    Figured i would do a quick video on flushing your brakes out on your jeep wrangler jk and switching from dot 3 to dot 4 if you wish to. The reason i did is the boiling point is higher which can help when hitting the brakes allot on trails and down hill. Hope this helps you bleed your brakes and flush out all the air bubble's.

    I tried to purchase the bleeder kit thru your website link but they would not ship the item to my location for whatever reason. I did, however, find it at O'Reilly Auto Parts for around $10.00.

    The goal here is to create a solid column of brake fluid which in non-compressible. And because the fluid is non-compressible, that is the volume does not change, when a force is applied to the brake pedal the brake pads are forced by that column of fluid to squeeze against the rotor causing a braking action. Air in the line IS compressible so that is how and why the brakes feel spongy, not solid, when air is trapped in the brake line somewhere.

    I have done this with just a glass jar filled about 1/4 of the volume and a hose that fit the bleeder nipple and would reach the ground where the jar was sitting. The pumping pressure of the fluid forces the trapped air into the collection jar. The end of the hose must always remain submerged in the brake fluid in the jar as this eliminates air being sucked back into the line when the brake pedal is allowed to raise to the rest position.

    So is it transmission fluid or water "the last thing I want in my brake system"?
    Just messing with you. Thanks for the video. I am doing mine this weekend and I appreciate you documenting your experience.

    Just wanted to say thank you for the video. Just did mine today and it was so easy since tires don't have to come off compared to my other cars like Mercedes. It just took a long time like 3 - 4 hours total, but that was expected since the farthest tire had so much bad fluid lol. Had to probably empty like 7 times for that cap. The brake bottle is so handy can stick it to anywhere. Next time I can do it in 2 hours :)

    Thanks I feel like the experience would be overall better with a larger bleeder bottle.

    Great video, thank you! Already ordered one of those bleeder bottles, I've been looking for a cheap easy way to bleed brakes by myself! I think I'll be switching my fluid to Dot 4 as well, last time I wheeled my Jeep I lost my brakes because they got too hot.

      That’s no good whenever you’re going downhill just make sure you’re trying to use for Lowe so it uses gearing to also help slow you down should help too with break temps

    I replaced my reservoir because it was dirty as hell and put 4 extra long Metacloke brake lines after I bled it was spongy. I took it to a brake place by me they said need to use ABS brake bleeder computer after that it was good.

      Try an empty jelly jar with a string tied around the threads and an 'S' hook to hang it off the coil spring. That's how I have done it in the past.

      Dot4 is more prone to drawing moisture and needing replaced more often. Dot3 is more than capable of handling anything a Jeep is going to put it through.

    • @daniel193100
      @daniel193100 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your brake temps aren't going to get high enough to make sense to go with dot 4. High heat is mostly created from repeated high intensity, and extended braking.

    Thanks for the simple tutorial! I'm replacing pads, rotors, and flushing fluid this weekend.
    Think I'll switch to dot 4 as well!
    Copping that flush kit from your link too✌
