I replaced the timing chain, tensioner, cam phasers and vvt bolts and my new cam phasers immediatly rattled like ones that are going bad(mainly at cold start and improves a great dealonce warm but still happens on and off). could the part be defective or could I have done something wrong?

I just installed a Dorman VVT sprocket and it’s defective, have you guys found problems with the Dorman brand?

30+ year tech here.. I'm sorry you did know another way to pronounce Dorman is Don'tman.... ONLY use Don'tman parts if you want to do the job again....

"keep the oil changed as they (the manufacturers) recommend." That statement is ignorant of the fact that oil change intervals are developed by accountants and marketing people, not engineers. Toyota, for example, recommends an OCI of 10,000 miles or one year. For the most of us who don't drive mostly on the highway, that's a recipe for disaster - sludge and short engine life. A friend's Honda Accord developed a cam phaser rattle at 80,000 after 8 years of annual oil changes. His direct injected engine had filthy black oil after 7,000 miles of mostly short trips. A chemical oil flush fixed that (for the time being). He may still be facing thousands in repairs due to dirty oil.
