Welcome to my yearly stint into War Thunder. This time flying the P-47D-22 and P-47N. Both aircraft are basically stock, I only had the ammo for the P-47N
I really wish the DCS 47 was a razorback. The vibe is just too strong. Idgaf about the bubble canopy, I have friends to check behind me. Hopefully we'll get the F6F in DCS sometime in the next few years. On the topic of WT tho, I found the 47 to be almost untouchable when flown properly in a slash and run style in sim.. Especially with a friend. Actually, if you'll stay for my early morning tedtalk for a moment, I'll pass along a story of ages past. Many moons ago I was a subscriber to the online combat sim Warbirds, back in the summer of 06'. I paid for a month, and got another one for free. It was my first foray into the online ww2 flight sim communties and I was beyond green. Years of Il-2 offline, and CFS2 had never prepared me for that world. Sadly though, even in 2006, warbirds was mostly done. The community had almost all left for Aces High (as I did shortly after my two months ended.) There was one fellow though, went by the name of Vulture. He flew only P-47s, and was almost always on. He was basically untouchable for a rookie like myself. With no patience to climb to his altitude (not that I was ever flying anything that could have given a jug a fight at the altitude he cruised at) no SA (I didn't get track IR until 2014!), and no understanding of the fight I remember being picked off by that guy dozens and dozens of times. I'll never forget the adrenaline rush of getting my first kill in Warbirds though. It took me almost two weeks into my first month to get it, and I was shaking for 30 minutes from the adrenaline rush.
They should really enable a server based "allow auto engine controls = 0" flag. The German BR 3-5 planes would really shine there (since they are expensive AF), given the "Kommandogerät". The workload in allied planes would be greater, and it surely wouldn't be possible to get every single horsepower out of most allied planes at this BR in tight dogfighting situations. Yes I know I'm talking about WarThunder, a game where you get a FOX2 up your pipe while taking off in a Me163. But hey, there are dreams, and there are thoughts...
So idk if I am right but I think that in sim with the 47 it doesn't really matter if you are stock or not just get the ammo modification and take full tank of fuel cuz if you are not higher than someone and that someone engages you your best bet is to dove away Wich is about the airframe and not other performances
The performance upgrades matter a lot. Since they give you a hughe climb rate and speed boost. Two things you need to stay within the comfort zone of the aircraft.
@@r.c.a.f_lynx9992 no, I get it no hate on it really that’s what got me into il2 I just needed more realism plus being in a squad that does il2 primarily is probably a bigger reason, I want to get into dcs but just haven’t got time yet.
If you want an opinion: don't use automatic controls, because you will lose a lot of performance, if you use the p-47 with manual controls you will get at least 50-60 km/h more, you could always go with the wep without overheating engine to stay ever at high speed (but it is better to keep it in case of escape or fight since it is not infinite). If you want to get a lot of speed with any p-47, set mixture at 80%, propeller pitch 84%, and radiators 20-30%.The propeller pitch at 100% will just to lose your energy!
i used manual control. But I didnt know that WT models the propeller actually realistically. Even tho 84% should only help at high speed, but not climbing and accelerations. Most of the performance was lost due to the stock status btw.
@@SheriffsSimShack Yes, it's okay to use the pitch at 100% when you're at low speeds on climbing, but above 350km / h (ias) it acts as an engine brake, I know that in realty the pitch shouldn't behave like this and should have more gain wide of speed, but in warthunder it is like that with the p-47 ( I have also noticed this in other aircraft). But above the mixture makes the difference with the p-47, don't leave it at 60 as it is by default). Bye!
To be fair, I though that the 51 was much slower and I had time to attack. I flew through his guns more or less. very unfortunate, and maybe he was able to see me, but the safe action would have been to just wait for his attack to finish.
@@dyaman_ well one 20mm isnt that much. a bit later I got an other 20mm by that bomber and my entire aircraft was damaged. with "glass" I mean how things break. All surfaces seem to either break or to be intact. there is nothing inbetween.
@@SheriffsSimShack I agree that many sounds were weird in this vid (like some extra loud explosions etc) but I thought because it was a mod lol Only 50 cal sounded better imo They'll get sounds right someday, I hope
I love both il2 and War Thunder and their casual gameplay since they are both so close in terms of visuals, flight model, HUD info visible (ease of play). Of course there are differences and Il2 has better DM and War Thunder has better looking ground textures but both are great games 👍

You have the razorback in IL-2 and if you seek that MP thrill it's the place to go now:)
I've also been partial to the razorback as well. CFS3 was one of my first video games and I loved it in that game.
Cringe

the MEC is broken on many planes. Like yak and P-47s Turbocharger.
Laughs in keyboard and mouse.
Nice early save. I miss WT Enduring Sim. More pls...

So, after being away from WT SB EC for two or three years, and only playing IL2, how do you find SB EC today? Do you find it better or worse today?
I am more or less in the same boat. It feels like its basically the same. More or less. Some improvements here and there, but nothing that stands out.
I haven’t played sim battles in about 2 years I find it hard to find a reason after switching to il-2
@@bryanjacobs5897 I play WT sim, IL2 sim and DCS sim. No reason one cannot do all of them.

Wasn't surprised by the P51 blue on blue ~ little to no respect/team work in WT lately! Solid tactics on the Me264!

Wow one bullet from 264 do such a mess with p-47N. Big difference compare to RB
Man the damage model on the 47 in WT is super fragile. It wasn’t called the Jug irl for nothing.
All aircraft in wt feel like they are made of glass
meanwhile p47 tooks a 20mm to its back and nothing happens

I like the camera in WT compared to Il-2
Yeah the the head tracking in IL-2 is in my opinion not the best, actually much better in WT
I use the same profile and feel no quality difference. Its a matter of setup.
Like il2 game bf109 my fav
Great landing early on there!
Thanks :)
Der Sherrif what's up bro? Do you play on joystick or mouse and keyboard?
woooowww co za latanko. Mozna zapytac na czym grasz?
What sound mod are you using? The vanilla 50 cal sounds are terrible, in your video they sound way better

2:45 "Auxiliary fuel must be used before using main fuel" Doesn't look like that is what is happening or do I miss something?
Nice video Sheriff!
I have never played WT. In your opinion, how does the flight model of WT in 1st person compare to the flight model in IL-2?
its overall worse. There are some "perls" within.
But the damage model and the fight model, the gfx as well are far behind GB
There are a lot more planes though...
It's much more simplified than IL-2. The sense of flight is there, but it is more of a lite sim at best.

idk if they're that comparable... WT puts wayyy less effort into aircraft, especially sim.
You have to be critical of the battle rating system. You just have to...

Great shooting Sheriff, but damn those gunners seem to be able to get a lucky shot on you at any range!? 😕🤔
WT gunners are pretty overpowered when controlled by the pilot.
Lucky shot-no bitterness there then, lol.
Some of the flight models are so frustrating to fly especially this one in particular. Nose wobbling like a dang seizure patient
Playing smoothly shit palying on keyboard and mouse is rough like hell always got spin and stall
you use joystik?
Cool
Why did you decide to give war thunder another try?
For fun. I come back like once or twice a year and have a couple of sorties.
Different. Bit less realistic than IL 2
