet under the Coleman Cot legs with small pluming pipe clams .. Easy fix .. He bought this other setup that he didn't need to .. The Coleman Cot legs supports are way better than the other setup .. Notice a support leg of other setup on the edge of back compartment opening ... 😮
Wow...thanks so much! Already subscribed. 😊
Right on! Thanks for sharing.
I have a sienna.
Recently car-camping is popular in Korean since Covid19.
When our family go camping, all of four sleep in the car.
Very nice setup, use 2nd 6" mattress all the time.
We have a seinna, yes it has lot of space.
Excellent 👌. Happy trails. Be safe v
Thank you!
Nice! I have the same bed setup! A very nice person offered to help me with it and cut off 4-5 inches of the legs which makes getting in and out of the bed so much Easier! And that mattress is awesome! Thanks for sharing.
That is very interesting. Glad to hear the bed is working for you. Occasionally, I’ll hit my hands on the roof when I roll over. But, I do use the extra storage space.
@@OffGridAdventure My dog would sleep under the bed.🐾🐾
I'm going with a similar setup. Slightly different bed frame which I bungied to the frame hooks for the row 2 seats. I put puzzle foam around the trolleys and a thin rug on top. Not flat but the lumps help keep things in place just like you said. Good travels to you.
I'm glad that is working for you. I have thought about using some foam flooring and it sounds like it helps you stay flat.
Great ideas! 😊
Thanks
Thank you.
This all looks really fitting. I'm probably going to buy a used Sienna and if I do I'll get the frame and trifold mattress.
I love that 🛌 bed ideas
am impressed THANK YOU! great tips!
Thank you!
Great bed . I have a 2005 Honda Odyssey and plan to drive to Utah for three weeks
Nice! Did you end up putting a bed in your minivan?
Great idea for the bed!

Hi, thanks.
Thank you so much for your very very nice videos absolutely I love and dreaming for it thank you so much and GOD blessed you where ever you are a Huge thanks from Glendale California
Excellent video.👏
Thanks!
Thank you!
That is a great idea...love it..

I have the same van, and I use the Coleman Cot you described when I camp. I replaced the little foam topper with a 4" folding mattress and a memory foam topper. I use a couple of bungie cords to keep it from sliding around. I enjoyed your comparison of these options. Will be checking out some more of your videos.
Thanks for this. I thought about getting just a mattress for the Coleman, and it would help if for some reason you need to make two beds out of it. Enjoy your travels!
Where do you buy your foam matress from?
@@biualblessed I found mine on Amazon.
@@inspiredtowander thank you. I saw that he did too in the description box. I looked it up and saw 2 option to chose to buy. I love his no build idea
What year & model ?
that mattress is great! i used it in my car camp this summer. cant beat the price, comfort and the way it folds and stores
Exactly. Sounds like you are enjoying your travels!

I am missing the mattress link. Can you help? Great video!!
@@charliedoucette2249 for some reason I don't see links... so you know the brand for the mattress and frame? Thanks
2 years later....how's that mattress? I'll be in need soon. Thanks. ~🦋@@OffGridAdventure
I like that thick mattress. I have a 2013 awd limited. It's probably the best vehicle I've ever purchased. I have a jackery 1000 to power my iceco dual zone fridge and computer. It's such a great stealth camper. I might buy a hitch mounted spare tire carrier and run traditional tires.
The Jackery 1000 is a beast. With that setup you can go off grid for quite a while. Do you run Solar panels?
@@OffGridAdventure I have 2 of the jackery solar panels.
I agree with you. Too many people seem to sleep on very thin mattresses or in sleeping bags, which is probably too uncomfortable for me.
It helped me thanks
Got this bed, and love it! So do the dogs. Fits perfectly in my 2019 Dodge Caravan and allows me to have Alpicool fridge and galley area behind by the lift gate. Only wish it had easier access all the way under the cot, but the 40 split seat block storage from that end. Easy fix was just to remove a few slats and take in out what I needed to. Thanks for the great video!!!
Thanks for sharing! Your setup sounds awesome, and I have a tough time reaching under my bed from some angles.
how much is it? amazon?
@@williambrucesanders6878 ~$60-70 Home Depot
@@kookietherapy9398 for both? mattress and frame?
@@williambrucesanders6878 Frame only, and that was pre virus price.
You obviously have never bought a mattress before. You get what you pay for in a mattress, but keep your head space in mind when you choose thickness. This guy got a good choice bc it folds up, and I think I have seen them at walmart before.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you!
Nice!! Like it!!
Thank you! Cheers!
That's good.simply the best
Great ideas
Thank You!
Nice I'm am in the process of looking for a bed frame and mattress for my Grand Carvan. I will check this out. Thank you.😊
I hope it helps.
Have you tried it ? I have a Grand Caravan also and love this idea.
Minivans look so long in some angles oh my word XD that's a great hack! Thanks for sharing!
It's all in the camera lens. I try to use the ultra wide lens for full views of what I'm doing.
Thanks so much for info😁👍
Just subscribed.. I'm getting my sienna in the next month and like what you do..
Thank you and congratulations! Enjoy!
Just what i needed
Glad it helped!
Wish I had this van too. Nice job. I could ever fit Bella my Lg German Shepard 🦋
Thank you!
Live my sienna
They are so versatile!
you should take your front passenger seat out. I took mine out because i dont have use for it right now, and i use the space for my yeti cooler. so much more practical use of space for me personally.
That’s a great way to gain space, but I need to be able to transport family. You could remove the third row also, and that is a lot of space gained.
Thanks!
Super muchas gracias por el dato
Great video...new sub here..Gave me some ideas for my grand caravan..Happy Travels..
Thank you!
Depends on how much you value yourself I live in my waggon and I paid a thousand dollars for my king single bamboo bed and I cut it to custom so I sleep awesome every night 😊
thats a good set up….. easily changed for other uses
I am at the start of a similar process with my Sienna, but I do not want to remove any of the seats, so I ordered the shorter Coleman cot with the thought it takes minimal space when folded up. I haven’t figured everything out yet and appreciate the ideas I find on TH-cam. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, let me know how your cot works out. I think it will fit fine if you have the middle row pushed all the way forward.
@@OffGridAdventure The Coleman 69” cot fits perfectly on the drivers side with 2nd row seat slid all the way forward! It is exactly what I wanted👍🏻
@@vanished3306 I’m glad to hear that. It opens up a lot of options.
@@vanished3306 I believe you'd get better mileage taking out the seats.
I think you get an extra mile for every 100lbs you take out.
