If I can throw my two cents into the pile: As a Swede I'd say him being shy and/or awkward will lessen every year.
I've seen Swedish interviews from his hometown, essentially at his safest place and in his own language. He's a quiet guy but has a unique sense of humor and isn't really that awkward. As he grows with the English language he'll be able to really express things in a more precise and colorful way that sometimes hold people back from really showing their personality in a second language. He's fairly quiet and at times direct in an almost blunt way but not really awkward or even that shy. In essence I'd bet that those aspects will go away with time.

the fact that canucks media (mostly on twitter) is using this interview to suggest there is bad blood between teammates is a bit out of proportion. Petey has improved a lot in interviews but clearly he still has some limits in his responses (which is fine). But to suggest that because he selected those words, that means he's x, y, or z is exactly why people think Canuck media is toxic.

Petey clearly has that same quiet intensity to him, but I feel he’s very much of the same ilk in terms of leading by example rather than getting wound up in a game and playing way more physically, in the style of Iginla for example. If the team all get behind the idea he’s their leader I think it’ll be very similar to Henrik’s captaincy, just perhaps without as much tolerance for media duties.

I'm a Canucks fan and I wouldn't want to play in Vancouver. I wouldn't want to play anywhere else in Canada either for that matter. If you're a competitive person, you want the chance to play for the Stanley Cup and it's clear that the way the system is set up, no Canadian team will ever win the Cup ever again. I love Canada, but if I wanted to win anything, I'd want to play almost anywhere in the US over Canada. You get to play in a market where there's a lot less pressure to win game to game, and if you have a bad year, the fans just turn to their real favourite sport. So if your rebuild takes longer than fans anticipate, no harm no foul. In Canadian markets, there's the general expectation that you're going to at least be a playoff team every year. So GMs take shortcuts to get there and that means long term success is sacrificed for short term mediocrity. I wouldn't blame him for wanting to go somewhere else, with or without the turmoil in the organization. He's not winning a Cup here, especially not this specific Canadian team. I'm also seeing far fewer players these days take discounts to stay with their current club. If you can't pony up the dough, they'll go somewhere else.

Then you look at Oilers they were bad at the wrong years when drafts weren't that great except for McDavid and Drysitatl. Canucks had bad picks that set them back with Virtanen, Jolevi. Then trying to make quick fixes trading away picks.

Whether he’s lying or not (put in a position where he almost has to claim he’s happy), there’s not much reason for anyone associated with the team to be pleased with the Canucks right now.
I thought the most interesting part was that JT Miller is a colleague, not a friend, and seemingly a frustrating one at that. As a fan of the team I feel that but I don’t necessarily expect the same sentiment from someone within the team itself.

I think he’d be better off leaving. For the sake of me continuing to pay attention to the team I don’t want that to happen but with the state of the roster, contracts and prospects I think medium to long term the Canuck absolutely should trade he and rebuild again from the ground up. It’s going to take years to turn this team around.
